What is the difference between LED and LCD?

ÙWhich one is better? WHY??

Answer
OLED > Plasma > LED > LCD. (LED is a upgrade from LCD, a LED is a LCD tv, but with LED back and/or edge lights which improves many things and make it almost as good as Plasma = Don't even consider LCD).
- Plasma has the best picture and sound quality. Plasma has no motion blur problems. You should know that all tv's have burn in problems, newer plasma's fixed their burn in issues with burn in technologies like pixel shifting/scrolling.ect, you still don't want to leave static images on it for long periods of time (to be safe put the white scrolling on for a few minutes before/after using if your that worried). Plasma has improved screen glare problems, but they still kinda glare and don't do to well in bright rooms while LED is good for bright rooms. Newer plasma's are more energy efficient, but LED can still beat them by a little. Plasma is usually cheaper to buy, but more expensive to make while LED's are more expensive to buy, but more cheaper to make LED is more thinner and environment friendly to make and also LED tend to last longer then plasmas.
- I recommend at least 40 inches or more and at least 1920x1080p, if it's 30-40 inches I would still go with 1080, but if it's under 30 inches just go with 1280x720p.

Brands that I like the most and probably from best to least:
- Top brands = Panasonic (Plasma), Samsung (LED), LG (LED), Sony (LED). - Top off brands for LED = Vizio, Toshiba, Phillips.

You want 120hz refresh rate at least or more, don't eeven consider 60hz refresh rate because you will get motion blur and judder, a little guide on the whole hz is below.

FPS = frames per second (of a video).
- Frame rate is how many individual images are displayed in a second. Think of a video as a fast moving flip book.
- NTSC tv broadcasting countries use 30p or 60i fps. or PAL tv broadcasting countries use 24p/25p or 50i fps. Movies for most/all countries use 24p fps, movies are soon to be up to 48p fps (tv may have a cinematic effect which doubles the fps of a video).

Hz = refresh rate (of a tv).
- Example: A tv with a 120hz refresh rate, meaning it refreshes the entire tv screen 120 times a second. Read the below on how the fps of a video works with the refresh rate of a tv.

How LED tv (aka a LCD tv with LED backlights) or LCD tv refresh rates work?
- LED backlights are faster and use less energy consumption than LCD backlights. Both tv's use backlight scanning.

- Many tv's allow viewers to use motion interpolation frames and they are what cause gamer lag and the soap opera effect by creating more fake frames (higher fps) in between the real frames to match the refresh rate of a tv.
- The soap opera effect is when the video looks too life/unrealistic like due the really high frame rates and sceneries may look fake looking.
- Names of motion enhancement technologies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_inteâ¦

- Many tv's allow viewers to turn off interpolation and force the television to repeat the same frame a number of times to match the refresh rate of a tv.
- Example: To display 24 frames per second on a tv with a 120hz refresh rate, each frame is repeated 5 times every 24th of a second.

But what happens if the fps of a video does not divide into the refresh rate of a tv equally? = Then you get a a pulldown.
- A pulldown is what causes a jittery screen also known as judder and that's because it repeats the odd frames a different number of times it repeats the even frames of a video. The ratio of the pulldown will depend on the refresh rate of the tv.
- Example: A 3:2 pulldown is most popular because it is needed to match a 24p fps of a video with a 60 hz refresh rate of a tv. = 12 odd frames times 3 is 36 frames and 12 even frames times 2 is 24 frames and 36 frames plus 24 frames = 60 frames for a 60 hz refresh rate of a tv.

What happens if those fps into hz processions cause lag when your playing a video game on a bad tv? (motion interpolation frames is what vendor mainly cause lag).
- Game mode turns off the vendor processors which are one cause of lag when your playing video games, but that means the refresh rate will match the fps of a video which means you then might get motion blur because of the really low refresh rate the tv is running at.

How does a Plasma tv refresh rate work? (plasma also have faster response times to change from one frame to the next btw).
- 600hz = is the total of the refresh rate multiplied by the pixel sub fields = just a marketing term.
- Example: 60hz refresh rate x 10 pixel sub fields = 600hz (or 600hz / 60hz = 10 pixel sub fields). = A plasma tv creates 10 dark images that your brain combines into one full-brightness image 60 times = think of it like interpolation pixels.
= Plasma has no motion blur problems (as long as the fps and sub fields are high) = plasma does not use motion interpolation frames which means no soap opera effect or no gamer lag.

