We bought a 56" Samsung Touch of Color LED TV a few days ago and I've been enjoying MW2 on it alot. But now my step dad is saying that I should limit my playing time on it because the game's stationary HUD might burn into the screen. I only play for about 2 hours a day and so does my sister, so there's about 4 hours of playing time a day. Is this enough to damage the screen?

Answer
Theoretically, no LCD TV (which is what yours actually is) will have a burn-in problem. That's a characteristic of older plasma TVs. LCDs with LED backlighting are the latest and the greatest, so there is very little likelihood that they'll ever suffer a burn-in problem.

What is the Cheapest Way to play a constant Video on a TV?

deathmore1

I am Building a Room and Making a LED Monitor or TV that will Constantly be Playing a Video of a aquarium. What I need is the cheapest way to get the video hooked up to the TV in HD. I was thinking of using a DVD player but that would be a pain so maybe a USB with the video on it but how would I hook that to the TV. Maybe a netbook or cheap desktop any help would be deeply appreciated.

Answer
If you did not buy a TV yet buy one that has a USB capable of HD video playback (mp4 or mkv video formats). The repeat video function should be build in, hopefully.

Depending of how much will the video of the aquarium change I recommend LED or LCD TV to reduce ghosting and burn-in issues.

Is 32" too big for a TV for a bedroom from 4+ feet away?

Bright

My current TV is an LCD that is about 3-4 years old. I want to get a 32" LED TV. I was wanting to get it not only because of the available 120 Hz refresh rate (my current one is only 60Hz) and is has more current ports (more HDMI, etc). I don't think the smaller tv's have the more advanced options.

When I sit in front of my computer. I'm about 4+ feet away from my TV. Keep in mind the TV is on a stand about 13 or 14 inches from the wall behind it.

Is this too close for a 32" TV?

When I lay down and watch TV, it is much farther away.

I could theoretically move it

Answer
I have a 40" flat screen tv about 3 feet away from my desk and its fine.

A piece of paper got stuck in my DVD Player!!!?

Anna

well i was the dumb one to paste a piece of paper on my cd to identify it.and since i used really cheap roseart glue, the paper got stuck inside when i tuk the dvd out.now when i put it in it makes really weird sounds and im afraid i cant watch anything on it now.is it possible to get it out...its those dvd players that r on ur big screen tv.help me please omg im gonna get in so much trouble ):

Answer
Is your DVD Player built into your TV ? Either way if it's a stand-a-lone unit or a TV Built in DVD Player, you will have to:

Both: Remove power prior to servicing.
Stand Alone DVD:
1. Remove top of the unit VIA the screws on the back and side of the unit
2. Pull out the Piece of paper lodged in the unit
3. Replace the top of the unit (case/housing) reinsert and screw in the screws

Built in TV:
1. Lay your tv down on a safe surface remote the base of the tv to allow for it to fit flush on the ground, make sure nothing is under it remove the back of the unit, locate the DVD drive you might need to remove some hardware depending on TV. you'll finally locate the DVD drive and remove the paper.

However when you say BIG Screen TV what type? Big Flat Screen LCD/Plasma/LED ? or Rear Projection?

I suggest look up your TV model if its a built in, and check out the service manual if one is avaliable.

Also before going into your unit de-static yourself by touching any metal thats grounded, like your door knob.

My 32 inch LCD Emerson hdtv broke, will it be that much of a downgrade to go to a 24 inch LED Vizio TV. Basically I am looking at either a 24 inch vizio or a 32 inch LED element tv. I have never heard of element and saw mixed reviews, but it is made in America, which I like. Will an Element 32 inch led tv last, or will it break in two years like my Emerson did?

Answer
You're going down 12 inches so you will notice the difference. It has been my experience that you get what you pay for so if you buy an off brand TV be prepared for it to go out in a year. Basically they take advantage of the poor by making them pay more. Save an extra hundred and buy a 32 or 40" name brand HD tv. I bought mine from Walmart and saved about 150 dollars in black friday.

