I've hear that plasma tvs are better for viewing sd cable. Is that true or should I be looking or an LCD?

Answer
Neither technology is better purely based on the technology itself. Its actually the nature of the image processor in the TV. So the brand, and how high up the ladder you climb within a brand, will make a bigger impact. Like a Sony XBR, a Panasonic G or V series, a Samsung 7 or 8 series, etc., I would expect stronger SD performance over say Sony EX, Panasonic U, or Samsung 4 or 5.

An LED LCD vs a Plasma is going to be a very comparable image in today's day and age. The LED LCD will tend to appear a bit crisper (artificial perception because of brightness) and the Plasma will tend to play back fast motion better (because its response time is near instantaneous like a CRT). So they do have slight advantages and disadvantages over one another, but on the whole, deliver quite comparable image quality. So again, its a matter of going with a better quality brand and a better quality model from within that brand.

What is the best TV to go with a PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies?

Andrew S

I'm looking for a TV that has flawless sound, picture and yadda yadda yadda to go with my PS3. Which TV should I get where Blu-Ray movies looks best?

Answer
I would go with a Samsung or Sony. You definitely want to get a 1080p model (obviously) which isn't a problem if you're looking for a 40" or larger anyway. Stick with an LCD for gaming (unless you have the money for an LED).
Also I would strongly recommend getting a 120hz model, basically anything in Samsung that is Series 6 or higher numerically will be great. In Sony's case, anything V-Series or lower alphabetically (W, XBR, Z etc.) will also be great.
If you have mostly Sony products to work with, stick with Sony, but remember that Samsung's generally have a higher contrast ratio and lower price for models comparable to Sony. Good luck though!

(To "jack": No Panasonic does not have the best picture, I sell televisions and I get look at ALL different brands ALL day long, so i have no idea where you are getting this notion from. Samsung's easily have the best picture.)

should i get a plasma or led tv?

Devon Stee

So i want an led tv but of course they cost more, i was also looking at a sony xbr plasma or something close to that. And of course 55 inches :)

What are the benefits of each i am not sure which one to get and what not price does not matter.

Answer
more specifics, please.

Sony XBR LCD's are fairly close to the top of the LCD market.

I think people do go for plasma for the deep blacks, which are pretty hard to generate on an LCD

LED is VERY good at generating black level, and very thin, too. Hence the cost.

Sony no longer makes plasma televisions, you might have been looking at a LCD. (they stopped in late 2004)

Hope that helps a little bit...

Q. I need to know, which is the best LCD TV Sony or Samsung?

I want to buy 46" LCD TV, and the offers for both sony and samsung is good, and I have no idea about the quality of samsung's tv. and is there any information or websites that show benchmark or LCD tv tests.

Answer
CNET has good reviews: http://reviews.cnet.com/best-high-definition-tvs/
Having said that, nothing beats the naked eye. This is purely an individual preference. I can tell you my experience: I bought a 46" Samsung because the Best Buy worker was pushing it. He told me that he has one, and he likes it better than the Sony. So, I bit.

Got it home, set it up, and it looked nice. However, the net morning, when I opened the blinds, it became a giant reflective mirror. The piano gloss finish reflected sunlight and the screen itself is very reflective. You won't see these issues in any professional performance review. I couldn't stand it.

Took it back and bought a Sony Bravia XBR4, and wow... the difference was indescribable. The screen is a floating glass design that does not reflect light, which is nice. The frame is also non reflective. The icing on the cake, however, was the picture quality. To my eyes, Sony destroys Samsung. No competition.

The best LCD television on the market is the Sony XBR series. Right now, I think it's up to XBR9, but I heard the XBR8 uses LED backlighting, so that might be a great buy.

Would the 32" Razor-LED vizio TV be good for Blu-ray movies or should I go higher?

Q. It is a 1080p TV that will go into a small to medium size room

Answer
I would suggest Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-32XBR9 LCD HDTV to you.TV has a 16:9 Full HD 1080p Resolution Panel provides optimum resolution from any HDTV source that delivers 1080p content.Motionflow 120Hz technology reduces judder and sharpens fast-moving images for a crisp, more natural picture. The BRAVIA Engine 2 fully digital video processor uses unique Sony technology to reduce visual noise, improve color, and sharpen image.