What is a good brand for a tv?

I'm thinking of buying a 32 inch but not sure in which brand. I don't want to spend too much money but still want a decent tv so what are my options? I'm mostly going to play xbox on it if it makes a difference

Answer
A lot of TVs that are 32" have around the same input lag so I dont think plasma would be a good choice as its benefits are less pronounced in TVs less than 42". I would go for a LED TV from LG (LM5800). Sony would be an ok choice too if you want to shell out a few xtra bucks. I have a larger 55" LG LM9600 that I game on (calibrated) and under the right settings I get around 30-40 ms of input lag. A 32" inch TV however you would probably get around 10-30ms which is perfect for gaming.

I have a 46 inch Samsung SS03 which my dad recently bought. When I play on my PS3 (Cod) my actions seem delayed (knifing is a split second behind etc etc.) I have no idea what to do, is there way to calibrate my tv or anything?

Answer
there is no way to calibrate the tv to a ps3 , if it's an hdtv and you are using hdmi cables then it's as good as it will be
it's the TVs response time and amount of HZ that determines how fast it can refresh pixels on games , if the issue happens when playing offline then get used to the delay or buy a better tv ( a 600hz plasma or led 600hz hdtv is great )
if it happens laying online then that's not a tv problem it's your internet connection n that is lagging , get faster internet service
after googling that tv model it has a lot of problems and although samsung makes good tv's that one is not very good

Answer
Display Technology make great difference in pictures quality.
Plasma available 40 inc and above big screen. Best in colour display / pure dark-black colour , smooth pictures with out motion blur . better contrast ration.
LCD display , there much be so call " motion blur " , our eye usually noticed such blur from sports movies/gaming . the biggest screen the more uncomfortable to our eye. 19-26 inc not really that bad for motion blur. LCD unable to display pure dark-black colour. none of any LCD TV reached Plasma pictures quality even high end high prices models.
LED ( LCD-LED back-light ) refine improvement from LCD.better colour display, contrast ratio, 120 HZ well cover motion blur. smooth pictures . very close to Plasma . usually our eye will not getting any difference between Plasma and LED TV.
Maker / Brand also make great difference !
Sony / Samsung / LG / Sharp / Panasonic / Toshiba always quality. reliable that other " off brand " buyer brand / local house brand.
BUDGET another important issue.
all TV come with standard entry level models / mid end and high end models.you paid for what you get.
For movies, quality TV is better that monitor. an hi end monitor with out tuner / speaker usually cost much more that hi end TV.
cable box TV given stable quality pictures. also provide HD 720P , you just paid for what you want.
old analog free view may cause interference due to weather.
Digital broadcast ( ATSC / DVB-T ) free view on air channel also stable , some channel are HD too.

How to Pick the best TV?

Dawn

OK I am looking to go buy a TV I want to get at least a 50" or more. So what do I need to look for? What gets the best picture quality. I have seen the 3D ones and really don't care to much about them just want to get something for my hubby to watch his action movies on. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Go read what the experts say. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD/LED tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While Samsung, Sony and Toshiba (the top other brand) does not (April issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio (the next top 4 brands) did not even get mentioned. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from LCD tvs and 95% of those are off brands. Panasonic also has the best customer service support center in the market today. Hope this will help you out.

I recently bought a Sharp Aquos 52 inch LED backlit LC52LE700UN. I returned it because the motion blurring was too much for me to enjoy video games on. I've since decided to use the money to buy a plasma. Could anyone reccommend something in the 1500-2000 range with a comparable picture without the blurring problem?
50+ inches would be preffered.

Answer
Panasonic is the best brand when it comes to Plasma. The G10 or 15 (2009) or the G20 oe 25 for 2010. It is a THX (higher standard quality for videos) certified tv 50". You can actually get an S model
65" for under $2,000 at Costco. They also offer you a 90 day return policy and one extra year of factory warranty. Best Buy with a Magnolia department will have the higher end Panasonic Plasma tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on Panasonic tvs. Hope this will help you out.

How much will plasma tvs go down for black Friday 2011?

Juan

I'm thinking from best buy. Preferably Panasonic. Definitely 1080p, 600 Hz, 42-45 inches. Smart capabilities would be nice but not needed.