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

Alexandra

I'm 13 years old, so I was only 3 on 9/11. I don't remember anything I did on that day, since I was so young. As I got older, I started understanding more about what had happened. I think it is unbelievable. I also think it is very interesting. So I'm asking you, where were you on September 11, 2001? When and how did you receive the news? Never Forget what happened. <3

Answer
I was working in an Air Force medical squadron. My boss was on his way out the door when I got word we were under attack (after the second tower got hit). He stood there with mouth open and turned white as a sheet. We went into Threat Con Delta (highest terror threat alert) immediately. The gates were locked and all cars were moved away from the buildings. Many area nurses who were either retired or on vacation called in to offer help. I referred them to the Red Cross. Many of the troops who were off that day showed up immediately. One troop was vacationing in NYC and went immediately to the Triage Center to offer help. We all became New Yorkers that day. Later, I went out for a smoke and announced to the younger folks ..."today the culture changes." We hooked up a TV in the Lobby and watched the terrible events unfold. It was a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day. It led to tons of work for me in the weeks and months to come as we deployed hundreds and hundreds of troops to Afghanistan, Qatar, Pakistan and all the "Stan" countries, etc., etc., and later to Iraq. Pray for the innocent souls of all those we lost that day...and the troops we lost in fighting the War on Terror. God Bless America.

Answer
I just got a new LED backlit LCD TV (LED) for my room, and we have a G10 42" panasonic plasma in the front room. To be very honest plasma TV's are still alot better in every way in terms of picture quality the only advantages of LED tvs in my own experience are lower power consumption, thickness, weight... a Plasma wins hands down when gaming, watching sd/hd content etc. I'm considering buying another panasonic plasma in 2012 they'll look stunning.

Biggest/Best quality TV you can buy for $1,000?

Tyler

The caption pretty much says it all. I have a thousand dollars. What kind of TV Should I get? I have an Xbox 360 and it will pretty much be a gaming TV. links would help. Thanks guys :-)

Answer
You should look at either the 47" LG LW6500 or the LW5600 (2011 models). They are 3D LED TVs and should come very cheap now that its 2012. You can still buy them new at some sites. Since you're going to be gaming a lot, you definitely can't go wrong with a matte screen (they have matte).

Answer
It's a scam. It doesn't work.

RK is has not been proven in any scientific studies to be efficacious in humans. The active ingredient, 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) butan-2-one, is not known to have the effect Dr. Oz stated and the side effects of RK on humans when taken orally as a supplement are not established or well understood. Hence, people with fat issues, should do as the best minds in nutrition and health on the planet, the US National Institute of Health, have been recommending for decades and avoid all supplements unless recommended by a health care professional.

When it is proven that 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl) butan-2-one is efficacious and safe for humans, you will see Big Pharma producing it in a prescription-only oral form and, of course, that will be followed by national advertising in mass media...something you don't see now because scammers can't afford serious ad campaigns and are stuck with the cheap "reach" of the internet. There's considerable profit to be made. In the mean time, the best option for the average person with fat issues is proper eating, plain & simple. Just as with acai, the buying public will eventually learn RK is no panacea for fat problems, the mania will subside, and we'll be waiting for the next big fat loss supplement that doesn't work to come along.

Dr. Oz is the worst kind of information source because he promotes both good and bad information in equal measure making it all but impossible for his audience to separate the fact from the fiction and, thereby, leaving them to conclude that much of his quackery is in fact truth. The painful results has been hordes of people spending their hard earned money on hopeless remedies and tonics such as acai berries, raspberry ketones, green tea, and African mango extracts.

