I would like to get a large monitor for my vision considerations. What are the major differences between two similar sized TVs and Monitors?

Answer
Computer Monitors
1.) Only go up to 32''
2.) Higher Image Quality. Better at display fine text
3.) Less inputs
4.) Cheaper
5.) Are only available with a refresh rate of up to 120hz
6.) Only higher end or more expensive models can be effectively mounted

LCD/LED
1.) Can go up 80''+
2.) Dollar for dollar image quality of a LCD TV won't match a computer monitor.
(partially with help of the video card)
3.) Far more inputs. Can plug your blu-ray player and all your other devices.
4.) More expensive
5.) Are available with a refresh rate of up to 240hz
6.) Better suited to mount on walls

How does the color black make LED TVs better?

Sean

Everyone makes a big deal about the black levels in LED TV's, but how does it make the picture any better?

Answer
On regular fluorescent backlit LCD TVs more light leaks through the liquid crystal pixels for the parts that are supposed to be "black" so it may look like a washed out gray instead of black. LED TVs are not as bad, but plasma and CRT are the only ones that can do real black. As an extreme example, turn the Brightness (not the Contrast) all the way up on your TV or computer monitor.... the picture won't look as good, now will it?

my sony dvd player is hooked up to my samsung tv. why do my dvds play in blue color?

Sally

I tried to watch a dvd in my sony dvd player (about 5+ yrs old) that is hooked up to my samsung smart LED TV. The movie was all in blue color. I switched the cables and that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Answer
Your old dvd player more than likely has a component video output (Red, Green and Blue color rca jacks) and an optical audio output. If you are only using one cable for the color instead of 3 then you are not going to see the picture in true colors, just the blue. Look and see what it provides for a video output, one Yellow color rca jack might be provide. Hope this will help you out.

I am looking for a LED TV of at least 47" that is 1080p for less than $1500. It must be at least 120hz refresh rate and does NOT need to have 3d...3d would be a plus though. What is the best TV that you know of with the shortest lag?

Answer
Either Sony or Sharp have the lowest input lag. LG and Samsung and pretty poor for gaming even on game mode.

How do i make my Samsung LED TV look like a soap opera?

Damar

I have a Samsung LED TV. I've heard of this thing called the "soap opera" effect and I'm curious to see what that looks like. I've heard people say when they first bought a Samsung TV that everything looked like a soap opera and I'm just curious to see how that works.

TV Specs:
Samsung LED
120 Hz (or 120 refresh rate)

So anyone know what settings I can change to see what this "soap opera" effect looks like?

Answer
Go into your Picture Settings menu and find the setting for 'Auto Motion Plus" and turn it on and all the way up.

This is the setting that smooths out the picture and creates the SOE.

I have this Compaq Destktop Pc and I would like to connect it to my Samsung Led TV. My TV only supports an HDMI connection & My PC only supports a VGA connection, but that is not the real problem. I got a VGA to DVI Addapter & a DVI to HDMI Addapter and an HDMI Cable, so was recommended on my local RadioShack store. So I guess for connection I am settled, but the problem is that my TV does identify a connection made but no picture appears when I switch to HDMI input. What am I missing? & What could I possible do? I need a solution since I've beeb trying this for some time & I have run out of time to return some of the stuff in case It doesnt work out & this is a very pricey thing to do.

Answer
Your problem is the VGA to DVI adapter. A passive adapter only changes pin arrangements, not signal types. Most (nearly all) VGA signals are analog, while DVI and HDMI are digital. They are not compatible. So you are not set for connections (Radio Shack either didn't know this or just wanted to sell you gear - either way it's inexcusable). What you need is an active converter - they have their own power supply and electronics to convert analog to digital, like this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VJ9RCO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0015YWV1G&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0NXQ0KRH8QADFDRNRB9N

Note that it has accommodated audio also, which VGA (Video Graphics Array) does not. This is just one example - there are many others - search [vga to hdmi converter] to find them.
Note, too, that this skips the DVI step altogether - you don't need it. However, do be aware that you are starting with a PC's digital signal, converting to VGA analog, then converting back to digital with a 3rd-party, relatively cheap A->D converter, which will probably degrade image quality a bit.
Are you positive the TV only has HDMI? Most have a VGA (sometimes labeled RGB or PC In) and a 3.5mm jack to go with it for audio. This would be higher quality (and cheaper) if you can locate it. I can't imagine a Samsung digital TV with no PC input. Check again (or provide a model number so we can check online). Hope this helps... Good luck!

