Casey Koby

I recently bought a 60inch Samsung LED TV with a tv stand to rest the tv on. I have had it for a couple weeks now and the more and more I look at it and think about it, it would look a lot better if the TV was raised 8-12 inches. Any ideas on how I can do this??? I have been looking around at table TV stands and floor stands but but most of them are very expensive.. Not looking to spend more than $100 or so..

Answer
get a wall mount, much cleaner looking. a mount for a sixty will cost you about 50 bucks (thats what i use on my 56")

How to remove streaks on LED TV?

Austin Pat

I have a Vizio LED TV and I cleaned the screen with Windex (Which I didn't know was bad until AFTER I did it, of course.) So now I need to know if there was any way I can remove the streaks. I already tried just damping a cloth with some water and going over it but that didn't help much. Will the streaks just go away? I'm totally lost, help?

Answer
Oh no. I JUST gave somebody advice about this on Saturday. NEVER clean your flat panel screen with Windex for the very reason you mention. Streaks. I'll give you the proper way to clean it without leaving streaks. Here's what you need:

Distilled water
Bottle of white vinegar
empty spray bottle
A clean rag (must be 100% cotton)
Eyeglasses cleaning cloth

Instructions
1. The first thing you do is make a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar. We used 1/2 a cup of each.

2. Pour your new cleaning solution into an empty spray bottle

3. Spray the solution onto a cotton rag.

4. Wipe your screen with the rag using small circular motions. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to your screen while doing this as it can damage your screen.

5. Use the eyeglass cleaning cloth to wipe your screen in small circular motions.

DO NOT USE PAPER TOWELS (Paper towels have wood fiber which can damage your screen)

Use this method to clean your TV screen. It will dry quickly and never leave streaks.

Good luck.

Jeremy

Listed by importance.
Anti-glare,
Good view from different angles,
HDMI,
Good Audio.
Internet connection isn't absolutely necessary.
Size doesn't matter.

Answer
This may help you decide:

1. Anti-glare: avoid a plasma set.

2. Good from different angles: avoid an LCD or "LED" set (get a plasma set).

3. HDMI: just about any modern TV will have one or more HDMI inputs.

4. Good audio: just about *none* of modern TVs have really good audio. If that's of high importance, plan on using a sound bar or home theater system with it. That said, the best audio from internal speakers comes from those with speakers, in order of preference, (1) mounted in the front or (2) mounted on the back panel. Avoid anything with speakers mounted on the bottom edge--the worst possible audio.

what is the best cleaning product to wipe finger prints off of an LED TV?

Jacob

i know you should use a micro fiber cloth or whatever theyre called (i have one) i was just wondering what liquid cleaner i should use. I heard that there are certain cleaners that permanently smudge or darken the screen so i want to be careful. i also heard there might be different cleaners depending on whether the tv is LED or LCD. thanks for any help you can give

Answer
The 'smudging' is because someone uses strong ammonia-based cleaner and it dissolves the anti-glare coating or hazes the plastic protector screen.

The little $10 Monster screen cleaning kits are probably your best bet.

You can make your own cleaner with grocery store alcohol and distilled water. You want a 50:50 ratio of the alcohol (so if your rubbing alcohol is 70% solution you use more water). Spritz the screen while it is cold and let it sit for a minute to work (because this is a weak solution), the gently wipe with the cloth. Do not rub at a spot but re-spray, wait, wipe.

The guys at Revision3 have a show on making your own screen cleaner if you want to see it.

If it's an LCD / LED / plasma set, recycle it and get a new one. The cost of repair will approach, if not surpass the cost of a new TV.

Why won't my led tv give the best gaming graphics?

Sam

I have a 40 inch Samsung led TV. I got it mainly for good gaming graphics, but it's not giving me really good results. I've seen other tv's have amazing gaming picture quality. How can I make the quality of gaming graphics better on an led TV?

Answer
You do not have a "LED" tv. You have an LCD tv with LED back-lighting. This it to improve black-levels.

For gaming - you also need 120 hz to reduce motion blur.

You may have failed to go to your game system and tell it you have a HDTV with 1080 resolution.

You may also need to properly adjust the Brightness, Contrast, Color. Get a Pixar movie and go to the disk setup menu. You will find test patterns and instructions for setting the basic TV settings.

Get your setup correct and it should improve things.

