Does the Samsung LED have more glare than the LCD?

Kristen S

Just purchased the LED because the picture quality looked a bit clearer in the store. However, we placed the tv directly across from a picture window and there is tons of glare. Would I have as much glare with the LCD? Maybe we'll just have to invest in some blinds or move the tv to another part of the room. The picture is perfect at night!

Answer
Samsung uses their "Clear Screen" technology in the A650, A750 A850 and now in the 2009 B650, B6000 & B7000 LCD products. Though these screens pass more light than any other LCD screen on the market, they also have the most reflections and glare of any LCD screen. In fact, these screens produce more reflections and glare than today's Panasonic plasma TVs with their Anti-Reflective filter. Control you light source(s) and this TV will reward your with a fanatistic picture.

Additional Details: Samsung uses the same LCD screen in the new LED series (6000, 7000 & 7100) as they use in the high-end LCD series (650, 750 & 850). Remember that the LED series is still a LCD HDTV, it just used LED back lighting instead of wide color gamut florescent tubes. There is not more glare on the LED series TVs, just the same amount of glare as on the LCD series.

Is there a big difference between matte and glossy screens?

Bacon

The laptop that I want only comes in matte.
My old desktop and college laptops are in matte and the quality is just terrible when compared to my glossy 15" laptop or 40" LED TV.

I can barely look at them, I get eye strain and feel depressed.. which is somewhat strange...

I'm unsure if it's because my desktop is a few years older and the screens on the laptops have bad graphics cards or perhaps they have damage-resistant layers?

Anyway, could you tell me just how different matte is from glossy.
I get 0 reflections on my current glossy screen as my lamp and lights in the house all have shades. In my bedroom the windows face the back of my laptop, hence no glare.

Thank you

Answer
Hi troll,

Glossy screens have vibrant colors and high contrast and brightness because they have a smooth, high-gloss surface. Glossy screens use optical coating to reduce the amount of reflected external light. Their shiny surfaces reflect more light than matte displays. In controlled environments, such as darkened rooms, or rooms where all light sources are diffused, a glossy display may be more enjoyable for the viewer.

Matte screens have anti-glare finish, to scatter the reflected light. Matte screens diffuse light instead of reflecting it so they might be easier to read outdoors, if the backlight provides enough brightness. This characteristic, however, has a number of side effects, which include scattering the light from the display and increasing the blur. Additionally, it results in reduction of the contrast ratio, color intensity, and viewing angle.

Hope the information is useful to you.

Thanks and Regards

How can I get the third monitor to work?

Nic

My graphics card is the XFX Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. I am capable of running two monitors, an HDMI device, and 2 Minidisplay port devices. I just recieved my HDMI to Minidisplay Port adapter. I even have a DVI to HDMI adapter for monitor # 2. I'd like to be able to run both monitors and LED TV. Problem is, when I get two to work, the other monitor won't even come on. When I attempt to extend its display to my desktop, it says "unable to save changes." When I unplug my adapter from the Minidisplay port, both primary monitor and tv go off, but the second monitor comes on, and vice versa. Would someone be so kind as to explain to me how to get my third display to work? Thanks!

Answer
you'd better to find a professional team or CCTV lcd monitor manufacturer ( http://www.ddw.net ) to deal with this in case to avoid more bigger cost.

Why does my led tv buzz when I dim the lights in my room?

Ryan

I've read other people have had the same problem with led tv's, but usually their problem is corrected when they turn the backlight on their tv all the way up. My tv still buzzes at any backlight setting. I live in a somewhat new house, I wouldn't think that's its a problem with the wiring. When my room lights are turned all the way up their is a faint buzz, but when I dim my lights in my room the buzz gets much louder and I can hear it over the tv at times during quiet scenes. Would a power conditioner help me? or should I consider a replacement tv? Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer
Wow....I use a dimmer and my LED is unaffected. I would change the coaxial cable between the wall and the Cable box (or TV receiver) and/or the coaxial cable (if you're using one) between cable box and TV. I'm suspecting a loose ground shield may cause this type of problem. The dimmer switch itself is probably radiating some noise that's being picked up by the TV. I'm thinking that replacing the TV may not eliminate the problem.