How to connect my laptop to my tv and home theater?

Perry

I want to connect my laptop to my LG LED TV and my LG Blueray Home Theater System, I can get the laptop hooked up to my TV but haven't been able to get the audio to got through the Home Theater System.
I have a HDMI cable from my laptop to my tv, and the audio/video works fine...I have yet been able to get sound to go from either into the home theater system.

Answer
The most effective way to do this is by having HDMI output on your graphics cards. If it has HDMI, it will export audio and video, and you can just plug it into your tv. Since your TV is plugged into your sound system, you'll get the picture on the tv and the audio from your sound system.

If, like me, you don't have HDMI ports, here's what I did:

My PC has two 'out' ports, one VGA, and one DVI - as both my monitor and tv have VGA connectors, I got a DVI>VGA adaptor, so that my tv and monitor are hooked up simultaneously. Your laptop probably just has a VGA (and is connected to its own screen entirely) so for that all you need is a VGA cable.

However that's only video, you still need the audio.

What I do for this, is essentially just have a cable going from the speaker (or headphone) port on my computer to the audio-in on my soundsystem. However, because I like to switch between PC, Cable and Xbox on my TV without swapping cables...

I bought an AV switcher. It has 3 AV inputs, and one output, with a little slider to select which one its using. I only use it for the audio, as everything is connected to the TV already anyway (HDMI for Cable, VGA for PC, Component for Xbox).

I have a 'audio jack to stereo' cable going from the TV to the switch. Another of the same cables going from my PC speaker socket to the switch. And just plugged the audio jacks of the Xbox component cable straight into the switch. The output for the switch goes into my soundsystem. And I can select either of the 3 channels for whichever audio I want.

Also, I have a simple jack splitter coming out my pc's sound card, as my pc is in another room, so I can get audio on both sets of speakers, or simply one at a time.

With this setup, I just need to change channel on the tv, and change the audio switch as desired, whereas with HDMI you'd be able to just change the channel and get audio AND video.

I think however I might keep my current setup though, as the benefit of keeping audio and video separate is that I can have say, music playing from the Xbox while I'm browsing the web on the PC. Or have music playing from the PC while I watch TV. If it were all HDMI you'd essentially be stuck with the audio of whatever is on your screen.

Hope this helped!

email me jpjosey@gmail.com if you need any help figuring out what leads to buy or setting up, for all the additional leads I bought, and the switch, it was still cheaper than buying a graphics hard with HDMI out, and although it uses more wires than HDMI, its a more customisable solution in my opinion.

What exactly is UFC ?

The Great

I am an Indian & a WWE fan. We can also watch TNA in India but the telecast is very very delayed. Ever since i have joined yahoo answers, i have been noticing comments from Magic Marker, a user with a profile photo of ROONEY & some others about something caleed UFC. But i don't know anything about it.
What exactly is UFC?
Is it related to professional wrestling?
How is it as compared to WWE?
UFC fans don't mind. I am not saying anything against it. I just want to know, what it is?
ENJOY!!!

Answer
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, currently recognized as the major MMA promotion in North America. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and is owned and operated by Zuffa, LLC.

The UFC was started as a tournament to find the world's best fighters irrespective of their style, and was based upon Brazilian vale tudo fighting. Although there was a limited number of rules, the UFC was initially known as no holds barred fighting and contests were often violent and brutal. Early UFC fights were less sport than spectacle, which led to accusations of brutality and "human cockfighting" by opponents. Political pressures eventually led the UFC into the underground, as pay-per-view providers nixed UFC programming, nearly extinguishing the UFC's public visibility.