Answer
No one really knows what the black friday sells will be but they usually dont mark down the best tvs for black friday and if they do the stores usually dont have enough to meet demand.

In response to the guy that doesnt know what he is talking about:

Plasma all the way-Only thing Plasma Starts at 42" and goes up
-better and deeper blacks
-wider off angle viewing
-awesome for fast motion-600Hz refresh rate while the top LCDs/LEDs are only 240Hz-Best for gaming and sports watching
with a LCD you will have to drop it to 60Hz for gaming to help eliminate the lag
-No burn in-on new plasmas-was a problem 5 years ago
-they do use more power than the LCDs-But really if you cant afford the possible 3-5 bucks a month in and increase in your power bill-You do not need to be buying a big tv to begin with.
-The short life people are talking about equals about 10-15 years of watching. really who wont buy a new tv in 10 freaking years???
-I have my 65" Hung about 4' from a 72" window and even with the blinds open i have no trouble seeing it or get any annoying reflections. But The ceiling light that is behind the couch will reflect off it at night.

Right now the top Plasmas are made by Panasonic(according to Cnet, consumer reports and a few home video mags). Right now 50" 1080p ( i own this one and the 65" version) at best buy USA around 899 for the 50" 720p is 599

LED tvs are just a LCD with a LED back light instead of Florissant tubes!!!!!!!!!!
LED tvs ARE JUST LCD with different backlighting they still suffer all the drawbacks of LCD but are just brighter

How to fix burn in in a led tv?

Hung

My sony 3d led tv's got a long line of burn in on the left side, I tried to clean it with led screen cleaning solution but no luck. Is there any way that I can fix this?, thanks

Answer
What you have is dead pixel and not burn in. I have never had any luck buying any Sony products at all. I purchase a 32" CRT tv in the 90's and that only lasted less than 3 years, then the first HDTV in the market a 34" HDTV from Sony. That also did not last more than 3 years. 2 DVD players when they first came out model 7000 and 7700 both at over $1,100 each and that also did not last over 3 years. They do not have a very good customer service support, they will just refer you to an authorized repair shop. If you read yahoo questions, you can read many problems from other customer with Sony product problems. My first Plasma tv from Pioneer purchased in 2002 is still running. Also have 4 other Panasonic Plasma tv and no problems. First generation blu ray disc player from Panasonic which is now over 4 years old and played over 300 blu ray disc movies without any problems. You may try calling or email Sony and see what they say. Hope this will help you out.

Why does my new Vizio remote cycle through channels continuously?

Vizio-dizz

I just bought a new Vizio TV from Walmart. The model number is M470VSE. It's a 47in LED 1080p Smart TV. It has a double-sided remote with a full qwerty keyboard on the bottom. Brought it home and set it up. Plugged in all of my devices. Put the batteries in the remote. Turned it on. And everything went fine up to that point. Until I hit Channel Up. And it cycled through every single channel it could find continuously, until it reached the highest channel, then started at the lowest channel and went up the list again. It did this cycle about 3 times before finally stopping on a random channel it chose. It has done this now on every single button that offers a directional input. Volume up goes to eardrum-blasting without skipping a beat. Volume down goes to mute and doesn't stop. Try to type in an individual channel, say 87, and it just sticks with 8888-888. 45? how about 4444-444. Go to a menu, and press up, and it cycles through it all.

I've replaced the batteries. Turned the TV on and off. And nothing is working. What is going on and what can I do? Please help!

Answer
Take it back to Walmart and change preferably for something mush better than a Vizio. Try LG or Samsung.

What size tv should I get for my bedroom?

led tv with wifi image

warning!

I have not bought a TV before, so this is new to me. I am looking for a good deal. Also, is there a certain time of year to get a better deal?