Answer
The best site for Audio video enthusiasts is Avn forums there are pros and noobs to people who install 500.000 dollar tvs yes there is a 150 in pro Panasonic that costs a half a million dollars! And Panasonic and Samsung are within 2 points of each other, the earlier Panasonics had rising black issues well documented, no tv is perfect. The best plasma is still the pro pioneer kuro, even used, and as far as Sharp its an led not plasma.A great tv but it's a full array local dimming led.I have been installing home theaters for 20 years. You get what you pay for! As better tvs have better quality materials, the consumer drove prices and quality down, everyone wants cheap tvs and to be cheap and make a profit the company's use lesser quality parts. That's a fact. For the best picture quality a plasma has natural warmly under saturated colors, as opposed to the cartoony look of leds. Some may like that look, most don't especially after seeing a good calibrated plasma.Samsung sells more tvs than any other company but panasonic makes an awesome plasma I would say without hesitation panasonic st50,gt50.and new upcoming vt50,also the samsung e8000,e7000,e5000 are great also. And whichever tv you get, have your tv Isf calibrated with a sencor analyzer for the best picture possible.About 10k for the tester alone.Worth 3-400 bucks for the job.

Which would be the better option/picture quality, LED or LCD with 3D capability? What are quality differences?

best led tv costco
 on Vizio 70
best led tv costco image

Douglas

I am looking for a 42-inch flat screen TV. I'm looking at a Vizio model which is LCD with 3D and wireless internet capability. However I also like the advantages of the LED rather than LCD. I'm on a rather tight budget and I want the biggest bang for the buck. I'm not in a huge hurry to buy, so should I just wait until an LED 3D becomes affordable... or perhaps 4D?

Answer
picture quality wise, they are pretty much the same, but we are talking about more on the features of a specific TV. i mean, check out these features for better picture quality:

1. the resolution - the best one is a 1080p
2. refresh rate - the higher the better, example (240hz is better than 120hz)
3. contrast ratio, again, the higher the bett ( 1,000,000:1 is better than 500,000:1) - but take note that every brand/manufacturrer have their own formula on computaing the contrast ratio of the tv.

these thre features are the one to check if you want a good picture quality.
you might also read reviews before buying one. you can buy at best buy or costco, and you can return the tv with no restocking fees and hassles.

any other features like wi-fi, google tv, netflix are just additional but won't affect he picture quality. also, take note that if you buy an LED tv, do not expect a great quality sound and/or speakers.

Get on a computer, watch tv, play xbox, and ps3 all on the same monitor?

jsilver97

ok so i wanna use a computer lcd or led monitor depending which one works best and i might get dish satelite so i wanna know how can i watch tv with that and i want to but this at costco maybe? or some other cheap retail store.

Answer
Get yourself an 1080p HDTV. That would have enough inputs to let you hook up all those things.

Typical HDTVs might have 3 HDMI ports and 1 VGA port. You can put your PC on the VGA port, and everything else (PS3, XBox 360, Dish HD) on HDMI.

I am 19 and have worked steady for a year and a half. i am currently still being payed under the table. $120 daily wage. But have pay check stubs and bank records stating i have had a steady income too make proper payments. i dont have a credit card therefore i have no credit i have a vehicle, and i have parents to co sign for me if needed. The tv i want is a 60in samsung LED TV the price is 1499.99, i plan on purchasing from best buy. So my question to you is, How do i purchase this tv without the money upfront? My names Russ and thank you for reading my story i hope you have helpful input.

Answer
My advice is that if you don't have the money upfront, don't buy it. You don't need a $1500 TV, just buy a cheaper one and save up for it if you really want it. Having said that maybe if you just show them the deposits that'd be enough, if not have your parents cosign and maybe thats enough but if not then maybe you have no way to get the TV yet (which might be a good thing - $1500 TV, you don't need that)

What is the best Plasma to buy in my price range?

killmeded

I recently bought a Sharp Aquos 52 inch LED backlit LC52LE700UN. I returned it because the motion blurring was too much for me to enjoy video games on. I've since decided to use the money to buy a plasma. Could anyone reccommend something in the 1500-2000 range with a comparable picture without the blurring problem?
50+ inches would be preffered.