As political pressure mounted, the UFC reformed itself, slowly embracing stricter rules, becoming sanctioned by athletic commissions, and marketing itself as a legitimate sporting event. Dropping the no holds barred label and carrying the banner of mixed martial arts, the UFC has emerged from its political isolation to become more socially acceptable, regaining its position in pay-per-view television. With a cable television deal and legalization of MMA in California, a hotbed for MMA fandom, the UFC is currently undergoing a remarkable surge in popularity, along with heightened media coverage. UFC programming can now be seen on Spike TV in the United States, as well as in 35 other countries worldwide without a satellite dish and all countries worldwide with a satellite dish.

compared to the wwe its not that good. most wwe/tna fans hate ufc. there are no storylines and the people basically try to kill each other.

dont generalize that! there are all sorts of people in any country.. take america for instance - its composed of native americans with traditional rituals, urban dwellers who live by the constitution and people in rural areas who follow their own rules and regulations. that same scenario is also valid in Pakistan. Although the constitution holds true all across the country, the tribal areas also have the autonomy to implement their own traditional rules. among its pros are some cons too - and this is one of them. But this is NOT the situation of the entire country. This is ture to a large extent in tribal areas.

Answer
At first ISLAM:

If ISLAM is not TRUE (may Allah forgive me) THEN âWhy Non-Muslims "ALWAYS" lose debate to "SHEIKH AHMED DEEDAT & DR.ZAKIR NAIK" in front of so many live audiences? And this tape is recorded for the TV. U can purchase their CDS as well, to know & propagate the truth (ISLAM).â

Those debates were not about individual but about the whole religion, they were not debating on any individuals but religious scriptures, basic religious believes, religious canons etc

Secondly about Pakistan:

âBy INVADING Pakistan in order to kill 1 Osama Bin Laden, this fool OBAMA will create 100000 Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan and all around the Muslim worldâ.
First USA should give Pakistan the proper and latest equipment to seal its border with Afghanistan then criticize Pakistan, I wonder how Americans can only blame Pakistan for Taliban attacks? Since all 35 NATO nations are in Afghanistan with their latest equipments USA itself is there with the number one technology in the whole world, Afghanistan should care about its borders but yet the whole world and specially USA blame only only only PAKISTAN.
We all know that USA can't secure its easy border with Mexico with its world number one technology but they expect Pakistan to secure its Mountainous border with Afghanistan, i just wonder on the hypocrisy of Americans.
Securing Pakistan Afghanistan border is a joint joint joint responsibility of all NATO and specially AMERICA & Afghanistan & then PAKISTAN.
And Pakistan has lost more troops & civilians than USA or any other country for this so called war on terror.
USA and WEST first look at their deeds then point out their fingers on Pakistan, USA must must must give Pakistan the latest spying equipments otherwise they should not expect something from Pakistan which is not possible even from them. E.g. of it: USA not even gave Pakistan Firefighting equipments just searched what happened at MARRIOTT hotel in Islamabad due to fire from suicidal attack.

AND LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ONNNNNNNNN, All USA is doing providing ARMS & having nuclear deals to Pakistanâs number ONE enemy India and despite of that asking Pakistan to do all for them. WOW what a friend USA is of Pakistan.
& REMEMMBER THAT âPAKISTAN IS NOT AN COUNTRY SO USA OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY MAKE THEIR MOVE AND GET AWAY WITH ITâ.

USA only like those democracy which supports its goals and objectives, they don't like truly elected democracy. Most current examples are Hamas (elected by people but rejected by USA), Iran's president (elected by people but rejected by USA).

USA supported the dictatorship of Musharraf and they still not saying to him to leave the president house, now tell me whatâs that?

All USA has is just "double standards".

***What USA has done for Pakistan, in order to stop this, they must help Pakistan this is their duty, b/c if Pakistan leave USA in supporting in their so called fight against terrorism all suicidal attacks will start occurring in USA.?***

USA accused of infiltration from Pakistan to Afghanistan, but when Pakistan said that it will âmineâ the Afghan-Pakistani border they said âNOâ, when Pakistan said that it will âFenceâ â the Afghan-Pakistani border they said âNOâ, & now they accuse Pakistan.

i have to buy a tv in india of such type whose picture quality is excellent and it should be 55 or 51 inch..
and it should have many functions also..

Answer
Plasmas are perhaps the best TV in the market right now. Anybody who knows about TVs like videphiles or experts in the field swear by plasma including me. So why choose plasma? They usually have the best color temperature (@ about 6500K), best blacks in the market, best contrast, shadow detail, biggest viewing angle, fastest refresh rate (600Hz) and because this technology is the oldest prices are not as high as LCDs and "LED TVs". Now "LEDs" are also very good, perhaps in a bright room where you have a lot of ambient light or if you're concerned with your electric bill. "LEDs" also don't get as hot for obvious reasons, many of them don't reflect ambient light and their slim profiles are very attractive. So it really comes down to your needs, if you can control your ambient light, then plasmas are your best bet. But if it's hard for you to control light or you simply have too many windows around your TV then perhaps an LCD or even better an "LED TV" will do best, good luck.