Answer
First decide on what you have in mind to spend. They come $200 and less and $2000 and more, and everything in between. Next decide within the realm of price, wall mount or stand mount and size for the room. Then decide on audio - through the TV, or an enhanced sound system. After you have an idea, you have Fry's in-store sales on the West Coast, and price against internet Tigerdirect, Newegg, Amazon, and try Nextag as a pricing comparison. Occassionally, Walmart and Best Buy do something special. Understand brand quality. Top brands are Samsung, Sony, LG. Then Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba. Then other covers the rest.
Plasma TVs are generally lower priced and heavier weight. LCD TFT-CCFL are fluorescent backlight LCD and generally have brighter but less uniform pictures and are mid-thickness, and LED-LCD is thinner and more uniform picture brightness. Plasmas are great day 1, and degrade faster. 720p is lower density pixels but cheaper. 1080p is higher density pixels. In LCD, refresh rate in milliseconds or Hertz determines the smoothness of flow of motion on the screen.
Know that all TVs have been shipped from China to US warehouses so the store location is not as important as you may think. But, standard delivery is doorstep - a large box outside your door, and bring in and/or setup is extra. Also, if you have Costco or BJs maybe, sometimes they have a deal. Check internet for reviews.
Time to buy, there are black friday after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday around then, and Xmas, and after Xmas, and generally new models are around April, so March is typically closeouts.
You also have extra features like internet capabilities for more money, and that would include Netflix direct reception among other features.
If not doing separate audio, beware of the watts per channel audio.
That's the general. Look at some at Best Buy if there is one near you, but don't buy the day you walk in no matter what.
Basic cheap set: http://www.frys.com/product/6802766
40 inch Coby brand $300
1920 x 1080 resolution is good, but Dynamic Contrast Ratio 6000:1 is awful. It means the picture will have a bit of a greyness to it. Refresh Rate 60Hz Response Time 8 ms means that in fast moving images you may sense a choppiness.
More typical is getting a really nice set that is not top of the line
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+46%22+Class+/+LED+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+HDTV/2355829.p?id=1218323423815&skuId=2355829
Toshiba 46SL417U was $819 at Best Buy, mostly sold out. $830 here in NY from a reliable seller (check bbb.org and resellerratings.com): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755009-REG/Toshiba_46SL417_46SL417U_46_LED_HDTV.html
Decent brand, 46" diagonal size, LED backlit, 1080p, built-in Wifi, 120Hz, 10 Watts per Channel Audio. It isn't a super-deluxe 3D, and is not a cheap set. You decide what you want to spend, and what features you want, and what size you want, and understand that everything is trade-offs at a price. New models coming out shortly, meaning this years models are starting to closeout.

How to listen to music through my receiver via tuner?

pete9929

I know this sounds rididculous but i just bought a home theater in a box Yamaha 5.1 home theater (YHT497BL). I have everything hooked up and its all working properly. What i mean by that is...the TV (Samsung LED w/apps and wifi) is working great with the receiver and speakers, i have PS3 hooked up and that is fine and even Netflix and Pandora sound great (through the apps on tv via HDMI2 on TV which is my ARC). The ONLY thing i cant get working is the radio on the reciever! I put the reciever on TUNER and go to a station i know has great reception and i get nothing. No sound, no static, no anything. I also DO have the attenna plugged in to the receiveer (which was provided by Yamaha). Anyone have ANY idea? I just figured with speakers and speaker wire and connecting that to a receiver with a stereo i should be able to just turn it on and listen or at least get static? Maybe Im missing a connection but to what???

Answer
You have two antenna connections. One for AM radio and one for FM.

You might need a bigger antenna than the one provided.

I'm looking to get a TV for college and I'm going for either a 26 or 32 inch. I know there are alot of new technologies in LED TVs and I was wondering if these technologies would give the LED an advantage over an LCD TV that is 1080p compared to the LEDs lower resolution of 720p.

Answer
any tv smaller than 42" you can't tell the difference between 720 and 1080. So get the LED because of the better technology behind it. (Low energy, deeper blacks, higher visual quality)

want the best possible deal on it. I haven't been paying attention to price
fluctuations, so I'm wondering- when is the best time to get the best sale
price? Around Xmas, right after xmas, or would they be cheaper at a totally different
time of year?

Answer
Defiuniely not before christmas when the prices are the highest.
In the new year and if there is a new model just out and you are happy with the tried and tested rather than the newest thing. check out the which reports. or try richer sounds in january. their 5 year warranties are the best. 10% of cost prIce, which is good, but if you dont claim you get the money back at the end.

What makes 3d led tv better than others like it?

Answer
There has been a lot of hype and confusion surrounding the introduction of "LED" Televisions. Even many marketing representatives and sales professionals that should know better are falsely explaining what an LED Television is to their prospective customers.

To set the record straight, it is important to note that the LED designation refers to the backlight system used in some newer LCD Televisions, not the chips that produce the image content.

