What makes 3d led tv better than others like it?

Answer
There has been a lot of hype and confusion surrounding the introduction of "LED" Televisions. Even many marketing representatives and sales professionals that should know better are falsely explaining what an LED Television is to their prospective customers.

To set the record straight, it is important to note that the LED designation refers to the backlight system used in some newer LCD Televisions, not the chips that produce the image content.

LCD chips and pixels do not produce their own light. In order for an LCD television to produce a visible image the LCD's pixels have to be "backlit". For more specifics on the backlighting process needed for LCD Televisions,

LED TVs are still LCD TVs. It is just that these new sets use LED backlights rather than the fluorescent-type backlights used in most other LCD TVs.

In other words, LED TVs should actually be labeled LCD/LED TVs.

How LED Technology is Used In LCD TVs

The are currently two main ways that LED backlighting is applied in LCD flat panel televisions.

One type of LED backlighting is referred to as Edge Lighting. In this method, a series LED backlights are placed along the outside edges of the screen. The light is then dispersed across the screen. The advantage of this method is that the LED/LCD TV can be made very thin. On the other hand, the disadvantage of Edge lighting is that black levels are not as deep and the edge area of the screen has a tendency to be brighter than the center area of the screen.

The other type of LED backlighting is referred to as Full-Array. In this method, several rows of LEDs are placed behind the entire surface of the screen. The advantage is that these sets can employ "local dimming". Local dimming means that each LED or a specific group of LEDs can be turned on and off independently within certain areas of the screen, thus providing more control of the brightness and darkness for each those areas, depending on the source material being displayed. On the other hand, LCD TVs that employ full array backlighting are thicker than LCD TVs that employ an Edge-lit LED light source.

If you are considering the purchase of an LED/LCD Television, find out which brands and models are currently using the Edge or Full Array method and take of a look at each type when you go shopping to see which type of LED backlighting looks best to you.

I'm going to get a led 1080p 3d Sony bravia. I'm looking for a Sony bravia 3d tv at like 32 inch can you tell me if this is good when it comes to technology

Answer
It actually depends on which tv series are you buying from their line-up. When it comes to sony their series for 2012 include the HX, EX, BX series. Sony has announced 10 tv's for this year.
If you are looking for the best of sony's technology then the hx series is the one to go for as it is their top-of-the-line, but it is only available from 36 inch size and is going to cost a fortune.
The ex line up suits most of your needs as it has full HD led displays and ample older tech like the motionflow240 but all models lack 3d.
The bx series is the bottom-of-the-line series and has hd ready displays and almost none of the premim sony features.
Thats all from sony for this year. Their most noticeable upgrade compared to last year is the new x-reality engine which is mostly all about up scaling internet and low resolution content.
All things said I suggest you take a look at the samsung line up as well, simply because there is a ton to choose from, most are smart tv's and some of their smart tv's have "smart evolution kit" slot which upgrades the tv to new software without having to buy a brand new set. This would mean not just having the latest tech but also being future-proof.
Hope it helped :)

What is the better choice between LED and LCD HDTV's?

just anoth

I am in the first stage of buying a new flat screen TV and I need a reliable source on which is better. I have seen some that include both LED-LCD in their description. What does this mean?. Please enlighten me! The universe will reward you further if you could include a link to a good 32" to 42" TV. Thanks!!

Answer
Both LED and LCD are LCD tvs. Different backlights. LED are the newer tech and are still having new tech issues. Clouding, flashlighting at the corners of the screen and other screen anomolies.

If you want 3D you have to get an LED. LEDs have the newest internal tech also. LCD are being shifted to the lower line tvs but they have fewer problems. If you want the latest and greatest you should get LED. If you are OK with older tech but fewer issues, you should go with LCD.

Go with a Samsung or Sony tv. The universe should be satisfied with that as they both are coming out with new models as we speak, so links are not available if you want the newest 2012 models.

bravo! you selected LCD, not plasma. now, go to the store where they have them set up side by side, see which has the best picture. it's best to choose that way. and you should be able to get a 52 inch for under $2000, around 1500-1600 most likely

Can someone be righteous but a big liar?

Q. Do you have examples for famous religious people who are known for being righteous but they intentionally make big lies ?
Can both traits coexist in one person ?

Answer
Sure. There's been plenty of Popes in this world, right?

The Vatican says it doesn't support fascist dictatorships but Pope Pius XII (1939â1958) never excommunicated Hitler or any other nazis for their atrocities against humanity (but he did excommuniate Nazi Minister Goebbels, but only for the reason he married a Christian from the wrong sect). The Pope continued supporting fascism after the war by secretly transporting Catholic war criminals to places like South America through Vatican funding, links and paperwork to evade justice. He never added Hitler's book Mein Kampf to the Index of books forbidden to Catholics because the authors were more offensive to humanity than Nazism was: Jean Paul Sartre, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, David Hume, Rene Descartes, Francis Bacon, John Milton, John Locke, Galileo Galilei and Blaise Pascal.

Ex-Catholic priests say there's a culture of secrecy regarding many things, quietly sweeping things under the carpet like affairs, child abuse and stealing funds because if the public find out it might damage their faith in the Church.