Here are just a few of the hundreds of experts who are speaking out about his quackery

Ref: http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/jref-news/1260-pigasus-2011.html
"The Media Pigasus Award goes to Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has done such a disservice to his TV viewers by promoting quack medical practices that he is now the first person to win a Pigasus two years in a row. Dr. Oz is a Harvard-educated cardiac physician who, through his syndicated TV show, has promoted faith healing, "energy medicine," and other quack theories that have no scientific basis. Oz has appeared on ABC News to give legitimacy to the claims of Brazilian faith healer âJohn of God,â who uses old carnival tricks to take money from the seriously ill. He's hosted Ayurvedic guru Yogi Cameron on his show to promote nonsense "tongue examination" as a way of diagnosing health problems. This year, he really went off the deep end. In March 2011, Dr. Oz endorsed "psychic" huckster and past Pigasus winner John Edward, who pretends to talk to dead people. Oz even suggested that bereaved families should visit psychic mediums to receive (faked) messages from their dead relatives as a form of grief counseling."

Ref: http://www.ktradionetwork.com/health/dr-mehmet-oz-is-a-fraud/
Note the excerpt: "Dr. Mehmet Oz is a huge promoter of vaccines. Heâs been on television reinforcing fear about H1N1 swine flu and telling everyone to get vaccinated. But what he didnât tell his viewing audience is that he holds 150,000 option shares in a vaccine company that could earn him millions of dollars in profits as the stock price rises. It is in Dr. Ozâs own financial interest, in other words, to hype up vaccines and get more people taking them so that his own financial investments rise in value."

Ref: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/for-shame-dr-oz/
"So what has led me to conclude that Iâve finally completely had it with Dr. Oz? Or, as Popeye would say, âIâve had all I can stands, I canât stands no more!â"

Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_ketone
"Although products containing this compound are marketed for weight loss, there is no clinical evidence for this effect in humans.[11] Nutritional supplement manufacturer Andrew Lessman criticized and countered sensationalized media and marketing claims about raspberry ketoneâs purported weight-loss benefits and strongly cautioned against its use.[12]"

HP Envy 14 Beats Edition vs MacBook Pro 13"?

divinjalin

I have the chance to get a new laptop but I couldn't choose between the Hp Envy 14 Beats Edition and the MacBook Pro. I like how the Envy has the slick, black design with the beats logo and audio. I am pretty serious about music sound quality and the Envy can give you this (I also do have Beats by Dre which I heard is to be amazing when connected with Beats Audio laptops).Yet I love how the Pro also has a slick yet more sturdy design than the PC. Also how it can give you iMovie, iPhoto, iBooks Author and Garageband (These softwares are really important to me). Garageband may not be the best music producing software, yet I do know that it is simple and easy to use. Also I can get the MacBook cheaper if I buy it from my school. The teachers will get me the international keyboard (English/Normal keyboard) and install Microsoft Word and the other apps for free. I also think I can upgrade the specs on the MacBook if I want to. The cost (I live in Europe) of a normal MacBook is about 1500 Euros, yet through the school, I can get it under 1000 Euros. The HP will be have to bought in the U.S. and brought by my relatives. The cost is about 1150 Dollars for the PC. Yet even though the cost is great for the Mac, I really really value the fact that the HP has Beats Audio. That is what is stopping me. Also everyone at my school has a MacBook and I have the thought that it would be cool to be different. It is hard to choose...
Finally the technical details,

Since Smart Tv with 3D sea to be the latest, should I definitely go for 1 with this ? And is LED the best choice ? Someone is selling a mint LG 55 inch 3D LED TV WITH 5 PAIRS OF 3D GLASSES TV WAS BARELY USED ADULT OWNED for $900 . Think this is a good deal ? Thanks in Advance !

Answer
Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. You are not going to find any LG brand tv being recommended. The lack of software for the 3D technology is limited. At this time there are only around 180 titles available in 3D and they are mainly animated movies from disney. I would not recommend buying a used tv. Panasonic is the most reliable tv in the market today. If you read yahoo questions all the time you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD or LED tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. Forget 3D and get a smart tv, you can purchase a brand new one for the same price and with a factory warranty for a year. If you purchase one at Costco you will get one more year of warranty and have 90 days to return it. Hope this will help you out.