Note: Televisions in the stores are set to nearly 100% Brightness and Contrast to make them 'eye catching'. However this tends to loose fine details and colors will then bloom or expand into other areas. While it looks impressive for the 10-60 seconds you walk buy - it does not look good for long term viewing. So do NOT compare your screen to one you saw in a store display.

Hope this helps.

I've read that a slower rate (like 60hz) would be better for a gaming TV? But I've also heard that a faster would be better too, so I'm unsure with which to go with. Any advice?

Answer
plasmas run at 60 hz which is best for anything that moves fast. plasmas do not have motion problems.

lcd/led have motion problems so they created 120 hz and 240 to try and make it look better... if you have a good eye. you will hate the way lcd/led's look when things move fast

How to clean the 3 lenses on my projection TV ?

flarnt

I have an older 65 inch Hitaci TV (65F59) . The picture has been getting darker over the years with the bright up now to 100%. I assume it's due to dust on the 3 projecter lights inside. I plan to one day take TV apart then clean the dust, dirt, etc.

Does anyone know what to use, how to do it or a link to a website who specializes in big TV's

Thanks

Answer
How old is it?

Rear projection TVs also lose color. I had a 40' rear projection Mitsubishi for 25 years, picture was getting darker and the green beam was fading. $50 for house call, he boosted the green beam and told me that you are better off buying a new LCD, LED or Plasma than spending any more - average life of rear projection is 10-12 years.

Phone an authorized Hitachi TV repair place and talk to a tech. These people have probably dealt with problems like this a lot of times and they could give you what the problem is. Dimming picture likely means dimming lights. They can also let you know about $$$$$ for changing the 3 beams.

It will likely be cheaper to buy a new LCD TV. The new TVs are much easier on the eyes with super sharp print and vibrant colors.

When I purchaaed my 42" LG HD TV I had only wished I bought it much sooner (except I was waiting for prices to come down)

how does advance technology affect the supply of good or service?

best led tv available in india

Alicia

Answer
Advanced technology has made technically ever more sophisticated equipment available to us and the trend can be expected to continue. in many ways the goods are improving, sometimes dramatically (TV) but they mostly have a lifetime (with reasonably careful use) of around 4 to 7 years; then you need some service.

Sadly technology has also led to the virtual extinction of service notwithstanding that companies have telephone numbers for their service departments. If you try to actually obtain service from most suppliers or manufacturers (those for cars are a rare, surviving exception) you will be encounter so much difficulty that you will sooner or later give up and replace the whole product, which is actually the idea. You cannot even do the service yourself because technology has so sealed up or encapsulated the defective device that it is totally inaccessible and will be destroyed by any attempt to open it. Thus you will have to throw out a perfectly good razor only because the charger has failed!

For example - today's standard service - you try to contact the service department of a company! You will either get no answer, a little girl (she may be quite tall but sounds little) will promise to call you back but won't or you will be received by a recorded voice which asks you interminable questions and conducts you through a maze of criteria in which you make entries and choices by pushing numbers, and finally either leaves you hanging with some music (if you're lucky) or simply cuts you off so that you can start again. In such cases there is in fact no service at all, only the machine or the little girl who knows nothing about the company or any of its products.

Another (only a little less common) variant is the outsourced service. For some reason a company thinks it must offer some show of support (e.g. for software) so it sets up a telephone answering and technical support team in India (they seem to speak English and are very cheap). The staff will answer even your local call and they will be excessively polite and "helpful" to the point of complete frustration but in the end are totally incompetent. You will be led round different kinds of loop, e.g. trying to make direct contact into your PC, which after a half hour of fruitless tries has to be given up like all further attempts to understand, diagnose or fix your problem.

This is modern service - none at all! Ask for a service demo. before you buy anything expensive!

Is there a way to purify water using the sun's energy? An affordable method everyone could have?
Thanks you guys, I'd like to make a miniature one for ALL people to be able to collect rainwater, then purify it. I'll be researching your ideas.
Yse, Jim, I was trying to open a dialog where someone could come up with a way for peoples around the world to have access to their own drinking water derived from rain water. thank you all who responded, I "lerned" something already. Anyone else want to answer before Jim get 10 points?
Sorry about the spelling errors, everyone.

Answer
Water has the highest specific heat of any liquid below the molecular weight of 100 - it really takes a lot of energy to boil water!!! Using solar energy to boil water is certainly possible, but are you really interested in creating drinking water, or distilling water?