Mohammad Amin al-Husayni, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, was a righteous man who actively recruited Muslims into the fascist armies. It's a tradition in the Orthodox Church for a priest to bless soldiers before they go to war, even if they're led by war criminals.

Muamar Ghadaffi said people who go on hajj are idiots, but the country he rules as his personal fiefdom has a pure green flag. Tamerlane/Timur and Mahmud of Ghazni are admired by many Central Asian Muslims as being strong Muslims but they seemed more intrested in accmulating wealth, attractive women and any excuse (religious will do) to satisfy their desire to hurt people in unnecessarily cruel ways. The Ottomans Sultans are still admired by Turks and Muslims you couldn't become Sultan without killing your own brothers first so that noone could challenge your position.

Can you safely connect a TV, xbox, and mini fridge into one surge protector?

Daniel G

I have a 37" LED TV, an xbox 360, and a small mini-fridge and the way my room is situated there is only one plug I can use that isn't connected to the light switch, is it safe to plug all three into a surge protector?

Answer
depends on what wattage the sum of all devices adds up to compared to the maximum wattage rating of the surge protector. Id say youd be fine. All that will happen is overload the power board and it will cut out. There sould be an overload reset button. The surge protection will not me affected as its purpose is to protect devices from external power surges like lightening strikes to power lines or power supply authorities transformers malfunctioning...things like that.
I reckon youd be fine to run those things all together though. Just try and keep it at that and not add much more.

Edit:
Lighting and power ultimately all come from the same power source anyway. It makes zero difference unless you powering banks of florescent lighting which then, would be on a dedicated circuit. There is nothing that physically seperates the active terminal in your power point from the active terminal in your light fitting when all circuits are active (unless you have a three phase supply then all circuits will be distributed evenly over the three phases even then you still may have a power and lighting circuits on the same phase). There is technically and physically nothing wrong with what you're trying to to.

How much can an average surge protector handle?

Neil

I'm asking this because I have a 60" plasma tv, ps3, cable modem, wireless router, audio receiver, and a cable box. I used up all the slots in it and tonight I had everything on and running and nothing shut off. I'm guessing this is a good thing and the surge protector can handle all that stuff. Am I right?

Answer
I think you are misinformed on the purpose of a surge suppressor.

A surge suppressor contains electrical circuitry that protects equipment that is connected to it from sudden line voltage surges such as might happen during a thunderstorm.

The surge suppression is destroyed when it protects from a surge and must be replaced. Most units have a LED to tell you if the surge suppression has failed. It is much cheaper to replace your surge suppression unit than thousands of dollars worth of electrical equipment.

As far as the amount of items that can be connected to the device, that would depend on the current rating of your surge suppressor. Most are rated at 15 amps and have a resettable circuit breaker that will trip if you exceed the maximum current rating.

All surge suppressors are not created equal, Better units also contain line conditioner circuitry to clean up the noise and variations in the incoming line power. My advice is to buy the best one you can afford depending on the value of the items that you want it to protect.

Good Luck...

Why would someone want to purchase an 3d led tv?

Why would someone want to purchase an 3d led tv?

Answer
In a 3d movie you have to have two images of everything. One for the left eye and one for the right. Then they have to be to the right and left of each other at different distances so they look like they are in front of or behind the screen. Or over lap as one image too look like they are at screen level. Now anaglyph 3d that uses glasses in two colors like red and cyan ( a blue green), green and magenta, yellow and blue, must have the two images those same colors. So if your glasses are red and cyan then all images for the right eye must be say red and all the left images cyan. Then the lenses block the opposite color so each eye only gets one image. Since they use color for the 3d effect any color tv and dvd player can do this 3d format.

Most people don't like anaglyph 3d. To do the other two 3d formats 1. polarized like in theaters or 2. field sequential that uses the shutter glasses you have to have a tv that can do them because they don't use color for the 3d effect.

For polarized you have to have half the pixels give out one polarized light wave and the other half give out a second polarized light wave, or have the pixels switch between two light waves some how. Then each lens of the glasses only let one light wave through. That way you can get one image to each eye. A regular tv was never made to do such a thing.

For field sequential you have shutter glasses. One lens will open while the other one closes and they do this back and forth very fast . Then when one lens is open the image for that eye flashes on screen. Giving each eye one image. Again you have to have a tv that can handle switching between to images and you need hardware to tell when the lenses of the glasses need to open and close. Plus you need a dvd player that can read the extra information of the movie in field sequential 3d.

Both polarized and field sequential 3d look the same, they just work different. Almost all tv's are going to use field sequential. Very few will use polarized.

I am going to volunteer my time at a local grocery store but how does it make a difference on a national level or even a global level?

Answer
You have just announced on an international web site that you are donating your time as a volunteer to a local grocery store. If someone reads it i Australia, or in another state and says "That is a good idea, I think I will, too!" then someone in that place hundreds and thousands of miles from where you now are will be benefited, and maybe another.

See, the concept of volunteering making an impact is not always that one person made a difference AROUND THE WORLD, but that one person made a difference IN THE WORLD, and maybe the one they helped made a difference, and, as the TV commercial says, "so on.and so on..and so on."

If I do a favor for someone I don't know, maybe I started a car, maybe I helped them carry something, maybe I lent someone who was really in need of some extra money (not a pnahandler who is making money as a predator, but someone who did not ask for it and needs it) whatever it is, I always ask that someone to help another in return-"Paying it forward" instead of paying it back.