I have an older 65 inch Hitaci TV (65F59) . The picture has been getting darker over the years with the bright up now to 100%. I assume it's due to dust on the 3 projecter lights inside. I plan to one day take TV apart then clean the dust, dirt, etc.

Does anyone know what to use, how to do it or a link to a website who specializes in big TV's

Thanks

Answer
How old is it?

Rear projection TVs also lose color. I had a 40' rear projection Mitsubishi for 25 years, picture was getting darker and the green beam was fading. $50 for house call, he boosted the green beam and told me that you are better off buying a new LCD, LED or Plasma than spending any more - average life of rear projection is 10-12 years.

Phone an authorized Hitachi TV repair place and talk to a tech. These people have probably dealt with problems like this a lot of times and they could give you what the problem is. Dimming picture likely means dimming lights. They can also let you know about $$$$$ for changing the 3 beams.

It will likely be cheaper to buy a new LCD TV. The new TVs are much easier on the eyes with super sharp print and vibrant colors.

When I purchaaed my 42" LG HD TV I had only wished I bought it much sooner (except I was waiting for prices to come down)

I recently bought a Sharp Aquos 52 inch LED backlit LC52LE700UN. I returned it because the motion blurring was too much for me to enjoy video games on. I've since decided to use the money to buy a plasma. Could anyone reccommend something in the 1500-2000 range with a comparable picture without the blurring problem?
50+ inches would be preffered.

Answer
Panasonic is the best brand when it comes to Plasma. The G10 or 15 (2009) or the G20 oe 25 for 2010. It is a THX (higher standard quality for videos) certified tv 50". You can actually get an S model
65" for under $2,000 at Costco. They also offer you a 90 day return policy and one extra year of factory warranty. Best Buy with a Magnolia department will have the higher end Panasonic Plasma tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on Panasonic tvs. Hope this will help you out.

Answer
There are many technologies emerging in display devices like TVs. Every technology excels in particular feature of display and has particular method of display. Different technologies used in TVs are:

LCD TV:
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions are thinner and lighter and provide much sharper and clearer picture than CRTs of similar size. They are ideally used for cell phone displays, computer monitors, and to view still images.
· LCD TVs have a flat screen so there will be no picture distortion and don't have screen "burn in" like curved tube TVs.
· In general, LCD viewing angle is 175 degrees. The picture can be viewed 87 degrees from each side.
· LCD TVs are very economical to use and screens less than 35 are fairly inexpensive.
· LCD TVs are backlit and blocks outside light. So, they are suitable for natural lighting situations.
· Most LCD TVs have a half lifespan (50% of original brightness) of over 30,000 hours (16 years of viewing at 6 hours per day).
LCD sizes generally range from 13 to 65 but some manufacturer will offer up to 100 sizes.

Plasma TV:
A Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is a flat panel display used in large TV displays. They have better and accurate color generation than LCDs, and with far display, wider viewing angles, and do not experience degradation at high angles compared to LCD. Plasma displays are ideal for viewing motion video in large displays.

· Plasma screen sizes generally ranges from 32 to 84 but some offer screen sizes up to 100.
· Plasma pixel, technology provides a brighter picture with more contrast between the blacks and whites than standard TV.
· In general, plasma TVs viewing angle is 160 to 180 degrees and picture can be viewed from any angle.
· On an average, Plasma TVs have a half lifespan (50% of brightness) of 50,000 to 70,000 hours (20 years of viewing 6 hours a day to 50,000 hours).
Some plasma TVs are provided with upgradeable video cards that helps to match with future technology.

HDTV:
HDTV or High-Definition Television is a digital television broadcasting system offering a higher resolution compared to regular television systems. HDTV is digitally broadcast unlike earlier analog broadcasting, because digital television (DTV) signals require reduced bandwidth because of digital video compression.

HDTV will not have standard TV problems, like low quality sharpness, troubles with brightness or contrast, spots, other visual, or audio imperfections, problems like double images (ghosting), and weak signals. HD television provides clearer pictures with excellent sound quality, a wider viewing screen and up-to-date scanning. HDTV will provide more and superior channels provided by regular satellite or cable television with theater system experience.