How much to Best Buy employees save on TV's?

Matt

I was looking at a Samsung 55" 3D LED TV and my buddy used to work at Best Buy but doesn't anymore. Wondered how much an employee could get this for, it was $2500.00 on the sales floor.

If I could find somebody that worked there and if their discount were high enough I would give them cash for the TV and extra just for them to get one for me...

Thanks,

M.

Answer
The amount of the discount varies, but the best deals are usually had on "open item" merchandise. Getting an employee to jeapordize their job just so that you might enjoy a discount is probably NOT going to happen, so I'd suggest you apply for a seasonal position at your nearest store. The hours are flexable, and as an occasional/seasonal employee, your discount would begin as soon as you do.

What is the Cost to repair a broken screen of a 47 inch lcd tv?

kfurlong93

I own a 47 inch LCD screen LG TV. Something was thrown at the screen and although it looks okay while turned off, when you turn it on the image is shattered. About how much would this repair cost?

Answer
It will cost you more to have it repaired than just buying a new one. The labor cost of repair is very high. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD/LED tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While Samsung, Sony and Toshiba (the top other brands) does not (April issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio (the next 4 brands) did not even get mentioned. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems is from LCD/LED tvs and 95% of those are off brands. Hope this will help you out.

Answer
I would suggest getting a Sony LED TV.

They're the best LED TVs right now and have won so many Editor Choice Awards this year and the HX series was named LED TV of the year from many websites such as Cnet, Techradar, PCmag and Techreview.

I currently own a Sony Bravia EX720 from 2011 and it's spectacular for both 2D and 3D gaming (Uncharted 3 in 3D was AMAZING).

So yes, I would totally suggest a Sony LED.

what is the best 60in led tv?

Frank D

Answer
Home Theater magazine just came out with their Editors Choice article and they like the high-end Sony XBR as the best television.

I personally like the higher end Samsung with the Smart Hub software because it integrates a lot of streaming services but it runs the streaming video through the internal up-conversion circuit. The Samsung E6500 series is number #2 or #3 on Consumer Reports top television lists.

Last years model D7000/D8000 have been out a while but have outstanding reviews.

Is it possible to get the 3d effect of a 3d movie like Avatar in a samsung 6 series LED TV (mine is 46 inch - 100 hertz) when the movie is played in a 3d blue ray player?

Answer
I think the 3d movie can play on samsung 6 series with a 3d blue ray player, though the samsung tv has different models and technical parameters, it still can play 3d movie on samsung tv ,I think that the simplest way is to use a 3d converter, because for the ordinary people, it is very hard to understand the operating principle of 3d, especially for those sophisticated technical parameters, besides the experts, it is very difficult for other people to finish this operattion, off course , I do not doubt your ability, but in my opinion, if there is a simple way to solve this problem, Why not use it? Not only to save the time but also enjoy to the visual effect fast. In fact, I like 3d movies too, so I often watch 3d movies , what is more, I also make 3d videos about my family by using a 3d video converter, it is good helper for me, if you have interest on it , you can check it :http://www.3d-converter.net/

John Tinke

I know the problem hasn't occured with LCD televisions.
I aslo know that a LED screen has more lamps and has a increase chance of failure.
The odds of pixel defects are higher. But it is so much thinner than LCD. More power efficient.
Better contrast ratio. My biggest problem is the screen edges are lighter of color. I mean after all its is best PQ we are after. Do the higher end models have this problem too?

Answer
Depends on the model.

Edge-lit LED TVs have all the light at the edge and use light-guides to spread the light.
They show "blooming", but can be made very thin.

Full-array LEDs have them spread in the back - in a full array. They provide better image quality, but are thicker.

Look for Full-array, back-lit, with Local dimming. = the best.

What's the difference between an LED TV and an LCD TV?

Criminal M

I think the LED one's are better quality. Is that true? also, what makes them different?

