best led tv full hd image
Q. I have just bought a SANDSTROM S46LDIB10 46" Full HD LED TV and am not really happy with the sound. in the settings part it has a number of settins which are..120HZ..500HZ..1.5KHZ..5KHZ..10KHZ ranging from plus 10 to minus 10, has anyone else got the same problem and no the best way to set them?

Answer
Audio is often compromised on sets like that because there's no place on the front to put decent size speakers. They're either extremely tiny at the bottom of the front, pointing down on the bottom of the case, or a little larger but on the back panel pointing to the wall. None of that is good for quality sound.

Since all TV's are different, you won't know your best equalizer settings without experimenting with them. Start with all 5 controls at the center and listen to the sound. Then, start with 120 hz, raise it a little and test again. Proceed in that manner with the other controls until the sound is as good you can make it.

My guess would be a strong advance at 120 hz, about half that at 500 hz, and neutral on the rest. But that's only a guess--try it yourself and see.

How can i get the best possible picture on my TV?

mad man

i have the new samsung 46 inch full hd 1080p lcd led tv with a 1000w samsung 5.1 surround sound also full hd the dvd player. I have them connected through hdmi and i would really like to know 2 things 1. how can i get the best possible picture through dvd. and 2. my surround sound only works with dvds how can i connect it to work with the cable tv aswell

Answer
To get the best possible picture first is to make sure you have all your gear hooked up with the best cables possible. Then is to have your TV professionally calibrated by a certified ISF technician. They have very expensive test gear and can get into hidden menus that only service technicians are able to get into. They also calibrate each input for the source being used. Its reasonably expensive to have done but when you think how long you have TV's and how often you view it its really not that bad.

There are other stores that offer similar calibrations I would strongly suggest against it, only go with true ISF certified technicians. You can find one on their web site.

The cheaper option is to buy their video essentials calibration disc which is very informative and will help you get reasonably close with a little patience and practice.

Good luck
