are panasonic viera 2011-2012 plasma still better than LED TV'S?

has the good led televisions caught up with the visuals of a panasonic viera plasma?i have a 42'panasonic viera full 1080p and im wondering is LED NOW better than my tv being that it is almost 2012 and technology...ect.?aslo i use my tv MAINLY for gaming on my ps3 and xbox 360 online.soo i had my tv for about less than a year so i broke it in when i first got it for the 1st 100 hours.so will NOW gaming on if effect it?i keep contrast,brightness,sharpness,color ALL on 50%.so thank you for reading this and please answer everything!have a nice one.

I just got a new LED backlit LCD TV (LED) for my room, and we have a G10 42" panasonic plasma in the front room. To be very honest plasma TV's are still alot better in every way in terms of picture quality the only advantages of LED tvs in my own experience are lower power consumption, thickness, weight... a Plasma wins hands down when gaming, watching sd/hd content etc. I'm considering buying another panasonic plasma in 2012 they'll look stunning.

Ramy, Good answer (Except that sony is an LCD not LED )which the Op wants.The sony $ series is bottom of the sony line,not that thats bad but its LCD not a smart Tv which 99% of 2012 Tvs are all samsungs are Smart Tvs for 2012.Its ok to disagree Ramy but you have to know what your talking about before showing the guy a link for the cheapest Sony LCD made,with less features than other 2012 LEDs like movie support through USB,sony has only pics and songs no video.A big complaint on here when people try to hook up a hard drive to play movies and it doesn't recognize movie files.The future of tvs is connections like Cloud thats the big buzz word all pcs, Apples,& most new 2012 Tvs have some form of smart capabilities.And as usual Joe G is right again,yes there are TVs for 500 & under but youll have to sacrifice features or size to stay under 500 bucks.I paid 979.00 for a new 2012 Full 1080P 3D smart Tv Awesome features and picture quality its an amazing Tv a PN51E550 & a Panasonic 50 inch st50 both top rated tvs on top 10 tvs c-net reviews amazon.etc.The OP wants an LED and the only LEDs for under 500 are off brands Vizio,westinghouse, Emerson,etc or are samsung panasonic sony but the LEDs for those manufacturers are 32inch models.So one or the other.I would rather save a bit and get at least a mid range then get a bottom end set that will be lacking before you even turn it on.

Well Samsung 8000 series may have some of the exclusive features like gesture sensor or LG 9600 won CES 2012 award for its OLED 4 mm thin panel ,but all this wont lit candle to SONY HX 850 or 950 series , because its the only TV using Local Dimming and all the other are just using Frame dimming ,and an average user may find Samsung's have better colors but those are not realistic, so i recommend SONY HX 850 Series than 950 bcz both are almost same and you can save a money worth a dedicated home theater :)

Samsung OR Sony LED Smart TV?

I am having tough time choosing LED TV. I have being using Sony products especially TV and LCD since old days and the products is truly reliable and long lasting. As time goes by I need to upgrade my TV to smart LED TV and was having tremendous tough time choosing which is a right TV I should acquire. Samsung technology was amazing! It has all the features like no one else have it at the reasonable price. Sony was reliable and long lasting but feature wise, I don't think Sony can beat Samsung. And yet, Sony is extremely expensive with minimal feature that every LED TV has. Worst of all, I was told that SONY LED panel is sourced from Samsung. But according to other sources, Samsung is not that long lasting as Sony and break down rate is much higher compared to Sony. Which one should I buy???

Well you have some things right and some wrong thats normal on here this is a site with mostly opinion like asking whats better a camaro or a mustangeveryone has an opinion,The sony panels are made in japan the samsung in korea so although some things are made by other companys like Ipad screens are made by samsung and sharp used to use some Lg also.But sony uses their own paqnels and have had alot of issues in the past few years sony recalled 1.8 million tvs last year alone for melting pcb boards.The only sony worth buying is the new flagship xbr929 but its very expensive.I used to love sony untill i started getting calls every day for service.Samsung has more sarvice than any other brand but thats because they sell more tvs than any other company by a long way.Sony just fired their CEO and promises future products to be better but still posted a 14.8 billion loss in Q1 2012 and samsung was oposite at 27 billion according to retail metrics.Go with the best samsung you can afford I have the E8000 and 3D and smart features are awesome and picture quality is outstanding.Dont get fooled by opinions with no fact,do the research and see wat I mean.+++EDIT+++ Just to clarify meant sony announced 2011 losses in 2012 and never said dollars which is bad anyway and Just this is only thing I'll say Samsung has a market cap in the USA shares,at 134 Billion larger than sony,nokia,toshiba,panasonic,and lg combined!!!! I have no more room to tell you more.LOL Just get the TV you Like and remember if it looks good in store it will be 10x better at home set properly! I do this every day!

Plasma has won more awards then any other technology its just that they start at 42 inches so are usually good for big dark rooms,However,I have 2 new 2012 TVs both top line e series samsung 8000 LED & Plasma,and without a doubt plasma is the best picture color and black levels period.Panasonic also makes an awesome plasma series and has won TV of the year many times at E3.Leds are getting better and may soon rival plasmas quality but still right now the best PQ blacks and colors are PLASMA.Look it up.Top10tvs.com.C-Net.Google amazon etc.People who don't know any better think plasma is dead or not good,then why is it still considered by every videophile the best panel technology still 2012.

Do 3-D LED tv's have just as good of picture resolution as regular LED tvs?

I am looking to buy a 3d tv, specifically Samsung, and i was wondering if i didn't want to watch in 3-d, could i still watch tv in high resolution? and would the resolution be just as good as a regular LED tv? I wan't to make sure that the 3-d doesn't take away anything from the picture resolution . thanks for the help.

The new full HD 3D technology just came out read reviews on amazon c-net and AVS forums there is a huge difference in the 3d from just last year,less ghosting off axis viewing a full cpu conrtolled image technology so the new 3D tvs from samsung are incredible and they use ulta light battery operated glasses a little round watch type battery with new active shutter technology for true full hd-3d.the passive 3d is pushed mostly by lg and is no where near as good as active shutter passive will get better over time but right now the new samsung active shutter with full hd-3d is the best out.2012 over 2011 is huge in quality,I have a d8000 2011 model 3d and just got a 2012 E8000 and the difference is stunning.The light drop when switching is hardly noticeable as it was an issue of past,my 2011 set drops light my e sries you barely notice the ml difference.It's a complete redesign for 2012.Check the reviews for yorself,but I have both and the new samsungs are awesome.
