Biggest/Best quality TV you can buy for $1,000?

Tyler

The caption pretty much says it all. I have a thousand dollars. What kind of TV Should I get? I have an Xbox 360 and it will pretty much be a gaming TV. links would help. Thanks guys :-)

Answer
You should look at either the 47" LG LW6500 or the LW5600 (2011 models). They are 3D LED TVs and should come very cheap now that its 2012. You can still buy them new at some sites. Since you're going to be gaming a lot, you definitely can't go wrong with a matte screen (they have matte).

I need help with new HD TV?

John

I recently purchased this TV to replace my old one (which was small and very low quality.)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Westinghouse---40%26%2334%3B-Class-(40%26%2334%3B-Diag.)---LED---1080p---120Hz---HDTV/5290913.p?id=1218703261042&skuId=5290913

I bought the TV to use with my xbox. After playing for a few days I noticed that the controls seemed delayed compared to my old TV. For example, when I look one way It seems as if it take a long time for the screen to move that way too. Is there a way to fix this? I am currently using a composite cord, so would a HDMI be better?

Answer
You need to turn off the 120 Hz stuff.

Page 33 of the manual http://westinghousedigital.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/UW40TSeries_UM-1212.pdf mentions game mode.

How does resolution work??

Bomber

Hey guys, so I'm a bit confused on how resolutions work, my friend has an LCD T.V. (he uses it as a monitor for his computer) its a 20" and its resolution is 1920x1080, I too have a 20" T.V. that I'm using as a monitor, but my resolution is only 1360x768 why the resolution difference even for the same size monitors??? my little brother has an 18" monitor and his resolution is also 1360x768, so who does resolution work?

I'm trying something with dreamscene and for those of you who knows what it is then you'll know what I'm talking about, I'm taking different footage of a game sorta making it into a video but for my wall paper. using Sony Vegas Pro 11 I render the video in 1360x768 however the video doesn't fit the screen even though thats my resolution why? 1440x1080 fits my screen more, except its still too big why? can anyone please help? :( any links would help.

Answer
How do resolutions work for monitors; It is called native resolution ( fixed raster ), the proper resolution for LCD ( Led ) monitor. LCD Monitors however can display other resolutions as well, if designed so. Newer monitors mainly will use the best larger resolution @ the time ( year ) either 16:9 or ( 16:10 ? ) ratios. When buying monitor always check the native resolution it has, this will be the best resolution , best quality resolution of monitor. Therefore if you are gaming for example find a monitor with the proper resolution you intend to use. CRT cathode ray tube ( older ) electronic picture tube monitors can use any resolution that it is designed to have and each one is a native resolution. Video cards have resolutions that they can display as well... Computer monitors have more definition ( viewed up close ), pixels per inch around 85 to 105+ , LCD TV monitors viewed at distance have less pixels per inch around 40 to 60+ . The perfect resolution the human eye can see ( Maximum Limit ) is 15360 X 8640 @ 300 pixels per inch, which is 16:9 ratio. Since the perfect resolution is 16:9 = 15360 X 8640, I don't know why some computer magazines, manufacturers of Monitors like having 16:10 resolutions such as 2560 X 1600 etc. ? That being said the perfect computer monitor will have in future 15,360 X 8,640 resolution @ 300 pixels per inch, (16:9 ratio), can't wait. 1360 X 768 is an older 16:9 resolution. In 1998 4:3 resolutions were common such as 640 X 480, 800 X 480 ... nowadays 16:9 resolutions 1280 X 720 = 720p, and 1920 X 1080 = 1080p are common ( resolutions ). LCD Television Monitors have signal for proper dislay via cable or satelite etc., since computer monitors use signals from graphic cards which can be changed to different resolutions, computer monitors handle these changes better, fill the whole screen, LCD Televisions may have problems hooked up to computers, screen size problems ( designed differently ). 15,360 X 8,640 ( 8640p ) is very comparable to 1920 X 1080 ( 1080p ), most people can not see the difference.