LCD chips and pixels do not produce their own light. In order for an LCD television to produce a visible image the LCD's pixels have to be "backlit". For more specifics on the backlighting process needed for LCD Televisions,

LED TVs are still LCD TVs. It is just that these new sets use LED backlights rather than the fluorescent-type backlights used in most other LCD TVs.

In other words, LED TVs should actually be labeled LCD/LED TVs.

How LED Technology is Used In LCD TVs

The are currently two main ways that LED backlighting is applied in LCD flat panel televisions.

One type of LED backlighting is referred to as Edge Lighting. In this method, a series LED backlights are placed along the outside edges of the screen. The light is then dispersed across the screen. The advantage of this method is that the LED/LCD TV can be made very thin. On the other hand, the disadvantage of Edge lighting is that black levels are not as deep and the edge area of the screen has a tendency to be brighter than the center area of the screen.

The other type of LED backlighting is referred to as Full-Array. In this method, several rows of LEDs are placed behind the entire surface of the screen. The advantage is that these sets can employ "local dimming". Local dimming means that each LED or a specific group of LEDs can be turned on and off independently within certain areas of the screen, thus providing more control of the brightness and darkness for each those areas, depending on the source material being displayed. On the other hand, LCD TVs that employ full array backlighting are thicker than LCD TVs that employ an Edge-lit LED light source.

If you are considering the purchase of an LED/LCD Television, find out which brands and models are currently using the Edge or Full Array method and take of a look at each type when you go shopping to see which type of LED backlighting looks best to you.

What is the difference between edgelit led, backlit led and edgelit backlit led and Vizio TruLED TV?

Deacon Blu

LG, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, & Vizio are the only ones that I know of that make some kind of LED TV but they all use a different term when they mention the LED lighting.
Which is better?

Answer
Generally...the most expensive ones are the best!

Those are usually the backlit LED TVs(a.k.a. local dimming). They have the highest contrast ratios and best picture qualities! Edge lit LEDs have problems with back light uniformity and have lower contrast ratios!

Vizio's "TruLED" TVs are just their marketing words for backlit LED TVs! Their "RazorLED" TVs are their version of the Edge-lit LED TVs!

Basically...if the LED TV is super thin...it's an Edge-lit! If it's super expensive and not so thin...it's a back lit!

I'm in the market for a 60 to 70 inch LCD or plasma. which do you recommend?

led tv 70 inch samsung image

wolverin02

I'm willing to spend a bit (3-4k) but I want the best picture quality for the price. Its going in a well lit room with lots of windows so I prefer a brighter one.

Answer
I will tell you that if you plan on putting it in a bright room I wouldn't recommend a Plasma. Whether the TV is a 32" or a 65" it still has 2 million pixels. All that you have done is stretch the pixels...on a plasma this would not be a problem because of the refresh rate (600Hz or 0.001ms) which is a 1000 x's faster then the fastest LCD which has a refresh rate of 240Hz or 3ms.

When you have pixels that big the LCD cannot refresh fast enough for you not to see pixelation during fast-action movies or sports. Plasma however being so fast you cant really notice any pixelation(bubbles around fast movement).

Being that you are going to be putting this in a bright room I dont recommend plasma because of the glass. You are safe with a 55" LED LCD with a 240Hz refresh rate. One that I might recommend is the UN55B8000 or UN55B8500 which are Samsung's Top Model LED LCD's.

LED LCD have almost as good of colors as a plasma, so your not losing much(if any)contrast by going with the LED LCD.

Best of luck to you on your purchase!

In terms of quality, which is the best 50" samsung 1080p plasma I can buy for â¬1700?

Doesn't necessarily have to be samsung, nor Plasma. But preferably so.

Answer
If your spending that amount of money why not go the whole hog and go for the samsung Hd ready 1080p digital LED tv it costs £1599.99 approx it uses 100mghz technology 70% thinner than conventional lcd tvs its 29.9mm deep and the contrast ratios are 10 times greater than conventional lcd tvs I`m sure they are available where you are inthe uk they are available at currys for that price the only drawback is the price quoted is for a 40 inch set not 50 inch

I'm building a home theater with surround sound and whatnot, I just need the main part now. I can't decide whether to buy a HD projector or TV. I've heard that the display qualities of the projectors are lower than that of TV's in general, but others say that it's just because the screen is so large. I want to be able to mount the screen in front of a TV so I can watch the news without feeling like I need to get popcorn, so is there a way to mount it from a stand or something? I've also heard that the bulbs need replacing every few years for like 400 bucks...