The March of Dimes got started because people did just that-they went around their local neighborhoods collecting dimes to help fight polio-and when polio was beaten by Dr.s Salk and Sabin, the organization collected funds for other birth defects.

It started someplace.

Maybe your liking to help will help you in later years to do something more substantial because of the joy of doign something. Maybe it will help get people jobs, as it has, because the right person saw them working hard to help. Maybe one who is inspired by your example will make a difference. and maybe it won't...maybe it won't help anyplace but Your town, USA...but if nobody did anything because it never went further than their hometown, nothing would be done by the millions of people who did it just to help someone in need.

Your question led to my answer, and others. and maybe one of these answers will affect someone else.

So, see, there are so many ways one small act of kindness may pay off-and if we have faith, whether it be in GD or Fate or whatever it is, then we believe it will make a difference somehow.

See if any one else answers you, and see how many of them are not from Ohio, or from Brooklyn/Long Island, NY my current and previous residence areas...or from yours...and if so, then know you did have a small impact, if only to get another human being thinking about something.

Does anyone know anything about the mcpherson family alien Abduction?

Black Dyno

I saw a reenactment of this video online however there are no actual originals of this video online so I know that someone is hiding this information. Does anybody remember this being on tv back in 1998? if so tell me what you remember from the news cast please.

Answer
Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County (Alien Abduction: The McPherson Tape in Australia) is a found footage horror mockumentary directed by Dean Alioto. It is a larger-budget version of The McPherson Tape, and originally aired on UPN on January 18, 1998. Kristian Ayre plays Tommy, a teenager in Lake County, Montana, who is making a home movie of his family's Thanksgiving dinner when they are attacked and ultimately abducted by extraterrestrials. The film caused confusion and controversy among first-time viewers, many of whom believed it portrayed real events.

Though the tape is a depiction of a supposedly real incident, the actors' credits roll at the end, showing that the film is, in fact, a work of fiction. There's no information to hide.

The film is indeed a remake of The McPherson Tape, a home-video-style found footage/thriller film created by the same director. The fact that it is a remake of another tape led to confusion over which was the original tape and if the original was authentic. This was due to the fact that most were unaware that The McPherson Tape was in fact a work of fiction. The entire incident was filmed on a home video camera by the actor who played the McPherson's 16-year-old son. This was to appear as though it was a film of actual events.

See link for more info about the cast of this film.

How much power is wasted on the LED clock on a microwave oven in a year? Gas Oven? (in the US) Thanks.?

I had seen somewhere on the web that the typical use of a microwave oven would use more power for the LED clock in 10 years time then cooking. Looking to learn more.

Answer
After reading your question, I used my "Kill-A-Watt" meter and measured the consumption of my microwave oven.

The base load of the microwave is 2 watts. This number did not fluctuate based on the LED display. This is basically the power consumption of the electronic controls.

2 watts x 24 hours x 365 days x 10 years = 175,200 watt-hours or 175 kWh.

When operating at 100% power, my microwave oven draws 1750 watts. (1.75 kW) A bag of microwave popcorn takes about 3-minutes or 1/20th of an hour. (0.05 hours)

1.75 kW x 0.05 hours = 0.0875 kWh

Microwave frozen dinners take a bit longer, but boiling a cup of water for instant coffee or tea takes less time. I will assume that the average microwave "event" takes 3 minutes or the 0.0875 kWh.

If we assume a average of three microwave events per day, in one year this amounts to:

0.0875 kWh per event x 3 events x 365 days = 96 kWh.

Actually 2-watts is pretty low. Other applicances such as VCR's and TV's generally draw much more when they are turned off.

P.S. No, I don't have a supercharged microwave oven. It is rated 1200 watts, but that is the output used to heat the food. The actual power consumption from the electric utility is 1750 watts at full power. (measured with the Kill-A-Watt)

how to power a remote cabin with no wiring by means of wind turbine only?

Q. there are no transmission lines in the vicinity so power can't be brought in, and even if it did it would be far too expensive. So how wind in conjuction with solar power the cabin? is that even possible?

Answer
Hey Timewaster, we live in a solar and wind powered cabin now, so yes, it's possible. When you say remote cabin, it's a little like asking, "How much gas does a car use?" Your answer would start hitting on subjects like miles per gallon, total miles, vehicle weight, and stuff that a non car driver would not understand. A remote cabin might have a few lights, or a deep freezer, the difference in power needs is very dramatic, even if the two cabins were the same size. So usage is very key, but not easy to determine if you are not accustomed to doing that sort of thing. People like us have a curse, we have to know where each electron goes in our home, we know when the sun came up last August, and how much wind we got in December two years ago. When you have a finite amount of electricity to work with, you have to work with it. Leaving the TV on, or even owning one, becomes a double edge decision process.