LED TV:
LED (Light Emitting Diode) TV is an LCD TV that uses LEDs for back lighting, instead of using the fluorescent lights (as it creates more black spots). They are ideally used for low-energy indicators, as substitutes for traditional light sources in general lighting and automotive lighting.
· LED TV currently costs more than a standard LCD or plasma TV.
· LED TV has got great looks and very easy to Install.
· Edge-lit LED television will consume 30-40% of less power than LCD or plasma TV. But backlit LEDs will consume more power.
· Brighter picture can be viewed with LED television compared to a standard LCD TV.
· LED TV that is backlit, with local dimming and RGB LEDs, will have an enhanced picture and better contrast ratio and colour accuracy compared to standard LCD TV.
It has a long lasting life and also eco friendly.

OLED TVs:
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs depend on light emitting polymer technology. Its features including,
· In OLED TVs, there is no need for backlights or extra heaters or coolers, so there is less power consumption.
· As OLED materials has the capacity to support full spectrum of visible light, so there will be higher contrast and it has high-speed refresh rates.
· OLEDs are much faster than LCDs. Fast motion and quick eye movement pictures are more realistic. And OLED TVs will make virtual images to look realistic and can be viewed easily for longer periods.
· It has larger viewing angle and for near-eye applications, it provides more pleasant viewing without distortion.
One disadvantage with OLED TVs is the limited lifespan of the organic materials used in its manufacturing. In addition, blue light degrades quickly with a lifespan of 14,000 hours (when used 8 hours per day for five years) on flat-panel displays.

Before purchasing a television, know the difference between each technology and purchase the one, which has your desired features and suits your budget.

Have You Ever Been In Contact With A Ghost?

Q. Me and a close friend of mine have an interest in the paranormal. There's an old cemetary (dates back to the early 1700's) that we sometimes hang out in at night.
We've had a few experiences that I can't really explain while we were there.
One time we hung out in there for about 45 minutes at around midnight just taking sound recordings and walking around the area. My friend walked over to an area and said "wow, it's REALLY cold over here, Saige." About a second later we heard "Saige!" in a little girls voice. It sounded very happy.
I turned to ask him if he heard anything when he said "Uh, did you hear that?"
Another time we were there with anothe friend of ours at around 11:00 at night. There was a dark shadow in the shape of a human near one of the graves. It was just a bit darker than the night and walked off into the other graves when we took a few steps towards it.

Do you have any stories of encounters?
Maybe I should add that when the voice said "Saige" I turned to ask my friend if he heard it to and before I got a chance to he said "did you hear something say Saige?"

Answer
I have had many encounters in my life time. The first one was my Dad's mother. She died when he was only 7 years old. I was going through a bitter divorce when my boys were 2 and 4 years old. It was in the summer, I was laying on the couch watching tv and fell asleep. I woke up to the sound of static on the tv, the station went off the air for the night. All of a sudden there was this damp cold chill. In the doorway of my babies room was this figure of a woman, long white dress, dark hair in an up sweep. I couldn't see her face tho. All she said a few times was "it will be alright". Then, she was gone as fast as she came. When she left, the cold chill left too. When I told my dad what happened that night, he knew it was his mother. She had 9 kids and would say to them when things went wrong, it will be alright. The second encounter was right after my mother died. I had encounters with her. Fist one I thought I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder and heard my name being called. I turned around and no one was there. The second encounter was when my dad was leaving with a woman he just met. My mom had been gone for 2 years and he met another woman. As they were leaving that night, I had a cover to a frying pan on the counter. It started going back and forth, faster and faster. All I could say was "okay mom, stop it now, he's happy, that's all that matters so stop it. Justl like that, it stopped. Every once in a while I get a feeling as if someone is leaning or sitting on the edge of my bed. I lay on my right side and the feeling is always behind me. At first I thought I was one cf my cats as they both like to lay on my bed with me. When I turned around to see if it was them there was no one there. I came to the conclusion that it's my mom checking in with me. Now, I just pat the spot where I felt that and say everything is fine mom. I had a few encounters with my husband who passed away 9 years ago. From things being moved around the house, to shadows in the hallway that went through my son's bedroom door to an image of a man walking up the road while I was at my husband's grave. I had taken a picture of my son and his girlfriend at New Years Eve, almost a year after my husband died. On the wall is a what I thought was spot of light from the flash. The longer I looked at that picture, the more I saw an image of a man's face. I did send that pic to a few online paranormal places and was told that there is an image in that picture. There were even times when I would hear crying or whimpering coming from my bedroom after my husband died. I was told by a few paranormal web sites that it was my husband crying. Somthing he did a lot of when he was alive as he was such a sensative person. I lived in a house that was built in 1764 and would see a shadowy figure come out of the bathroom, on the second floor heading into my son's room. I would be walking up the stairs and got about half way and would see a shadow of a man. This was almost every day. I asked the lady who lived next door, as the house was converted into a duplex. She said it was the original owner of the house and that he wouldn't hurt anyone. I was painting the kitchen one night and saw a man peak around the corner at me. He was in the livingroom looking threw the doorway that led into the kitchen. It looked just like the shadowy figure that I would see upstairs. I went into the livingroom to look and no one was there. I moved out of there and live down the street now from that house. Every time I go bye, I think of Eli and his visits that he paid to me. With each encounter, there was always a very damp, cold chill in the air. As soon as the apparition was gone, so was the cold chill. Many of you may think I'm a raving nut case, I'm sure. I have had other people with me when I had some of these encounters. I hope my stories helped you more in your questions. Happy ghost hunting!