Answer
Panasonic is the best brand when it comes to Plasma. The G10 or 15 (2009) or the G20 oe 25 for 2010. It is a THX (higher standard quality for videos) certified tv 50". You can actually get an S model
65" for under $2,000 at Costco. They also offer you a 90 day return policy and one extra year of factory warranty. Best Buy with a Magnolia department will have the higher end Panasonic Plasma tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on Panasonic tvs. Hope this will help you out.

How do i get the correct resolution on my 22" LCD TV when using it as a computer monitor?

led tv as computer monitor image

Tristan

I'm using a 22" LCD TV as a computer monitor at the moment, because i am unable to afford a monitor right now. It's a 22" LCD Toshiba TV, and i am using a HDMI to DVI cable, HDMI is in the TV, and the DVI is in my computer (Graphics card is GeForce GTX 650) and i have updated my Graphics cards drivers and all that, but when ever i select a resolution, every single resolution i select is quite blurry and just horrible to look at. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

Answer
No, there is no way you can fix it, your tv has a high response time which leaves ghost images, blurriness, fuzziness etc. I went through the same problem you are and will never use a tv again as a computer monitor. If the tv or pc monitor has any higher than a 2ms response time you get the problems with blurriness. 2ms response time is required for smooth motion playback motion and clear picture imaging.
Most lcd and led tvs are 8ms or higher. when you get ready to buy a monitor make sure to check the response time and buy one with a 2ms response.

I'll give you a link to a very good monitor it sells for $175 not including shipping charges on amazon. It would give you perfect picture with no ghosting. If you are saving up, I suggest you buy this monitor from amazon.

ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL- What is the difference between a 24" 1080p LED TV vs Monitor FOR USE AS A MONITOR?

enderw3000

I'm using this as my computer monitor. I have my own speakers and do not need to use TV speakers. I am just asking if theres any difference between the outputs of a 1080p LED TV vs 1080p LED Monitor? (ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL)

Answer
Better refresh, better response time (for the monitor)

Modern monitors are like that? 5ms or even 2ms response time? And monitors will do whatever refresh the video card says to do. :)

Q. Answer
You mean aside from using the remote and switching them to the same channel? And aside from looking at the brand/model name? Aside from simply LOOKING at them?

You can tell LCD and Plasma TVs apart by comparing how well they manage to display "pure black". Due to the technique, LCD screens only manage a dark grey as the screen has to be back-lit to work while a LED or Plasma screen simply doesn't display anything in the area to show black.

Will my 7in portable led NTSC TV with Digital Tuning work after 2/19/09?

soddy

After that date they will stop broadcasting analog signals. I use the tv in a camper and have outside antenna. Will I need to buy a converter box?

Answer
What is the make & model number of the TV?

NTSC = analog tuner
ATSC = digital over the air tuner

"with Digital Tuning " doesn't say anything

If the portable TV is more than a year old, it's almost sure to need a converter box. If it cost less than $149 (new), it's almost sure that it needs a converter box.

If you are going to power it with an AC inverter, you could use any model of of converter (I recommend the Zenith/Insignia model). If you want a converter to run directly on a 12 volt battery, the Artec T3AP Pro is the model to look at.

What are Full HD and HD ready with regard to LED TVs?

Saad

We are planning on buying a new LED TV; however, we are confused as to whether we should buy a full HD TV or HD ready TV. Do they really have to do something with the quality of video aired by TV channel stations?

Answer
This is a very confusing terms. Let me explain the story:

In the US - there were lawsuits over the type of antenna signals. TV Makers had a problem. If they included tuners designed with 1 type of antenna signals and the format changed, the televisions would not work with an antenna. So they started building and selling televisions WITHOUT tuners. This worked great for people with satellite or cable box's who did not care about using an antenna, and consumers who did want to use an antenna could buy an external box for .. $150.