Someone in India needed an affordable way to make lots of drinking water inexpensively (I saw this on TV). What they came up with was a "germicidal" UV lamp and a shallow aluminum tray for the water to pass under the lamp, thereby "purifying" the water to drinking water quality by killing all the bacteria.

The germicidal lamp fits in an ordinary fluorescent fixture, and is very efficient on power. His task was to design the parts that would certify that all the bacteria was killed. The design will treat LARGE volumes of water economically; something a distiller won't do.

One more important point to consider: a true steam distillation process is intended to remove the minerals from the water as well as everything else. You need to think this through very carefully and research what happens when people drink (only) distilled water.

Because of difference between salinity in people's body and the distilled water, the distilled water will strip the electrolytes (minerals) from your body. This is not a good thing! If you distill the water, you'll have to add some minerals back before it would be drinking water quality.

This is why the bottled water at the store offers both drinking water (water with small amounts of minerals) and steam distilled water (for your steam iron, where you don't want any minerals)

One other person in Yahoo! Answers wanted to purify water using UV LED technology - UV LEDs operate at even lower power that UV germicidal bulbs, and could be driven by solar cell/battery combinations. UV LEDs are just now becoming available, and will soon be affordable.

This is assuming that the water you have is drinkable but just needs to be affordably cleaned of bacteria.

Water that is brackish or saline would need to be steam distilled, but that is expensive due to the energy required. There are other water treatments available (osmosis, filtering, dissolved mineral removal such as iron, hard water treatment, etc), but these cost money.

I'm interested in LEDs and Active Matrix TFT (thin-film-transistor) the color resolution/reproduction from devices such as portable video devices when compared with larger ones, like the jumbotrons in football stadiums, signs and venues such as the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, NV.

My direct interest is in applying a combination of the type of addressing methods currently in use on LED signs such as those used in major cities and the methods used in handheld devices. I welcome suggestions and input on which form of addressing the various LED groups would best work in a football-field-sized, "justified motion field" a grid that acts as a large video screen projecting from below the field, (via fiber optics), while built-in sensors underneath interact with Active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification tags, (using something akin to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth Technology), for signal ID verification of movement above the field, tracking movements of ball/players and half-time shows...
amkhali,

I'm sure you think that you know what you're talking about, however, your answer applies to a whole different method of picture production, one which utilizes an electron gun and would apply to Cathode Ray Tube CRT Televisions and not the kind I am inquiring about: portable thin film transistor type of LCD Liquid Crystal Displays in small handheld devices, these use a wire-grid addressing method that specifies a signal to a point on a grid from both sides and top to bottom to tell each pixel at each point of intersection on the grid to light up a specific color, red, blue, green or shades and combinations of the three to form 16,000,000 colors or, all at once to form white and none on at all at that grid point to form a dead cell pixel, many of which, when 'off' make shades and spots of gray to black. There is no electron gun involved, as the only backlighting provided is via 2 or 4 side lights, usually flourescent strip bulbs. I need replies from persons in such fields

I have never heard of element and saw mixed reviews, but it is made in America, which I like. Will an Element 32 inch led tv last, or will it break in two years like my Emerson did?

Answer
You're going down 12 inches so you will notice the difference. It has been my experience that you get what you pay for so if you buy an off brand TV be prepared for it to go out in a year. Basically they take advantage of the poor by making them pay more. Save an extra hundred and buy a 32 or 40" name brand HD tv. I bought mine from Walmart and saved about 150 dollars in black friday.

Can Sell Tax Help The USA To Bail Out?

USA.There at least a Billion Dollars being spent on taxes
Everyone go to the store to buy food and paid taxes on
the food and gas o line.

Answer
Dear Maze K,

It costs a lot to run a nation.

First, federal taxes and state (and local) taxes are two different things. When you pay taxes on food or clothing, that money does NOT go towards federal funding. It goes to STATE AND LOCAL taxes to pay for your policemen, your schools, your teachers, your public transportation, the maintenance repairs of your town's government buildings, your prisons, your building inspectors' salaries, your local street-cleaning crews.....the list goes on and on.

...and even though you didn't mention property taxes, they are a HUGE Part of taxation in Americans' lives--and those taxes go to your LOCAL governments. Even if you're renting, the owner of your apartment has to pay property taxes on the place you're renting. I have to pay over $2,000 per year in taxes on the small places I rent out to my tenants (I'm a landlord).

.But again, these are local taxes, not federal taxes (although the federal government offers 'deductions' for property--but let's set that aside for now).