planning a lcd or led tv purchase but need help the TV would be facing a window that the sun hits almost all day until sundown but is covered by blinds and have a budget of $220.00 maximum for the purchase

Answer
Look - a "LED" television is really a LCD panel with LED's for back-lights. They turn the LED's down or off behind dark sections of the screen to improve the black levels. This increases the over-all picture quality.

But your budget - is way t0o low. I waited and waited and eventually got a 46" television used off of Craigslist for $250.

You are not going to get anything decent new except perhaps bottom barrel brands for $220.

So hit your local Craigslist and this might get you something that will last if you stick with the major brands.

What make/model LED TV should I purchase to run a looping picture slideshow from a USB flash drive?

SH1414

My company is looking to install 2 LED tvs in order to run a looping picture slideshow in our office. We want to save the appropriate .jpeg pictures to the flash drive each day, plug the drive into the tv USB port and let it run on a loop all day without much (any) manual effort.

Answer
My dentist's and doctor's office have the type system (looping) you are talking about. Go to a store that sells TV's, take a flash drive w/ a looping program on it, and try it out. That way you'll know what works well, what doesn't, and you won't have any surprises.

Could you replace a computer screen with a tv completely?

led tv hertz rating

led tv hertz rating image

jackie

Computer screens don't come in as big size as tvs do besides tv screens are usually cheaper.
What is the difference between an led tv and an led computer screen, any pros and cons with replacing a computer screen with a tv screen?. I think I remember something about the hertz rate using another scale, so even though it says 600 hertz on the tv it really means like 200 if you compare it to a computer screen... I might be completely off though....

Answer
Haha absolutely! It's becoming more and more common to replace computer monitors with televisions.

What you need to determine is what you will be using this for. Computer monitors GENERALLY (not always) have a lower response time. This means that if you plan on playing video games, you may want to tend towards a computer LED monitor. However, the obvious advantages to a TV over monitor are significant.

If you plan on watching a lot of movies, (especially if you're planning on purchasing an HDTV) I highly suggest the TV. Monitors (per square inch) are much more expensive (again, generally) than TVs.

Again, it depends on all sorts of things; TV's are great if you have a lot of space in your room and watch a lot of movies. Computer monitors are generally for gaming or Application usage (like Photoshop or music notation software).

As for the 600Hz, that is a common refresh frequency for Plasma televisions. Anything higher than 120Hz is "3DTV compatible"; my computer monitors are all 120Hz. It makes for smoother pictures.

If you plan on buying a TV, use Plasma televisions in low-light places (like basements or dens with little outdoor light), buy an LED-TV or LCD-TV for high-light places. Try to avoid televisions with a quality under 720p. Consider refresh rates, contrast ratios, and overall quality!

Is it possible to install a device to a tv with only 60 hertz in order to make it 120 hertz?

Steve S

I have a toshiba 40 inch led 60 hertz refresh rate.