Having said that, I'll give you some quick facts: Our "Cabin," is 1200 square feet, it has a home sized refrigerator, and a small deep freezer. We have Whirlpool laundry machines, a coffeemaker, microwave, two TV's and a stereo. Our usage is around 220 KWH per month, probably a fraction of what your home uses, but way more than a remote cabin should need. We use a 1.4 kw solar array, which takes up about the same area on the roof of our garage as a mid sized car might. Then there is a 900 watt wind turbine in the field, which is a bit larger than a ceiling fan, but probably too small to run our entire home. On real windy nights, it can barely do the job. In the end, we buy a little power from the power company most months, maybe five dollars worth. The good news is we can. In your remote cabin, that will not be an option. Not to fear, all you need is a generator to fill in the gaps, as most solar powered homes have them anyway. Our entire system cost around $13,000, and it runs just about everything in our home. Divide it over 20 years (240 months) and your electric bill is pretty reasonable.

If you can start small with that cabin, then do it. Just figure in minimum lighting, and at most, a very small apartment sized refrigerator that you unplug when you leave. For that, you could probably get by with a few hundred watts of solar power and no wind turbine. Turbines are really neat, they also live on a tall tower, are hard to install and maintain, make noise, and then they break down. My solar array has never had a drop of oil, never needed a screw turned on it, and it runs silently, and makes the same amount of power today it did 11 years ago. For a small system, I'd go with golf cart batteries, maybe 4 of them wired for 12 volts, and a 1500 watt inverter. Then do some DC lights, in particular LED light strips in a few key places, they are really efficient and work even if the battery is too low to fire up the inverter. Two or three hundred watts of solar panels, a charge controller (Xantrex C-40 for example) and the 4 batteries and inverter might set you back $1500, but if you learned how to hook it up, and did the work yourself, you would actually understand it and be in a good position to expand or build a larger system one day without someone selling you a bill of goods. It is pretty easy to add wind later if you want to. Southwest Windpower is a good example, they have a small 300 watt turbine that has its own internal regulator, just connect the two wires coming out of the bottom to the 12 volt battery and let it go. There are others, just get one that is designed for battery charging, not direct intertie to the utility grid. The 300 watt turbine costs about $600. Then when you are running short, you can run your generator, which can recharge the battery and run your small loads simultaneously, so you only have to run it an hour or two every few nights.

What you need to do is get educated first. Get a sub to Home Power Magazine, then try to get to one of the energy fairs listed in the mag. We did 12 years ago, and here we are today. Try not to put too much weight on sources like this, in my experience living with and teaching solar and wind in the local schools, I've found there are three things in vast supply, sun, wind and missinformation. Lots of people on these websites are happy to offer their expertise in this area, having never laid a hand on a wind turbine or solar panel. Get the mag, read the books and look up the sources, and you can learn from people like you and I that have already been there, not the ones reading the interesting articles in Popular Science. Take care Protime.....Rudydoo

Answer
I recommend buying a plasma. You can find cheap deals with plasmas especially online and then price matching it at your local sears, best buy, or circuit city. Panasonic especially. Plasma started with a bad rep in early years of production. but now plasma last as long as a lcd would. Plasmas create better pictures than a rear projection would and they save alot of space. Also a 178 degree viewing angle. so no glare. Plus they are in the $2500 to $3000 range. Plus with the price matching u can use the store's card to get 0% financing.

But if you still looking at rear projection. Take a look at the
SAMSUNG HL61A750 which is a led projection. Last longer than any projection tv where they don't use a lamp. Plus gives you a quailty of a LCD or Plasma. But the problem is the 128 degree viewing angle. so u basically have to seat center to get the best viewing experience

which is better, samsung or sony LCD TV?

Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-40Z4100/S 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV,
Product Description
When you think about slim LCD HDTVs, think BRAVIA Z-Series. Slim black or silver bezels and thin profiles accent the elegant yet functional design, with performance that's all Sony. 10-bit processing and 10-bit displays, x.v.Color technology and Deep Color render a wide color gamut and smooth color transitions. Motionflow 120Hz and 24p True Cinema provide smoother picture performance with unprocessed 24p film reproduction. Z-Series HDTVs include Sony's innovative DMex technology which offers an expandable platform that "future-proofs" Sony HDTVs, ensuring they connect seamlessly not only with current Sony camcorders, computers, and digital cameras, but also to devices that haven't even been invented yet. HDMI-CEC compatibility means you can control everything from one remote. They are DLNA compliant and offer Sonyâs unique PhotoTV HD.

This TV has numerous advantages over the Samsung 6xx and 7xx series which it is often compared to. First off, the Samsung's are fantastic TVs. The characteristics of the picture (color cast, primarily- which is different among makers- cool is cooler on one, neutral may be warmer on another and warm may be too warm for some viewers, etc.) should be judged by each individual viewer. There are some people who are going to like the Samsung's picture better than the Sony's, and vice versa.

That being said- I return to the advantages: Deep color and x.v. Color. Despite some spec sheets which show this set doesn't have x.v. color, it does. It has both deep & x.v. color, and one can only imagine that the reason the Sony marketing department may have chosen to leave that off spec sheets after the TV had already been designed was to better differentiate their much more costly XBR series TVs. On the other hand, the engineering and cost marketing departments had obviously found advantages in maintaining a common BOM with their latest chipsets which also support their 120 Hz Bravia Engine 2, etc. These must be common among this Z-series Bravia and the '08 XBR offerings, in my estimation.

The most important differentiation between this Sony set and the Samsung competition may be the true 24 Hz (or 24 FPS) playback of 24 FPS blu-ray material. This makes the Sony standards-compliant on three important new standards for High-Def that the Samsung simply ignores. Add exceptional image quality and build quality (in my eyes)- and the Sony is a no-brainer for ~$200 more than the Samsung.