The main question though, is quality. Compared to, say, and LED set, does a projector's color and 1080p look as good? Or better?

And which company/price range/model should I stick to?
Thanks @Alex, I have the couch about 15 feet away, and there is a window in the room but I'm probably going to be watching movies at night anyways. I'm mounting the screen in front of the TV so I can retract it when I want to watch other things, thanks a lot!

Answer
The answer does depend on factors like the layout of your room.

Will you be viewing from over 12 feet away?
Can you keep out all external light even during daylight hours?
If the answer to both of these is yes, then a projector may be right for you.

I want the best picture quality I can afford.
I can put furnature wherever gives me the best viewing position.
The answer is probably a TV.

To get a cinematic experience from a TV, you need a very big TV and to sit very close to it.
I've got a 60" plasma and a viewing distance of about 8 feet.
If I view it from 18 feet, you can't tell the difference between HD and SD.
From 8 foot, SD looks rubbish. 1080p looks fantastic though.
From 12 feet both SD and HD are watchable, but it's not as cinematic.

I've painted the wall behind the TV black, so when the lights are out there's no light wash from the wall behind, the picture just floats.

Some projectors are very poor, even the HD ones. You get what you pay for. By the time the bulb goes once or twice you'll probably be considering buying your next upgrade anyway, so don't worry too much about that, just factor it in to the purchase cost decision.

Some 50 inch TVs are very good for a sensible price, but make sure to do your research because there are still a few howlers out there, not all of them the cheapest ones.

What is the difference between brands of hd tvs that have the same specs but different prices?

also what is the difference and what is better plasma, led, lcd? Will the tv come with everything i need to get broadcast hd? What is 720 vs 1080?

Answer
A few things to check to select a set (other than the size that will work for your room layout):

Check the colors. Some sets have more brilliant colors than others.
Walk to the side of the set. Some sets have a very narrow "angle of view". Others can be seen clearly until you're so far to the side that you can't see the screen.
Check the features. Do you want to be able to connect your computer to the TV, to use it as a giant monitor? Do you want to be able to use your stereo to get better sound? Do you want a built-in DVD player. (Generally a bad idea unless the player is consumer-replaceable.)
Check prices for the same model from a few places. Buying locally costs sales tax. Buying on-line may cost shipping. Look at clubs. Even with the membership fee, BJs, Sams or Costco may be cheaper.

720 is lower definition than 1080. In a smaller set you'll never see the difference. In a larger set (40" or more) you may notice the difference - most people don't.

The TV will come with everything but an antenna and the cable to connect the antenna to the TV.

Im willing to spent $4,000.00 for the best tv picture I can get , do anyone know any brand names I can buy?

Answer
Samsung Series 9 (LED LCD). That is the best you're going to get in LCD. And it is likely going to cost you in that kind of a price range. You would get better picture bang-for-buck if you went plasma. But if you're truly set on LCD, then that's the cream of the crop right now, hands down.

So something like the Samsung LN55A950 would be what you want to consider. Its 55" but i would imagine that would still be in the ballpark for you. Its definitely a top notch set.

You could also look at the Sony XBR8 series. They would also be a very respectable choice. Followed by the Sharp Aquos 52XS1U-S.

====

I second the other comment about the Samsung LN52A650. I think you'll get better picture quality bang-for-buck with that one. The 9 series is the flagship line for Samsung, but is right now tacking on a serious price premium. The 6 series has amazing picture quality at much more affordable prices.

Which TV provides better contrast Samsung A950 LED LCD TV or Sony's XBR8 LED LCD TV?

Jared

I just recently purchased a Samsung LN55A950 and was comparing it for months to the XBR8 55 inch LED LCD TV as well as the new edgelit LED LCD TV's Samsung has released. I love the A950's colors but I was just wondering what anyone else with one of these Televisions thought was more bang for your buck. Thanks!

Answer
Both come with almost same features.Same 1,000,000:1 dynamoc contrast ratio.Personally I prefer Samsung and I think it the best bang for your buck.Samsung LN55A950 have an excellent picture quality and cheaper than Sony for around $1500

or try consider new LED from Samsung UN55B7000 - 55" LCD TV.It come with thinner set 1.2",higher contrast ratio 3,000,000:1 and less power consumption.A bit more expensive than LN55A950.