Answer
No. And don't worry about it. 120hz does not give you better contrast ratio, color, shadow detail, off angle viewing etc. It also causes other problems like massive response time lag, and artifacts because the frames it creates are not real. Just enjoy the TV that you have.

Which tv does brand and model or what not can make the ps2 fit the whole hdtv because it wont fit mine im willing to go buy one in talking about it wont fit the aspect ratio.

Answer
The LG LW5600 series evinced excellent color in bright and dark areas, along with relatively deep black levels and even screen uniformity for an edge-lit LED-based LCD TV. Its matte screen works well in bright rooms. The Smart TV Internet portal is well-designed with a solid selection of streaming services, and LG includes a Wi-Fi dongle. The secondary motion-sensitive remote provides a cool, easy-to-use control option. Passive 3D on this TV has minimal crosstalk, is brighter than active, and LG includes four pairs of lightweight, nonpowered glasses

Which TV should I get in a bright room?

Confused

Was recommended Samsung LED UN55B6000 at best buy but can't decide if I should get UN55B8500 instead. Best Buy doesn't carry the 8500. The TV will be in a bright room.

Thanks for all your input!!
I know the main difference between the 6000 and the 8500. And was told that viewers with bare eyes would not be able to tell the difference.

Answer
I just bought the Samsung UN46B8000 two weeks ago for a room that has a 30 foot palladium window in it, so it's very bright in there. It has a matte screen and I have not had any problems seeing the picture in the last two weeks. Even with the lighting of the room behind on, I still don't see glare or have any problems. I can also tell you that after 2 weeks of agonizing research, this Samsung model was one of the best recommended of all LED TVs out there right now.

I'm 14 right now. Being in today's world filled with video games, reality tv, and cell phones, it does give me a wondering of what America was like during the 90's. Was it better then today?

Answer
In addition to what Fitz said, I would like to add that the U.S. government under President Clinton had a budget surplus. People had jobs and could afford their mortgages and food for their families. The U.S. was relatively prosperous in the '90s.

George W. Bush changed all that in 2000. In four years, he destroyed the American economy, stripped away many of our freedoms, deceptively led us into an unnecessary war, and encouraged fiscal waste and widespread corruption with no accountability. In short, he destroyed this once-great nation. I can never forgive him or his administration for that.

We have never recovered.

What is the best TV for bright rooms?

HANDS

I have a very bright (big windows on 2 sides) reck room on the South West side of my house. This TV will be used for sports most of the time! I am looking for a TV in the rage of 52 to 70 inches that will give the best picture with out the glare. I am also not looking to spend 3k on a new set. I would like to keep it under 2000.00. You help is appreciated !

Have a great day and thank you for your answers!

A

Answer
The general consensus is that LCD's are best for bright rooms! Not always true!

I've seen LCD's that reflect horribly and Plasma's that don't reflect a thing! If you're looking to not spend a fortune, stay away from LED LCD's! They're at a huge premium right now($2,000+)! If you go regular LCD, make sure to go to a store that has a lot of different models on display...just to make sure there's no glare!

However...i recommend a Panasonic Plasma TV! Most new models of Plasma's have anti-reflective coatings on them that reduce glare to almost nothing. Plus...they are the most affordable HDTV right now and they have the best picture quality! They have the highest native contrast ratios(40,000:1) and the fastest response times(.001ms) as well as fastest refresh rates(600hz)! Making them the best with fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming!

Here's what i recommend for you. It's the highest rated HDTV series in the world right now(Panasonic's V10 series)! http://reviews.cnet.com/best-high-definition-tvs/?tag=leftColumnArea1.0

Is it possible to get the 3d effect of a 3d movie like Avatar in a samsung 6 series LED TV (mine is 46 inch - 100 hertz) when the movie is played in a 3d blue ray player?

Answer
I think the 3d movie can play on samsung 6 series with a 3d blue ray player, though the samsung tv has different models and technical parameters, it still can play 3d movie on samsung tv ,I think that the simplest way is to use a 3d converter, because for the ordinary people, it is very hard to understand the operating principle of 3d, especially for those sophisticated technical parameters, besides the experts, it is very difficult for other people to finish this operattion, off course , I do not doubt your ability, but in my opinion, if there is a simple way to solve this problem, Why not use it? Not only to save the time but also enjoy to the visual effect fast. In fact, I like 3d movies too, so I often watch 3d movies , what is more, I also make 3d videos about my family by using a 3d video converter, it is good helper for me, if you have interest on it , you can check it :http://www.3d-converter.net/

It's a 60" led tv
i have 8ft ceilings
I am sitting approx 10ft away from the tv
How high should i hang in?