Answer
They are nearly the same. Both have a liquid crystal display screen. The only major difference between the two is that older or less expensive sets use a fluorescent lamp for the backlight, while an "LED" set uses a bank of light emitting diodes.

The LED backlighting uses less electrical power than the fluorescent lamp. There are two versions, "edge" lighting and "full matrix." Edge-lit sets can be very thin. Full matrix sets allow for "local dimming," which can bring improved contrast in specific areas of the screen.

However, don't look for a *major* difference in picture quality. The HD picture on a very good conventional LCD set will be difficult to discern from an "LED" set.

What is the difference between an LED and LCD TV? Which one is a better choice for the money/time it will last/overall best picture? Also, must be able to get TV in about a 20in or so in size. And what would be the best brand and good price?

Answer
LED TV is just an LCD TV that uses a LED backlight instead of a fluorescent one. This helps alleviate the problem of poor color fidelity that LCD's suffer from, but does little to help poor black levels, response time, and viewing angles.

At around 20 inches, I would recommend a CRT for best picture quality. Resolution is NOT everything. Most people think resolution is a lot more important than it really is. So as long as space isn't a major constraint and you're not going to be using as a computer monitor, I'd recommend a CRT at 20 inches: where it lacks in resolution it more than makes up in response time, color fidelity, and contrast. Plus it costs up to 50% less than a comparable LCD.

http://www.memorex.com/products/product_details.php?PID=50706 This is one of the better 20 inch CRT's currently on the market. $160 at Target. I own one and am very satisfied with it. It's got 10 watts of power output, which is not only excellent for a TV of that size, but respectable for ANY sized TV.

Does anyone know what part of my tv is messing up?

Mage

I have a CRT, I'd say about 4 years old. Anyway, the top of the screen is starting to vanish. By that I mean that the top of the screen is blank black space. Is this the picture tube going out? And if so, what would be a good choice for a kind of tv that can be viewed from different angles without the picture being messed up like LCDs?

Answer
buy an led tv with image convrter

Looking for a 34-40 inch hd lcd, led, or plasma tv. I just want the clearest picture I can get for watching sports. Any suggestions on what tv?

Answer
LED is a just a form of LCD. What it does is allows the LCD to have better blacks, contrast, and colors. While not up to Plasma standards, its far beyond what normal LCD can do. But you pay a huge price premium for this feature. You can get a better plasma for less. Also, it doesn't solve the inherent motion blur problems of large sized LCDs.

LCD vs Plasma

LCD - is the everyman HDTV. It is cost effective, hence its popularity. It is also physically lighter than Plasma. It tends to draw less power than Plasmas as well (though good Plasmas are now competing with LCDs). It has a matte finish so is useful for rooms that have too much ambient light which can not be controlled. LCD whites are a bit brighter than Plasma whites (but how often do you crank your brightness to 100%). LCDs are considered better for gaming (but I don't think you'd be disappointed with gaming on a modern Plasma). LCDs are sharper in SD (think evening news instead of film); this isn't a good vs bad, its just a personal preference thing. LCDs also have a bit more muted colors; again this isn't good vs bad, its purely personal preference.

LCD technology has problems with fast motion though. That is why you see ones advertised with 120Hz or 240Hz refresh rates (100Hz and 200Hz in Europe). This does not come close to Plasma though. So they aren't as good for fast motion (sports and movies). The 240Hz ones are making good strides, but right now you're paying a HUGE premium for it.

LCDs are also not as strong with their ability to reproduce true blacks. Their blacks tend to be a bit grey and not a true black. LCDs with LED backlighting are coming out now though. These are finally starting to bring LCDs to the Plasma level in terms of blacks. However, like the 240Hz refresh rate, you must pay a large premium for this feature at the current time.