I have been surprised by the omission of these important facts from other reviews. I have had the TV for over a month and bought it on Amazon- and I couldn't be happier. Of course their 48 month 0% financing deal also helped.

Samsung LED TV problems?

led tv flickering problem image

Trekker34

My Samsung LED tv is having some problems.

The screen will start to flicker, change colors, and eventually turn off when the tv has been on for a long time. However, today, it was only after about 3 hours of use. I also think that perhaps my PS3 is the culprit. How though? It seems to happen after my PS3 is on. I called Samsung about it and they're going to schedule a tech to come a look at it but am not sure if they'll be able to do anything.

They told me that only if they cannot repair the set...only then they'll try and replace it. I really don't want them to have to take the tv away to their shop but I have no idea what they're going to do. It's so incredibly frustrating.

Does anyone have any insight on what the technicians will do or how they'll try and repair it? Will they need to take the set away and if so, for how long?

Thanks for any help.

Answer
You need to ask those questions to the Customer Representative that you set up the appointment with or the repair person coming to your residence.

My new led Hdtv smells kinda like smoke?

mr. j

Well i just bought a new Vizio 32 inch LED TV and when i turn it on after a while it kinda smells sorta like smoke. Is something wrong with it.....does this happen to all LED tv's. Whats the problem does anyone know.
and by the way i bought this from target....so its not like i bought it from a guy in his little shop

Answer
DO NOT run it for a week or 2!
You have 7 days to return it for a FULL refund, the store tells you 30 (but that's to fool people), the law states that you can return defective electronics within 7 days of purchase for a full refund, ITS THE LAW and they have no right to refuse.

If you return it after 7 days the store can do whatever they want with you and your TV.

Burning means something IS BURNING, Replace it or take it back for a full refund!.

A few years ago, I baught a laptop and the screen flickered on me out of the box, I didn't waste a minute, long story short I had the same laptop in perfect working order 2 days later, so why wait?

Either your gonna do it sooner, or later... Do it as soon as possible (within 7 days!)

If they deny refund or replacement within 7 days then they break the law, threaten police intervention and they will INSTANTLY replace it for you, Guaranteed.

Ok so this is for a scholarship so I need ideas. Please help me brain storm this!!

"In 200 years, one of your relatives is going to be digging in what is now your backyard. They are going to find something that you buried in 2011 and it is going to put any financial worries they have to rest. Your job today is to decide what to bury. Your goal is to find something that will have immense value in the future."

must be currently sold in stores

Answer
Things that will be rare or extinct, especially the last of something.
A gallon of gas. By then it will either be extinct or sold for a billion dollars a gallon. ***
A library cards. **
Paper items. A sears catalog, a set of encyclopedias, news papers, library cards, a dictionary, a dictionary of slang, a phone book, computers for dummies, cell phones for dummies, etc **
Paper forms, income tax, job applications, medical, etc. **
Plastic items. Prepaid credit card, drivers license and other id's, membership cards, club cards, savings/discount cards, etc. **
Seeds, as many varieties as you can fine. Especially trees and grass **

Anything that has just been or is about to be banned or eliminated due to political correctness, addictive health issues, public safety issues, new laws, protests, etc.
A carton of cigarettes. **
Guns- hand guns assault rifles, but don't include ammunition, it's too unstable.
Caffeine products and pills. **, ***
The wrappers and menus from fast food joints like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC **
Candy wrappers. **

Collectible items and memorabilia especially newly invented or first issue items
A set of a book with both hard and soft cover versions, that just came out and is on the best sellers list. Be sure and include the best sellers list too. **
A set of coins and bills from the year it is buried. **
Comic books, DVDs, Books, Toys, etc. *, **
A bottle of wine ***

Tech stuff that is constantly changing
A TV, a radio, an MP3 player, a game console with game discs. *, **
A record player, a tape recorder, a CD player, a DVD player, a Blu-ray player, etc each with appropriate media. *, **
A cell phone with pictures, movies and music, etc on it. *
A laptop computer with web page archives of new popular sites *
A copy of the latest version of Microsoft OS and other products.
A blank floppy disk *
A thumb drive *
A GPS *

Common everyday items that will change by then.
Bills- electric, phone, insurance, utilities, rent, etc **
Prints of photos of the house interior and exterior, the inside of your refrigerator and freezer, car interior and exterior, the house's surroundings, local businesses, near by mall, etc. **
Currently trendy clothes and appeal.
A fashion magazine.
A news magazine.
A TV guide.

Things that are changing to protect the environment
Disposable but not biodegradable, diapers, an empty lighter, razors, plastic bags- grocery, trash, storage, etc. Plastic containers bottles, packaging, containers, etc. Cleaning supplies- Air fresheners, Swiffer duster/mops, soap, cleaning products, etc. **, ***
Light bulbs, all types, Incandescent, old florescent, compact florescent, and led.

Disposable and biodegradable, diapers, plastic bags- grocery, trash, etc. Cleaning supplies, green products, recycled products, etc. **, ***

Note- When burying these things they need to be sealed up properly so they don't degrade.