This caused confusion so they made a law that these televisions had to be called "HD Ready".

This had nothing to do with 720 or 1080 or "full HD" - In the United States.

In Europe and India - the term could mean something different. Learn this before you purchase.

MY ADVICE:

IF the screen size is below 40 inches - you can get away with a HDTV that is native 720.

If the screen size is above 40 inches - get the 1080 version.

Hope this helps.

I bought a new 52 inch led tv - the picture is amazing, but it's like you are watching a home movie where you can see every little jerky movement of the camera. Unless I am watching a completely stationary shot, it's really annoying. I've tried turning the motion setting from 120 hz high, to 120 hz low, to completely off - no difference. It's actually making me motion sick... has anyone else had this problem w/ LED tv or this brand in particular? Also one other thing - the picture makes it seem like you are actually on a movie set or behind the scenes, instead of watching an actual movie (seems fake, especially with the weird camera movements), is there anyway to get the picture to look like a "normal" movie picture? I am about to return this thing & move my old LCD back upstairs, but want to know first if there's a way to fix the problem...
Amanda - that is exactly how mine looks too, like I'm watching a cheap soap opera! the sets look fake and bad camera motion. I've tried changing the motion settings too but that doesn't seem to make a difference...

Answer
I'm having the same problem with mine looking like a cheap soap opera or home video. I've been playing around with my TV settings while waiting for someone to answer my question. I've found that turning my "TruMotion" off has helped immensely. I have an LG brand TV, so it may be called something different on yours? It has Off, Low, Medium, and High settings.

I need a a camra that can rocord?

Floridaman

i need a camra that can record all i want to record is some 3ds game play and so ding dong dching

Answer
I my opinion. you should buy Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 Digital Camera , it has two camera so it can easily capture you 3d scenes and lots more. why i suggest you because i have used it for so much time and i feel it so great. My View's
First off it's pretty easy to use. Menu functions are simpler than I expected. It was faster to jump in and start poking around the menus than to try and read the manual first. When I had a question is when I referred to the manual. Even then, the quick start manual provided will often refer you to the full users manual which comes on the CD provided. Not good when your out in the field(where else are you likely to be?).

The quality of the display is astonishing. I went around the office this morning taking pictures of co-workers and even the ludites were impressed. I took a couple dozen shots inside our office most with the lights off and this camera takes great low light pictures.

Video wasn't quite as good. The PQ was ok but the video was kind of jerky. It didn't seem to be recording at full 24fps. It should work better on a tripod recording subjects moving and avoiding fast pans.

After a little trial and error I was able to view pics and video on my Mitsubishi 65C9 by connecting it to the mits 3DA-1 converter(same as you would do with any other, non-checkerboard, 3D source). I set the camera to display side by side. I also used a mini HDMI cable(not supplied)I had lying around. I doubt it was ver. 1.4 as recommended but I wasn't connecting to a 1.4 TV like most of the new LCD, LED or Plasma 3DTV's.

I didn't really like the way they designed the aux. power supply which is a proprietary device(not included)shaped like the battery that slide in place of the battery and requires you to flip open a little access flap to allow the wire to exit the camera when the battery compartment door is closed. On the other hand I rarely have need for auxiraly power but someone (a professional perhaps) might want this for studio work.

All in all I really love this camera for most of the usual 2D merits and, of course, for the very good 3D functionality.
You can read full review that i have found :
http://www.reviewbyh20.blogspot.com/2011/11/fujifilm-finepix-real-3d-w3-digital.html

Hope you'll enjoy.....

I'M Not Lu

Why did the Syrian Civil war start. What is each side starting for? Please be brief, I simply want a basic understanding of what's going on, then I will do extensive research on my own.