Gasoline? Yes, there's a FEDERAL tax on that but it is a surprisingly meager compared to European countries--I believe in the US it's only a few cents on the gallon (unfortunately, cheap gas led us into some of the problems the US is experiencing today).

Your FEDERAL Income Tax, on the other hand, goes towards paying for federally-controlled things--like our US military, our US government workers' salaries, our CIA, FBI, IRS, National parks, our national highway system, government regulation of various projects (like the Alaska 'bridge to nowhere'--projects like these are called "pork.").

Today's $700 billion BAILOUT will involve FEDERAL taxes, and will cost the American between $10,000 and $36,000 per taxpayer, or so they said today on the TV news.

....of course, both the democrats (Obama) and republicans (McCain) are talking about 'keeping taxes low'--but sooner or later SOMEbody is going to have to start taxing Americans more to pay off the $10 trillion national debt we've borrowed from China and Japan, our two biggest lenders).....and those were FEDERAL loans......

So what I'm saying is that you have to pay LOCAL taxes AND FEDERAL taxes if you work in the US. Neither are cheap. But sooner or later that $10 trillion debt is going to catch up with us taxpayers OR our children......too bad we wasted so many $billions fighting a pointless war in Iraq.

Also, who makes the best LED LCD? I've heard Samsung is good with the exception of the sound quality.

Answer
Samsung Series 9 or Series LED
Sony XBR 8 or XBR 10
LG LH90 or SL90

All of those series of LCDs rank very well. I think you'd be in good shape with any of them. If you are not happy with the Samsung sound quality, check out the Sony or LG models and see if either of those are up to your satisfaction.

You could also check out Sharp. I think they do make an LED LCD. I just can't recall the series off the top of my head.

As for the TV size, a little grade school pythagarous can solve that...

TV diagonal is 55". HDTV is a ratio of 16:9.

(16x)^2 + (9x)^2 = 55^2
256x^2 + 81x^2 = 55^2
337x^2 = 55^2
18.357x = 55
x = 2.996

16 x 2.996 = 47.936
9 x 2.996 = 26.964

So the 55" HDTV would measure basically 48" x 27".

What kind of HDTV is better: Plasma, LCD , LED, etc.?

FSPT_Tech

I want to buy an 40" - 46" HDTV (1080p) for my home to replace my 10 year old 40 " CRT TV. I've seen different types out there: Plasma, LED. LCD. What's the difference and which is considered best (quality-wise). Any references to links that explain the different types of TVs on the market now. I'm just now able to afford getting into 21st century technology and would like some help.

Answer
Confused about what type of TV to buy? LED LCD Plasma.. How to choose?

After all, there are so many acronyms and buzzwords to wrap your head around, such as 1080p, 120/240Hz, 24p, HDMI and LED backlighting. Huh?

Along with deciding how big a screen you want (which is usually tied to the size of your budget and the dimensions of your room), the next choice should be between LCD.LCD (LED Backlit) or Plasma â and all have their merits. Here, we'll describe each of these formats, and also point out their shortcomings.

LCD

What is it?
lcd tv 120mhzSimilar to your laptop computer's monitor, flat-panel LCD televisions use a liquid crystal display to produce a sharp and bright picture; these crystals are sandwiched between two panes of polarized glass, which are stimulated by an electric current and illuminated by fluorescent tubes housed behind the glass. Some newer LCD TVs, however, use LED-backlighting instead. LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, translate to a better-looking picture (see photo).

Pros
There are a number of advantages to buying a LCD televisions. For one, with more than three-quarters of all televisions embracing this technology, there is a lot of choice when it comes to manufacturers, models and sizes (13- to 103-inches, in fact). Competition, of course, breeds more aggressive pricing, too, which is good news for the consumer.

Flat-panel LCD televisions are also very thin, light and energy efficient, and are ideal for rooms with plenty of ambient light, which, for example, comes through large windows as they tend to absorb rather than reflect light (reflected light can obscure your view of the screen).

Cons
Until recently, LCD TVs didn't handle fast motion images as well as plasma TVs, resulting in a somewhat blurred image. Newer LCD TVs, though, have added technologies such as 120Hz frame doubling (or 240Hz frame quadrupling) to smooth out motion. It's still not as good as plasma, but much better than before. Also, LCD TVs used to have problems showing dark blacks (because a light was still on behind the pixel showing black, resulting in a more greyish hue). Many LCD televisions today use local-dimming with LED-backlighting (see next section) for improved contrast ratios (whiter whites and blacker blacks) - but, keep in mind, this is not an issue associated with plasma TVs.