Answer
60" is a big tv.. cool :)

I think the best position is 4-5 feet from ground, so it will be nice looking..

You're not put this TV on your bedroom right? 60" TV is too big for bedroom, if you want to have TV for your bedroom, you can buy a 24"-30" LED TV.. I recommend Viore LED24VF60 24-Inch LED http://www.beegadget.com/tv-and-video/viore-led24vf60-24-inch-led-1080p-hdtv-black because it cheap and have good picture

what was your most awful hotel experience?

Lexi & Aus

In Jamaica, we went to a really great hotel, or what the reviews said. the remote did not work, the lights wouldnt turn on, the blinds were STUCK open and the door wouldnt open at all, the water in the shower was all brown, and the sink didnt work, the tv did not come in clearly, it was in spanish, and the beds were hard. it was supposed to be a great hotel! we left the next day. it was so ghetto lol!!!

what is yours?

Answer
In terms of luxury hotels, management has always made things right for me, not counting the giant flying cockroaches on one tropical visit. My worst experience was at a small family-run motel in a small NC town that came extremely highly recommended by family and friends.

When we arrived, there was nobody at the front desk; a little sign advised us to go around back and find someone. We went around back and found someone who then had a long phone conversation about her aunt before checking us in. On entering the hotel room, we were greeted by a strong musty smell and large white trellis on the wall with sprigs of fake flowers arranged around it.

Our room was supposed to be a suite with a living area, bathroom, and bedroom. The living area was furnished with a grubby loveseat and other furniture that in no way matched anything. The carpet was one of those dark coloured mottled ones that is designed so it won't show dirt or stains, but there is a point where even that sort of carpet can no longer hide the crud, and that point was probably about 5 or 10 years ago. The walls were made of fake wood paneling painted blue. They were also very thin, judging by how clearly we could hear the people in the room next door and their two extremely unhappy toddlers. The room was freezing, so I turned the heat on.

My wife opened the door (made out of 1X4s nailed together) at the back of the living area and discovered that it led to a tiny bathroom. There were no towels. On the other side of the bathroom was another homemade door that couldn't be closed, leading to the bedroom. The overhead light was burned out, but the lamp at the bedside table worked.

Revealing a bedroom furnished with a jumble of thrift store finds. At least the bed was neatly made. Crisp white clean sheets except for a single long black hair and a spot near the edge of the sheet where someone had written "BMW" with a marker. That might have been the last straw if either of us had been in the mood to storm off and find somewhere else to stay, but instead we flopped down on the bed and looked up at the holes in the ceiling tiles and the badly patched walls and laughed.

On the way out to grab a late dinner, we phoned the front desk and left a message about the light and the missing towels. When we got back 2 hours later and the light and the towels still weren't taken care of, we slogged out to the front office through pouring rain to inquire. A cheerful young man apologized for the lack of towel, saying that he must have thrown it on the floor when he was working on the toilet the other day. He handed us a fresh white towel with a few faint yellow stains and said that he'd be by in the morning to take care of the light.

Surprisingly, we slept well even though it turned out that the only heat vent was in the front room, and heat had to pass through the narrow little bathroom to get to the bedroom. We woke up at the crack of dawn because the blinds wouldn't close and the morning sun reflected off the mirror directly at the bed. The sun moved and we went back to sleep, waking up just in time to pop into the front office for the "continental breakfast" which turned out to include a pile of fruits of varying ages, granola bars, and individually wrapped pastries that looked like they came out of a vending machine. Later, after discovering the largest ant ever seen struggling in a puddle of water beside the sink, I picked up my shirt from the top of the dresser where I'd left it in the gloom the night before. It turned out to have been sitting on a cheapo "ocean scent" air freshener which smelled more like urinal cakes than the ocean. Unfortunately it was the only warm shirt I'd brought, so I had to wear it again.

For all their apparent inattention to detail, though, the hotel staff managed to notice that my daughter got hair dye on 3 towels, and they charged us to replace them.