* Anything with batteries have to have them removed and an AC adapter included as the batteries won't last and corrosion will destroy anything they are in and don't forget the built in batteries in things. Also capacitors are bad except for solid state ones. And magnetic media will not last ie- hard drives floppy disks. Solid state media that doesn't loses it's information after x years should be used. Also include all cables, adapters, and manuals.

** Anything that is paper or otherwise degradable needs to be vacuum sealed. Anything that will fade should have a reference photo printed on and with permanent media and ink.

*** Corrosives, gas etc, need special containers, probably glass jars or bottles with a sealing method that won't degrade. Maybe melting the opening shut. Most lids/caps will degrade.

What is better Plamsa, LCD, or Full Array LED?

I'm looking to buy a 1080p 46ish inch tv. Plasmas appear to have the best looking color, but the one my Mother has in the living room has a faint speckling noise that is noticeable a foot away.

I'm looking for the best looking tv for blu rays and video games.

Answer
Plasmas seem to be better, I have a newer (2011) one- Panasonic Vierra. I don't have burn in or ghosting yet, and I play video games on it (it was a big concern of mine).

Im looking at buying a 32inch full hd led tv. My main use for it will be gaming and and just watching tv.I was browsing a store where I saw a hisense tv that had everything I was looking for and was very reasonably priced and the picture quality was good. Do you think that it will be a smart buy or just a bad cheap quality tv?

Answer
Actually Kurt... your friends below are actually wrong. Do some research first. Hisense have been the #1 TV sold in China for decades. They're are what Samsung is to South Korea. Just starting to boom in the USA now, but have been building a solid reputation globally. They get a lot of criticism due to the fact they're manufactured in China, but that's peoples aversion to 'made in China'. And that's fine, they understand that, but they back up their product 100% through top design quality and service. Hisense stand for value for your dollar. Sure the brand name isn't there yet but 10 years ago neither was Samsung or LG.
Gee whiz I should work for them I guess, it just frustrates me when people comment whilst being ill informed... I've had a Hisense TV in Australia now for 7 years and it hasn't missed a beat.

Why is my HD TV lagging?

Yahoouser

I just bought a 55" Full-HD LED TV (T36 Series, Hisense), and whist its great for the most part, certain channels sometimes have a few frames that seem very slow and laggy. So I'll be watching something and every now and then the frame rate will move in a very sluggish, slow manner for a few seconds at a time. For example; I'm watching the Tennis and this problem is even more obvious since tennis makes for a fast moving telecast. So its even clearer to detect but its always there. It happens for most channels including certain video games as well (most obviously sport video games.)

This is the TV I bought - http://www.hisense.com.au/products/t...8/209#features

Like I said I love it for the most part, its just this little buzzing problem annoys me since I didn't have this issue on my previous 32" HD TV. Can anyone help me with this? Is their something I need to adjust or something?

the menu all I see is the picture quality setting, the sound quality setting, the screen position settings, the options setting and the parental lock...

I have tried all the picture quality options which range from: user, bright, standard & dymatic and 1 or 2 more that I cant remember the names of, and all of those settings still have the lag problem.

can somebody help?

Answer
This is due to a poor antenna, make sure the antenna or Digital Converter box has a good Arial. Try contacting the manufacture, it's your best bet for help. But I'd say its the antenna .

Why everyone is working on LCD tvs despite the fact that Plasmas are better than Lcd tvs?

lcd tvs
on LG 42LC2D LCD TV Review - LCD TVs
lcd tvs image

Ankit Ramk

After analysing a lot, I concluded that despite being weaker on the burn-in and weight and power fronts, plasmas are much better than lcd tvs and the manufacturers also aceept this thing?
Then what don't they upgrade the plasma technology in place of lcd tvs?

Answer
$.

Companies that have focussed on manufacturing LCDs since the start have deals set up to manufacturer LCDs. It means their most cost effective manufacturing abilities are going to be with components for LCD TVs. So they're not going to re-negotiate new deals (which will cost them more) or have to retrofit their assembly plants (more $). They'll just try to keep milking their existing set ups.

And they need to get a return on their investments in the technology. They've had LED LCDs for years, but they didn't release them to the market until they felt they had enough return on CCFL LCDs. Now they're going to keep pumping the LEDs out until they get their money back on that technology. There's a lot of business side to this, nothing to do with quality.

And Sony has already put in place its replacement for the LCD. Its going to develop OLED. Right now it only has one model, an 11" TV costing $2,500. So its not consumer ready. But that's where they are going. OLED can beat Plasma in image quality, in theory (lets see in practical terms when there's an actual 50" OLED to look at).

And Laser TV is going to be a potential next gen option as well. Mitsubishi I believe is already selling one (though I think its north of $5,000 so not really consumer friendly). Unlike LCDs and Plasmas, it doesn't wear down over time. It runs at 100% until the day it dies.

So while these next gen technologies are being worked on, those manufacturers are going to just keep pumping out LCDs. They're not going to jump into Plasma, they're trying to leap frog Plasma.

Is the problem with my samsung lcd tv fixable without having to replace the lcd display?

While watching my 2 year old samsung LCD tv, several clusters of pixels (6 of them roughly 4"x4" each) began to gradually flicker rapidly back and fourth with different colors that do not match the rest of picture- it looks like little chunks of colorful static in several locations. Ideas as to the problem? Fixable without replacing the LCD?