LCD (LED Backlit)

What is it? Not a Different Type of TV

led lcd tv backlighting backlitItâs tempting to think LEDs belong in a completely separate category beside LCD and plasma TVs, but in reality, an LED television is just a type of LCD TV. The proper term would really be "LED-backlit LCD TV," but that always seems to get truncated to "LED TV" in everyday conversation, perpetuating the confusion.

To understand how LEDs function in an LCD TV, think of an actual liquid-crystal panel as the plastic pegs in a Lite Brite. They hold a translucent image, but without a powerful backlight to punch through and light it up like a signboard, youâre not going to see much. On your old Lite Bright, an inefficient incandescent light did the job, but pretty unevenly. On a typical LCD TV, fluorescent lights provide the backlighting through a special plastic sheet called a light guide that distributes light from a fluorescent tube evenly over the surface of the TV. On an LED-backlit TV, fluorescent tubes are replaced with light-emitting diodes â LEDs â the same technology that probably lights up your digital watch, the buttons on your monitor, and the indicators on your stereo. They can be either situated along the edges of the TV like a fluorescent tube, or arranged directly behind the screen in a grid. But what difference does it make, and why would anyone spend so much money on it?

The Benefit of LEDs

The most obvious reason LEDs have fallen into favor in LCD TVs: theyâre simply more efficient. Although fluorescent lights do a decent job converting electricity to light in the big scale of things, LEDs perform even better. Typically, manufacturers claim an efficiency improvement of up to 30 percent over fluorescent-based sets, which can add up significantly over the lifetime of a TV, especially on larger screens that use more juice to begin with.

LEDs are also much smaller than tubes, even after accounting for the number of them needed to light an entire TV. That means LED-backlit televisions can be manufactured significantly thinner than their tube cousins. For instance, most of the ultra-thin televisions that measured under an inch thick at CES used LED backlights, because they add very little depth to the profile. Though commercial variants arenât quite as dramatically thin as these prototypes, theyâre significantly skinnier than their fluorescent-backlit counterparts, making them some of the most chic and living-room-friendly HDTVs out there.

For home theater enthusiasts, LEDs only matter for one reason: image quality. Because fluorescent tubes mu

I know the problem hasn't occured with LCD televisions.
I aslo know that a LED screen has more lamps and has a increase chance of failure.
The odds of pixel defects are higher. But it is so much thinner than LCD. More power efficient.
Better contrast ratio. My biggest problem is the screen edges are lighter of color. I mean after all its is best PQ we are after. Do the higher end models have this problem too?

Answer
Depends on the model.

Edge-lit LED TVs have all the light at the edge and use light-guides to spread the light.
They show "blooming", but can be made very thin.

Full-array LEDs have them spread in the back - in a full array. They provide better image quality, but are thicker.

Look for Full-array, back-lit, with Local dimming. = the best.

What's the difference between an LED TV and an LCD TV?

Criminal M

I think the LED one's are better quality. Is that true? also, what makes them different?

Answer
They are nearly the same. Both have a liquid crystal display screen. The only major difference between the two is that older or less expensive sets use a fluorescent lamp for the backlight, while an "LED" set uses a bank of light emitting diodes.

The LED backlighting uses less electrical power than the fluorescent lamp. There are two versions, "edge" lighting and "full matrix." Edge-lit sets can be very thin. Full matrix sets allow for "local dimming," which can bring improved contrast in specific areas of the screen.

However, don't look for a *major* difference in picture quality. The HD picture on a very good conventional LCD set will be difficult to discern from an "LED" set.

i'm doing research on a LED TV under $1000. I see the word blooming. what is this? Any suggestions on a good LED TV?

Answer
Blooming is evident when there is a white object that is on a black screen but the white on the object trails into the black. For example a field of stars in space, blooming would look like the stars are too bright and bleed more into the black of space.
This usually only applies to full array LED-LCD models which you will not find any under $1000 whatsoever. You will have no choice but Edge lit LED.
Just so you know their is no such thing as an LED TV, they are LED-LCD's. Some companies (im looking at you Samsung) like to false advertise that they make LED TV's which they do not.

Best 3d settings on a Samsung LED Smart TV 55'?