Answer
George Soros decided to start another colored revolution, he in cooperation with the US State Department recruited some so called activists and provided training, electronic equipments, and money to them. These activists launched a campaign against the popular Syrian president and got little support, then Islamists joined them and with billions of Dollars paid from Qatar and Saudi Arabia under cover of the US/UK, it was easy for them to recruit poor and disadvantaged peasants into their armed militias, then the war broke out as you see in news TV. This is not an uprising, this is a U.S led act of aggression against a sovereign state aiming at destroying its national unity, economy, and military in order to get its citizens kneel before the Israeli/American invaders of the Middle East

Answer
You may bring it back on the airplane with you and TV will be tax exempt. My wife and I live in the Philippines during the winters months back home in the states. I have brought electronics for our Manila condo and have NEVER subject to import tax. See ruling below

Sec 105 of Tariff Code, sub paragrah F and F1 allows Balikbayan returning
Filipino's to bring one like item into the country and pay no import tax.

Update - As far as I know Sec 105 of Tariff Code only covered what is shipped via aircraft.. If you ship electronics via Balikbayan box, you are subject to import tax

Can i improve my crysis pc game frame rate when connected to my led tv?

speedyalla

actually my crysis game runs at only 24 fps when i play from my laptop at max settings and there is absolutely no problem with key response when i play at max settings but only the reduced frame rate.and when i connect to my old lcd tv the frame rate is still the same and no problem.but now when i came to know all about the motion interpolation feature that the led tvs have,i became happy.i use this automotion plus feature to watch my blurays.it is extremely smooth.so if i connect my laptop to the tv and and play the crysis game which is only running at 23fps and if i turn on the automotion plus feature, then i would surely be able to play the game at improved fps rite?
as far as i know, there are only certain times when some flaws appear in the picture due to interpolation, but thats not a problem,i can live with that

Answer
Motion interpolation isn't recommended for gaming. It does not actually increase your framerate, it only makes it seem like it by blending the frames together. This also increases input delay considerably, which is definitely not ideal for gaming.
It's better for movies because you're not actually "playing" the movie like a game - no form of input is needed.

What tv should I get?

L baller

Im trying to decide between a Vizio Razor LED 22 inch tv (22" Vizio LED LCD 1080p HDTV) and a Hitachi 22 inch LED TV( 22" Hitachi LED LCD 1080p HDTV) By the way both of these TVs are on samsclub.com
They are for my car.

Answer
There is no definite answer. Vizio in general gets higher marks than Hitachi in Consumer Reports, but that doesn't mean that an individual model of one brand is better than all models of another brand.

But since you're buying from Sam's Club, don't be concerned. Make your best choice, and if you don't like it, you can take it back for an exchange or refund within 90 days.

Side comment: for your car? Interesting. I assume you have a DVD player and a power inverter. Did you consider an RV set that comes with a 12-volt input? Just curious.

What is the difference between and LCD, LED, or a plasma screen TV?

I'm looking for a new TV and was wondering what the difference between these were. Do they look any different on different size TVs.

Answer
LED is not as nice as the other two, but less expensive to repair.

LCD and Plasma are neck and neck on picture quality.

LCD is so expensive to fix that you would do better to get a new TV if anyone ever breaks it. It is HIGHLY fragile because it is made of liquid crystals within thin sheets of glass that are encased in a solid pane that won't prevent a thing if it gets dropped.

Plasma is subject to "burn in" which is an irreversible image that can remain burned into the picture if it is left on "pause" for 10+ hours, though most new Plasma TVs have found a way around that w/new technological improvements to their design.

Plasma is known to have a shelf life of 10 yrs. That is with constant use. I paid $700 for a 55" Plasma screen at a pawn shop. It's got a big, beautiful screen, and according to the manufacturer's label on the back its already 3 years old. I asked the man behind the counter why it was so low in cost. I'd been watching it for a year and he just took $1,000 off of it. He told me it was because of it's reputation for burn in and needing to be "charged" again after 10 years (another cost that may be more sensible to just purchase a new TV instead). The way I figure it, I've got about 7 years left (I really don't even WATCH tv, much less constantly!) so that puts me at about $100 a year. I will probably want a new TV in 7 years anyway.

Does the Samsung Series 6 have a completely LED screen?

Ryan

I just bought a series 6 LED and I heard it was not completely LED and that just the outline is. Then I heard that the series 8 LEDs are completely LED.