Answer
its actually under the manufactures warrenty i know exactly what your talking about
basically what they do is split the screen into 4 quadrants and when you send it in they fix the quadrants

ummm samsung typically does 1 year warrentys
but if you bought and extended one from the store you bought it from take it back and they SHOULD take care of the problem

You can test a LCD at this site

Hope this help,

Is having an LED TV vs LCD Tv going to make any difference when watching Dish Network?

led tv hz image

Jag

I am thinking whether to spend $200 more on an Samsung LED 120 Hz TV vs Samsung LCD 120 Hz Tv. Do you think the picture quality of an LED TV will be better when watching HD Channels on Dish Network?

Answer
The claim that "LED gives better picture quality than LCD" is one of the most common myths in this business.

In the first place, an "LED" set is nothing more than an LCD set with a newer type of backlighting. They both have the same LCD display.

In the second place, lab tests and owner reviews demonstrate that the important factor in picture quality is the specific model of a set, not its brand or whether it uses LED backlighting. While LED technology does provide advantages, there definitely are conventional LCD sets with better picture quality than certain low-rated "LED" sets. You need to carefully look at test results and user reviews in order to make a valid decision.

So the bottom line for you, in my opinion, is no--the picture quality difference, if any, won't justify another $200, unless the specs, reviews, etc. of the cheaper set suggest otherwise.

Are LED Screen TVs really more energy efficient?

RobReads

I heard in a news report a while back that LED TV screens would use a lot less energy that any TV made so far. Now I see them on the market, but the ads don't stress this. Are they significantly more energy efficient?

Answer
Generally, if other things were comparable, an LED TV is more efficient than an LCD, and they are both better than CRT tvs. There is no true "LED" tv yet - they are LCD tvs that use an LED backlight. Still they gain a little efficiency.

The problem in comparison happens because there are so many variables.
Each generation of TV has a revised set of power settings - from basic brightness to "ambient light settings" and the power drawn when the device is off or in "standby". Even if we compare two similar 40" flat screen televisions, if I have mine set for maximum brightness and crank up the color levels, my TV will use 15-30% more energy than one that is tuned for efficiency.
If my TV has twice as many pixels, or I have a higher refresh rate.. then I use more energy again.

Since the newer TVs are the only ones using the LED technology, these same new TVs are likely to be "hi-def" (more pixels 720p, 1080p etc.. ), and higher refresh rates ( 60hz. 120 hz, etc..) - the comparisons are not true "apples-to-apples" comparisons.
If you could find a group of machines that had all the other features the same.. or at least very close.. the LED backlight vs the LCD backlight should save about 10% (per IEA.org link).
You might save almost that much just by unplugging the set when not in use.

Right now, only the small OLED screens we see on cell phones are true LED.
Unless you spend real $$$, true LED tv won't be available for several years yet.
(see last few links, engaget, sony, lg)

Is Vizio or Philips a good television brand?

best led tv ranking

best led tv ranking image

Atheos

I'm looking to get a new TV and the model I'm looking at is " Vizio 32" Class 720p 60Hz LED HDTV - Black (E320-A0)". Is Vizio a good brand? I've heard some good things about them but I've also heard some bad things. I was also looking at a Philips TV too. The model is "Philips 32" Class 720p 60Hz LED HDTV - Black (32PFL4507)". I'm looking to mainly just watch movies on it and occasionally play games on it.

Answer
Vizio: Yes
Philips: No

Vizio has gotten a little bit of an unfair reputation as a 'bargain" brand since they were classically found in Wal-Mart stores in the U.S. But - Consumer reports has consistently ranked them as a "Best Value" for the last several years and you can now find the in Best Buy, Costco and many other retailers. And because they are still the preferred brand of Wal-Mart...you can actually thank Wal-Mart for keeping the price point low on them. Overall - I would put Vizio around the 5th best manufacturer...and probably the 1st when it comes to value (cost/features).

Philips on the other hand has been a downward moving company for more than a decade and there products are now lumped in with the bargain brands (element, emerson, Sanyo, etc). I would avoid the Philips brand altogether.

With Americans being the leaders of obesity in the world will it ever be possible for them to get in shape?

Answer
Via the WHO

1. American Samoa, 93.5 per cent (of population thatâs overweight)

Traditionally, Pacific Islanders ate native foods high in complex carbohydrates and low in fat. That began to change dietary habits as family members abroad introduced those back home to Western eating.

Kriziaâs take: I was floored when I read that almost 100% of the population in Samoa was overweight. I mean, itâs incredible how countries are affected by the American diet. Youâll see this as a recurring theme among the other countries on this list!

2. Kiribati (in the Pacific Ocean), 81.5 per cent

Between 1964 and 2001, food imports to the least developed Pacific nations, such as Kiribati, increased six-fold. Those imports led to a huge influx in fatty food and processed meat, such as Spam and mutton flaps (fatty sheep scraps).

3. U.S., 66.7 per cent

In the early 1960s, 24 per cent of Americans were overweight. Today, two-thirds of Americans are too fat, and the numbers on the scale keep going up. Health experts attribute the rise to an over-production of oil, fat and sugar â the result of government farm subsidies started in the 1970s that made it much cheaper to manufacture products like high fructose corn syrup, a common ingredient in processed foods.