Bears34

I am watching the NBA playoffs and I wanna feel like I'm actually there. Want the movie theatre experience want things to pop out. Gotta put use to this 1000$ +TV. What should my settings be? Depth, 3D mode, 3D perspective?

Answer
Keep in mind that to watch in 3D you will need the following: 3D HDTV, 3D blu ray disc player, 3D blu ray disc movies (at this time there are only around 190 title available and they are mainly animated movies from Disney) and 3D glasses for each person. 3D has not been a big hit due to the lack of support and high cost. I would not recommend any of those home theater in a box, they are not flexible for adding anything to them or for up grading. It is mainly designed for you to watch a movie with the built in player with surround sound. The only system I can recommend is the Onkyo HT-S3500, it is a 5.1 receiver that is flexible for connecting other device to it and a set of speakers. You can demo the unit at any Fry's Electronic and retail for under $300. You add a Panasonic blu ray disc player, under $100 and you have a nice system that is dependable. A Panasonic Plasma tv 50" and you have a nice system for around $1,000. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

can you take a 19 inch led tv as a carry on?

?

is it possible to take a 19 inch tv as a carry on? Because I dont want to put it in the checked luggage in fear of it getting damaged. And do I have to pay duty taxes when I arrive in Mexico?

Answer
No, it will not fit in the overhead compartment. The TV will most likely be in a TV box, and that will take up too much space in the bin. The crew will make you check the item at the counter or at the gate. I would recommend shipping it via FedEx or UPS and insure it. If you transport it and it gets damaged, the airline will not take responsibility for it.

I need a new tv. I'm trying to stay under 1K$. I'm gonna be getting like a 47 inch, unless I just find like a great deal. But I found a good LG. Its 47", 120 hz, 1080p. Its under 900$ I believe. Are those good things? And whats a good contrast ratio, thats about the only thing I dont know about?

Answer
Plasma made by panasonic or even samsung have 600hz
and have 20 times better contrasts than LCD's maybe you
should look into a panasonic plasma, great refresh rates,
great contrasts, all out the box. For LCD you need to pay
more just to get the 120hz or 240hz refresh rates, and to get
really good contrasts from a LCD, you need to get a LED LCD
which also will cost way more, but the plasma is cheaper and'
has all those features built in and still has the better
picture than the best LCD's. A panasonic plasma won best
picture for 2010's line up of 3D and HDTV's. Don't listen
to myths about plasma.

How much do hdtv prices drop over a years time?

Hello, I'm planning on saving up for a Samsung LED HDTV. I'd like it to be 55 inches or more, I don't really care to have smart technology, and I'd love for it to be one of the ultra slim ones. It seems for 55 inches I'll be paying about 1100 dollars, for 60 inches its 1300 dollars, and any more than that, they automatically add the smart technology so its 2,500 or above. But I was just wondering how much a tv's price may drop in about a year from now. I've seen that 55 inch LED's used to be 2200 dollars but now they are 800-1200. How much do these prices usually drop in about a year with the new technology?

This is the tv I plan on buying:

Answer
It's a tough thing to figure.

A particular model that you like may have a limited shelf-life. Manufacturers tend to make new models in order to keep prices up. Though the price of model 55-123LED (making this model number up) may be $1500 right now...conventional wisdom means that this model should be cheaper next year. The problem is that the manufacturer stops making this model and replaces it with the 55-321LED. Though it is completely identical to the old one...it is a 2013 model and therefore will still be worth the $1500 as a 'current' model.

The best time to purchase last years model is just before/just after the new ones hit the shelves. Stores will cut prices to make room for the new ones. If you wait to long though...you will find last years models hard to find.

A couple of tips for you:
A Good sale can happen anytime. It doesn't have to be Black Friday, Columbus Day, etc. Keep an eye on weekly ads from the major retailers in your area...as well as the online shops. With Price-Matching (which most major retailers offer)...anyone's sale could be a sale for your local store.

Don;t be afraid to ask for a discount. You have to believe that EVERYTHING is negotiable. You don;t have to be rude about it...just a simple "Is there any other way to save money on this TV?" I got 5% off my TV at Fry's Electronics simply by calling the manager over and asking if they're was any way he could save a few bucks (told him I was just a bit short on covering the full cost + taxes). Salesman/managers may know of coupons, etc that can save a few bucks.

Is it too late to register for fall ONLINE classes in CA? Prefer community but any will do?

