There was this news about LG using this new color in the production of their OLED TV. Why are they using this new color which none of the other TV manufacturers are using?

Answer
Was the story about white pixels or white OLEDs?

LG and Samsung are the only TV makers that have said they will ship large OLED TVs in 2012.

They will do this using slightly different methods. In Samsung's version, it's just a pure OLED TV. Each sub pixel red, blue, and green will create or emit their own colored light. There is a downside, and it's why OLED was delayed a few years.

The organic material that make up the blue pixel breaks down faster than the other colors. While the color shift isn't a huge problem if it takes place over a large period of time, it's a problem if the rate is different from the other colors.

When that happens, it means the set will need to be calibrated more often, and there's the risk the color shift in the blue pixel will be so great, that it cannot be corrected. If samsung is launching with a true OLED panel, they must feel confident that they've solved the issue.

LG took a different route. Their panels use white OLEDs. Then they place colored filters over the white OLEDs. It's what all LCD/LED use since the backlight is white, the liquid crystal control light level, and the filters give the color.

Samsung claims their traditional version will yield a wider color gamut, and overall better image quality. They call their version super OLED.

Now if you are talking about white pixels, that's another story. White pixels can be used in a LCD or even an OLED TV. The advantage is a brighter image. Sony is using a new white pixel in a new small LCD screen, I think it was for a phone. It's not OLED tech, it's just added to the color filter. So there's a red, blue, green and white sub pixel.

Is it possible to get the 3d effect of a 3d movie like Avatar in a samsung 6 series LED TV (mine is 46 inch - 100 hertz) when the movie is played in a 3d blue ray player?

Answer
I think the 3d movie can play on samsung 6 series with a 3d blue ray player, though the samsung tv has different models and technical parameters, it still can play 3d movie on samsung tv ,I think that the simplest way is to use a 3d converter, because for the ordinary people, it is very hard to understand the operating principle of 3d, especially for those sophisticated technical parameters, besides the experts, it is very difficult for other people to finish this operattion, off course , I do not doubt your ability, but in my opinion, if there is a simple way to solve this problem, Why not use it? Not only to save the time but also enjoy to the visual effect fast. In fact, I like 3d movies too, so I often watch 3d movies , what is more, I also make 3d videos about my family by using a 3d video converter, it is good helper for me, if you have interest on it , you can check it :http://www.3d-converter.net/