Answer
The series 6 Samsung is an LCD type TV.. If you want a really good LED TV, look at the Samsung Luxia 600, 700 or 8000 series 9.!. You do not want to get a 'side-lit' LED.. You want a full backlit LED!! They are a bit pricey, but the pictures are extremely good and bright, with excellent contrast ratios. A full backlit LED has a viewing angle as good or better than a plasma!!

What makes 3d led tv better than others like it?

Answer
There has been a lot of hype and confusion surrounding the introduction of "LED" Televisions. Even many marketing representatives and sales professionals that should know better are falsely explaining what an LED Television is to their prospective customers.

To set the record straight, it is important to note that the LED designation refers to the backlight system used in some newer LCD Televisions, not the chips that produce the image content.

LCD chips and pixels do not produce their own light. In order for an LCD television to produce a visible image the LCD's pixels have to be "backlit". For more specifics on the backlighting process needed for LCD Televisions,

LED TVs are still LCD TVs. It is just that these new sets use LED backlights rather than the fluorescent-type backlights used in most other LCD TVs.

In other words, LED TVs should actually be labeled LCD/LED TVs.

How LED Technology is Used In LCD TVs

The are currently two main ways that LED backlighting is applied in LCD flat panel televisions.

One type of LED backlighting is referred to as Edge Lighting. In this method, a series LED backlights are placed along the outside edges of the screen. The light is then dispersed across the screen. The advantage of this method is that the LED/LCD TV can be made very thin. On the other hand, the disadvantage of Edge lighting is that black levels are not as deep and the edge area of the screen has a tendency to be brighter than the center area of the screen.

The other type of LED backlighting is referred to as Full-Array. In this method, several rows of LEDs are placed behind the entire surface of the screen. The advantage is that these sets can employ "local dimming". Local dimming means that each LED or a specific group of LEDs can be turned on and off independently within certain areas of the screen, thus providing more control of the brightness and darkness for each those areas, depending on the source material being displayed. On the other hand, LCD TVs that employ full array backlighting are thicker than LCD TVs that employ an Edge-lit LED light source.

If you are considering the purchase of an LED/LCD Television, find out which brands and models are currently using the Edge or Full Array method and take of a look at each type when you go shopping to see which type of LED backlighting looks best to you.

What is the main advantage of using oled TV over current led TV?

Right now I am using Samsungâs 32â LED TV and enough satisfied with its performance. Know why should I go for oled TV if I have to choose one? When even it also cost a lot high than led TV.

Answer
Because there are many advantages of OLED TVs as compared to LED TV, like low power consumption, better contrast ratio, wide viewing angle, very fast response, no back light needed, thinner, lighter, and can display deep black levels. Of course it is expensive at present because it is the latest tech. in the market in the field of TV display and hope the price will go down very soon.

What crafting, home decor, and/or fashion magazines can I subscribe to from the USA?

Alyssa

I'm looking for inspirational crafting, home decor, and/or fashion magazines that will ship to the USA. I found a magazine called Frankie, but it's only available in Australia as far as I could see. Google searches didn't bring up anything that fit what I need. The magazines I do NOT want: sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, quilting.

I plan on reading these magazines and cutting them up after I've finished them, all to add these inspirational images and articles to an inspiration board, and turn the remainder into envelopes for snail mail.

Please help?

What is the best deal for a tv now with a $850 budget?

Q. Which tv would I get the biggest savings on compared with its quality? I want something with good sound, and good picture. I have an 800 dollar budget, but could go up to 900 if it was good enough.

Answer
I would recommend a Panasonic 50" model S2, it is available at Best Buy for $899. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that more Panasonic Plasma tv is recommended than any brand in the market today.
Also if you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD/LED and 95% of those are bargain price tvs. Hope this will help you out.

Is it worth waiting for the January sales to buy a new TV?

Jackyboi

Or would it not make a difference considering there are always deals online?

What do you think?

I'm after a 47" LED.

Thanks.

Answer
The best time to buy electronics is between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