NorthWest

Answer
Enrollments for the Calif. community colleges and state-funded universities for the Fall 2012 semester are full for both on-campus "bricks and mortar" classes and online classes.

If you have already applied for admittance to a Calif. CC or state-funded univ., and were accepted, you were probably notified of the deadline for enrolling in classes. If you did not apply for admittance at any Calif. CC or state-funded univ., then you will need to do that first - for the Second (Spring) semester starting in Jan. 2013. After you are notified of acceptance at a Calif. CC or state-funded univ., you will need to attend a new student orientation program where you will enroll in any classes you wish to take and find out how much the tuition/course fees will be.

There are for-profit/career/proprietary colleges/universities (not to be confused with private/independent colleges/universities) doing business in Calif. Often they have "rolling" admissions. However, I would not recommend most of them. They are first and foremost businesses with the main focus of earning profits for their owners/shareholders. Many tend not to be accredited by acceptable academic accrediting organizations making the "educations" they offer questionable and making it hard for their graduates to find the kind of employment they were led to believe they could find upon graduation. Many such schools charge extremely high tuitions, also. Some for-profit schools are fine. Some are not. You would need to investigate any that may interest you very carefully and not believe the advertising hype they post on their web sites or have on ads on TV a lot during the daytime and late at night.

How to report stolen items out of state?

led tv 62 inch
on Review: Sharp 70-inch LCD TV | HD Living Magazine
led tv 62 inch image

Elyjah

Recently my deadbeat a**hole of a brother, stole my mother's $213.50 Xbox 360 64.32 Xbox 360 Controller, my two games Black Ops 2, NBA 2K13, Mass effect 3, Assassins creed 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist and Defiance. He asked my mother could he take it to a hotel with his girlfriend, because a whole different story.

So the next day he came back and my sister, mother and brother were gone and i was asleep. So he took $62.33 Hair Clippers, $513.12 42 inch LED Vizio TV and he left his dog that we now have to take care of. Now I'm only 17 living with my mother, and she bought all this stuff for the house and the clippers for me. Now he is out of state, whereabouts unbeknownst to me...but my mother kept telling me I can't report this stuff because the police wouldn't care. But now she's crying everyday and i just feel bad, can somebody please help me with what i can do?
Sorry i meant my "few games" not two.
So i don't know the prices because i don't have the receipts? That's how i know all the prices, cause we keep the receipts. And also I'm trying to help her or let her know that we PROBABLY could report theft out of state. I never said that she said wouldn't let me report the items, she saying that I'm not going to be able to report the items because the police wouldn't care.

Answer
The stuff in your first paragraph, the police will tell you to sue him in civil court. He had permission to take the items, so it wasn't theft. The fact that he hasn't returned them in a timely fashion doesn't make it theft, even if it seems like it.

The hair clippers and TV, on the other hand, constitute a theft. If they were your possessions and not your mother's, you could report them stolen. The police would at least take a report, but it is unlikely that much action would be taken.

Whats the difference between Led-Lcd tvs and LCD tv's? Which has better quality and which is cheaper?

best led tv gamers
on United States From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to: navigation ...
best led tv gamers image

Khloe

Answer
Well - for starters...LED tv's actually are LCD TV's...it's just the current atmosphere of marketing has everyone thinking that they are completely different (like Plasma vs LCD).

Where the difference comes in between the 2 is in it's light source. In the traditional LCD TV...the lighting of the screen came from CCFL's (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps). In the LED version...the light source comes from small LED's (either behind the screen or around the edge...which is why you will see some advertised as "Edge-Lit LED").

As far as which is better...it really depends. For the most part, LED is going to be the superior light source over the standard LCD. Additionally, the LED is going to have much better contrast, black levels, white levels and viewing angles...and they also tend to be more energy efficient. As with anything though...the better quality ones come at higher price tags.

These days...the LCD (at least the classic LCD) is pretty much on it's way out. Production costs have come down for the LED technology and marketing/advertising has all but completely forgotten the LCD.

The only real advantage you will find in the LCD is the price...and even that is not much of a difference any more.

If budget is your ultimate concern...might I suggest a plasma?

Plasma's are still the preferred choice of gamers and many home theater buffs due to the excellent contrast ratios, black levels and lack of motion blur. And these features exist in even the entry level models because thats just the way plasma tech is.

If it came down to the cheapest Plasma vs the cheapest LED/LCD...I would take the plasma every time.