Kriziaâs take: I guess Americans arenât as fat as we thought they were given that 93% of Samoans are obese!

4. Germany, 66.5 per cent

When Germany found out that it was the fattest nation in Europe, health experts blamed the usual suspects: beer, fatty foods and lack of physical activity. Like the rest of the world, Germans are suffering from an easy availability of junk food and more sedentary jobs and lifestyles.

5. Egypt, 66 per cent

In the 1960s, Egypt produced enough food to feed its people a steady diet of red meat, poultry, lentils, maize and dairy products. But by the 1980s, the population had outgrown food production, leading to an increase in food imports that created poorer eating habits.

Kriziaâs take: Hereâs another country that really surprised me a lot. I always thought that Egyptian lived off a Middle Eastern diet, which is usually known to be quite healthy.

6. Bosnia-Herzegovina, 62.9 per cent

Smoking, drinking and eating unhealthy foods spiked during the war that ravaged the country from 1992 to 1995. Those living just above the poverty line are gaining weight the fastest, partly because of the tendency to fill up on cheap processed foods high in calories and low on nutritional value.

7. New Zealand, 62.7 per cent

Researchers found that how much time New Zealand children spend watching television is a better predictor of obesity than what they eat or how much they exercise. The study found that 41 percent of the children who were overweight by age 26 were those who had watched the most TV.

8. Israel, 61.9 per cent

In the past 30 years, the number of obese Israelis has tripled. As in most developed countries, obesity is most prevalent among Israelis with less education.

9. Croatia, 61.4 per cent

Croatia is a victim of the globalization of the food market, which tends to suppress traditional diets as cheaper processed foods from the U.S. and Europe flood store shelves.

10. United Kingdom, 61 per cent

A recent survey ranked the British among the bottom third of European nations in physical exercise, leading Health Secretary Andy Burnham to comment, âWeâre really in danger of being known as the best in the world for watching sport, but one of the worst for getting out there and doing it for ourselves.â

I am looking for an HD 1080p LED TV 120HZ 40'' or bigger. My spending limit is $800 (Yes I know, for these specs its almost impossible) But are there any sales or black friday sails you know of that fits the price for these specs?

Answer
I got a brand new 46" Sony Bravia 1080p LED TV at 120 Hz refresh rate for $805 shipping included off of Amazon about two months ago. Look that up and check out the "used" prices. There is an outlet store that is affiliated with Amazon that sells B-stock items, items with damaged original cartons, etc. (B-stock is refurbished, scratch and dent, factory returns, etc). The TV I got was in a plain cardboard carton instead of the Sony box. But, it was perfect and everything was there.

Should I bother buying an LED TV over a regular LCD?

Pickles

Im considering buying an LED tv by Vizio (23 inch Razor LED) because it is on sale. Should I even bother at this small of a screen size?
To add, the LED TV is actually cheaper than the other one I'm looking at by about $50. And please don't suggest larger TV's as the cabinet I will be putting it in wont fit anything larger than a 24 inch.

Answer
If there is a big cost difference between the LED set and an equivalent LCD with conventional backlighting (fluorescent), I'd buy the cheaper set. The performance will be essentially the same. Theoretically, the fluorescent lamp will eventually burn out while the LEDs won't, but I'd expect a Vizio to fail for some other reason before that happens.

I would like to buy a 5.1 home theater system and a LED TV. My desired place to watch it is in family room with a fireplace. I know I could hang the TV above fireplace but not sure about the home theater (Blue ray DVD player, receiver and speakers). I would also like the wires be concealed.

Thanks.

Answer
Use a private company, thasts what I did in my house for ALL my televisions / my home theater. Not sure where you live but the company i used was dhdpros.com | Private companies will never rip you off and generally use the greatest technology. (my house uses a program called "Control 4" i can turn off my kids' bedroom lights / TVs from the basement.)

And also, the fire won't affect it. If you want a picture of my hearth room ill send you one.

How to set up speakers for my media player?

Bryan Patr

I have an asus oplay mini and i am thinking of getting either e 2.1 or 5.1 speaker. However I am not sure if I should connect it on my led tv or to the media player itself which has the red white yellow cables.

One more thing is the speaker i was looking are the one's used for desktops or laptops, I can't seem to find the one's that came with bluray or dvd players.

Answer
This is the thing. For most PC speakers, 2.1 speakers are just stereo sepeakers with a subwoofer, they use a crossover to get the bass frequencies from the stereo signal from the stereo signal fed to it. The 5.1 PC speakers do that for stereo input mode. To get actual 5.1 audio, they mostly have discrete 5.1 input , which most modern desktop PCs have. The oplay likely has a digital or optical out, that means you need a separate (not easy to find) Dolby decoder to use with PC 5.1 speakers, and won't get that great of a sound.

Home Theater -in-a-box systems (the ones with a DVD surround in one) often just decode 5.1 from the DVD - the only inputs are stereo, which at best can provide pro-logic surround. The speaers that come with them are made for them as part of a system.

Real surround for other devices is achieved with a surround receiver, which has a decoder, controls, and amplifiers for all the speakers other than the subwoofer, usually. With those, you buy the speakers separately, including an amplified subwoofer.