Plasma - they have better blacks (true black), contrast (greater ranges in blacks/whites so you get greys instead of clumps of black and white), and motion playback (their refresh rate is near instantaneous much like old CRTs were). Their overall image quality is better than that of an LCD. While prices on them are constantly dropping, they do demand a slight premium over LCDs of a similar category. The colors in Plasmas tend to have more "pop" to them; this isn't a good vs bad thing, its just personal preference. Also for SD viewing they are a bit "softer" (think more like film less like the evening news). This isn't a good vs bad thing, its personal preference. Most plasma owners get used to it and don't mind it.

Plasma's are glass though so are glossy. They can have reflection issues if you are in a room with lots of light that you can't control (you can't turn off the lights and you don't own any blinds). And good Plasma care would require you condition them. But its fairly simple to do. All you have to do is keep the brightness and contrast (picture) settings cranked way down for the first 100-200 hours, then optimize, and you'll have an amazing TV experience.

Plasma myth (1) - They experience burn-in. This is inaccurate, those days are gone. Just condition the gasses and then use it as normal and you're fine. Also, the better sets have built-in features to prevent this (on top of the technology just generally being better now than say 5 years ago).

Plasma myth (2) - They have short life spans. This is another inaccuracy. Most are now rated in the 60,000-100,000 hours range. At 8 hours a day 365 days a year that would mean a life of 20-30 years. So do you think you'll still want/own the same TV in 15 years, let alone 30?

Plasma myth (3) - They won't work in high altitude because of problems for the gasses. This is again no longer an issue. Current Plasmas can be purchased and used in mile high Denver, and above, so you'll be fine where ever you are (unless you're living in the Himalayas).

Plasma vs LCD - One important note though is TV size. In 42" and above you see and get the benefit of the Plasma advantages. But 40" and smaller and the benefits are diminishing. So if your needs are for a smaller television, LCD may be a wiser choice.

Plasma brands - Pioneer Kuro Elite is the best, followed by Pioneer Kuro. But these can cost as much as a small car. Panasonic Viera is the next best and is much more cost effective. The Vieras can give the Kuros a run for their money (they might not win, but they are no push over in quality). After that I would look to Samsung primarily as a Plasma option. There are also some LG models that have reviewed extremely well (but do your homework).

LCD brands - I would stick with Samsung, Sharp Aquos, and Sony (but only Sony if its on sale, otherwise it tends to be overpriced). Sony stopped manufacturing LCD panels, they now buy/use the same ones used in the Sharp Aquos sets. Samsung is a step above the rest if you go with the series 6 through 9 models. The series 4/5 are strong performers as well, but a bit better

Will I be able to adjust the refresh rate on my 600Hz Plasma?

Q. Hi, I'm getting a new LG 60" Plasma from Best Buy and I was wondering I know they're up to par with the refresh rate of gaming because i'm getting this because of the gaming...

I was wondering if i would be able to adjust the refresh rate on my plasma, and will i be able to use all the other modes other than "Game mode" without input lag... I just don't want a strong refresh rate where it will feel uncomfortable, but something smooth feeling and realistic feeling in gaming.

Also a little off topic i'm going for a 60" TV because i have a pretty big living room space, and was wondering if 18 or so ft. would be good for this size TV?

If i have anymore details to add i will do so down below, if any help would be great appreciated!

LG 60" Model No. 60PH6700
Actually I have the LG 2013 Model which is the 55LA6900 now that's LCD/LED and it has 120Hz which you can adjust the refreshh rate of TruMotion from 1-10 on any TV mode instead of Game Mode unfortunantly that's why I'm taking this back today, which of LG have great color and picture quality, i'm not saying Panasonic isn't good i've heard good thing's about both actually...

I'm wondering since this LCD/LED model now i have has the adjustments i'm assuming most brands keep they're adjustments the same so hoping maybe this LG Plasma all the adjustments as well for refresh rate....

