Hz.(or Hertz), refers to either the AC power cycles, or for LCD and LED TV's, it would refer to refresh rate.... The AC power in the USA is 60 cycles AC.. The refresh rates used in the US are 60, 120, 240 Hz. The refresh rate helps motion blur on LCD/LED due to their slow response time. Plasma TV's do not have that problem, as they have a response time equal to a refresh rate of 600 hz...

120 hertz is going to be slightly laggy - if you're going to get an LED tv than at least get a 240 hertz refresh rate if you can.