Answer
The board of directors, which is made of CEOs/CFOs from other publicly traded, richer than god, companies. They vote in this crap for each other.

Figure this out people, every thing we do in this world, every thing we buy (not small, local made/raised), every dime we "invest" in banks and stocks, goes to make these selected dozens, trillions.

Since the 70s, these people, with the blessings of the politicians which they paid off, have effectively enslaved us to the corporations.

Meanwhile, they started quietly off shoring our jobs and flooding our country with legal immigrants to drive down our wages, while successively raising the percentage of salaries and perks, they and their buddies make.

Meanwhile, we buy their dead (processed food), grown with genetically modified seeds (dead), then buy the pills that the doctors push on us.

We never solve our problems, and have been led to believe that having things is somehow successful and will make us happy. Which it doesn't so we go back to the doctors, cause the commercials tell us the miracle pill can save us.

And all down the line, from the tv stations, to the politicians, to Yahoo, to Kraft, to Merck, they are all getting richer--taking the highest percentage of corporate profits ever, while taking away our jobs and our benefits.

Yet, we keep going back to the trough, we keep feeding the beast.

With every stupid thing, we really don't need, with every pill we pop-even when they don't fix anything and cause us to take a 2nd pill to deal with side effects, to every dime we have on our credit cards and mortgages.

We are just the unimportant cogs in their wheel of continuous thievery.

I'm really opting opt of it. I'm paying my debts, I'm downsizing, I'm living with less. I'm fixing my health naturally, I'm buying more staples and re-learning to be "poor" again.

These idiots thought we were unimportant, they slashed our ranks, brought in lower paid foreigners, moved plants to India or China and basically said to millions of Americans, "you are so replaceable".

Well, the joke is on them, they may now own 20-25% of the salaries in the US, but they don't hold 20-25% of the buying power.

They effectively off shored their best customers. And funny, the replacement workers can't afford their crap either.

Please fellow Americans, I beg you. Quit consuming, get healthy, get out of debt & learn to make do. Due to these corrupt politicians and greedy executives, our future has been sold to the lowest bidder (China).

And as long as you continue with your present lifestyles, the bigger and more powerful these people will be.

Vote the bums out in '08. Every last one

Lets at least give the people a chance against the trillions of dollars the corporations rain on Congress. Please.

Answer
He pass bills and policies to help the bank industry from failing. Without these policies, the bank failed (because the residential mortgage crisis , soon the commercial will failed next) and cause the economy to fall into depression. These policies cause the U.S. to fall further into debt. Now the US is current owed 14 Trillion dollar ($14,000,000,000,000). Soon there will be more expenses to pay out, like medicare, US baby boomer is getting old, US at war with Libya, soon maybe Iran... What these does is it cost US to go further into debt. US have too many people in the military and government job, if you reduce them, people might go into social service program. If the government keep borrowing to pay for these expense, the interest itself already too large to pay it off.

It's not Obama fault because ex-president had led the US into these mess.

US dollar are losing it value and US economy is a "consumer" economy.

Hopefully, in 2012 the US can vote for a president who will put tougher policy to stop the war over sea, stop help big business, like the bank by buying up their worthless stock with future generation money and promise.

Do you research about Bailout or US economy on Youtube. Don't watch Fox, CNN, CNBC or any mainstream media because they own by big corporation who tend to sponsor politician by donating to the party they want to be elect.

Do you notice most stuff you watch on TV are kind of distract the younger generation from the real issue. Show like Jersey Shore, the Kardasian, American Idol....

Answer
Depends on what type of TV

HD LCD usually only come with 720p and are the TVS that are in the middle of Definition.
I would recommend these types of TVS

The TV that you are looking for 32" at 1080p only come in a size 40" or up usually for 1080p or 1080i

Plasma's which are the cheapest in HD TVS types have 1080p but plasma screen's are usually never 32" they are usually 42" and up.

HD LED are the most expensive ranging from 1,200 to 3,600 for a 52" and Up However LED TVS are the ones that come in all shapes and sizes the smaller the screen the cheaper

In any case which ever TV you choose to buy you can buy it at any of my recommended stores:

Best Buy *****
Sears ****
Target ****
Wall mart ***
Kmart ***
Famsa **

Hope I helped.