Answer
- Top brands: Panasonic (Plasma) and Samsung (LED). (Plasma > LED > LCD). (LCD is going to be discontinued. A LCD tv uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps/CCFL backlights. A LED tv is a LCD tv, but with white or red, green, blue LEDs on the edge of the screen or a full array on the back of the screen).
= Plasma has best picture and audio quality (best response times, best viewing angle, best color quality, less/no motion blur for crisp/clear images because how it's refresh rate works). Newer Plasmas have improved their burn issues by using pixel shifting/scrolling. LCD/LED is best for bright rooms and have most light coming off the screen (Plasmas are not great for bright rooms because of screen glare and faded whites, but do great for dim or dark rooms). Newer Plasmas use less energy consumption and they are cheap to buy. LED are more popular because the manufacturers want to sell you their LED expensive tvs rather than their cheap Plasmas.

- I recommend 1920x1080p for movies, computer monitor/display, some tv shows, and some game console games and I recommend 1280x720p for some tv shows and some game console games. I recommend 40+ inches for movies and/or tv shows and 20-30 inches for computer monitor and 30-40+ inches for game console games.
- FPS (frames per second): Every video consists of a number of frames per second, think of a video as a fast moving flip book. NTSC countries use 60i or 30i FPS (newer stations use 30p or 60p FPS) for tv shows. PAL/SECAM countries use 50i or 25i FPS (newer stations use 25p or 50p FPS) for tv shows. Movies use 24p/25p/30p FPS (first movie to use 48p was LOTR: The Hobbit). Games use anywhere to 2 to 120 FPS (older games use lower FPS while newer games use higher FPS, usually they are up to 60 FPS today).
- TV refresh rate (measured in hz): Example, A tv with a refresh rate of 120 hz means it refreshes/flashes the entire screen 120 times a second.

- How do LED or LCD tv refresh rates work with the FPS of a video? (I recommend real/true 240hz refresh rate, some tv advertising may fool you by listing the fake interpolation or fake backlight scanning/dimming refresh rates).
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation (Names of the new technologies for newer tv's at the link): Motion Interpolation or Motion Compensated Frame Interpolation (MCFI), is a form of video processing in which new fake frames are generated between existing ones to up the FPS of a video to reduce motion blur and/or for judder removal/judder adjustment. MCFI video processing may cause gamer input lag and/or artifacts such as the soap opera effect (may ruin the look of a video).
- Many tv's allow viewers to turn motion interpolation (MCFI) off. The tv repeats the frames a certain number of times to match the tv's refresh rate. Example; To display 24 frames per second on a tv with a 120 hz refresh rate, each frame is repeated 5 times every 24th of a second.
- But what happens if the FPS of a video does not match the refresh rate of the tv? Then you get a pulldown, a pulldown is what causes a jittery screen (aka judder) because the tv repeats the odd frames a different amount of times the tv repeats the even frames. Example; A 3:2 pulldown is post popular because it is needed to match a 24 fps video with a 60hz refresh rate tv, odd frames are repeated 3 times (12x3=36) and even frames are repated 2 times (12x2=24) and 36+24=60 FPS for a 60hz refresh rate tv.

How does Plasma tv refresh rates work with the FPS of a video?
- It will take each pixel in a frame and and repeat it a number of times based on the number of sub-field drives (SFD) the tv has with it's refresh rate. Example 1; (NTSC countries) 600hz sub-field drive/motion tv means 60hz FPS x 10 sub-fields per frame = 600hz refresh rate. Example 2; (PAL/SECAM countries) 600hz sub-field drive/motion tv means 50hz FPS x 12 sub-fields per frame = 600hz refresh rate.
- What is focused-field drive (FFD) on Neo-Plasmas? (Light switching speed = better colors and less motion blur) 2500hz focused field drive means sub-fields are virtually packed into 1/2500th of a second as a sharp impluse, creating crisp motion images even in very very fast movining images (FFD is defined as a inverse of light emission period t. 1/t = 1/0.4ms = 2,500 FFD). Regular sub-feild drives like 50 FPS x 12 sub-fields = 600 hz, light emission spreads as wide as 1 field time (1/60th sec) maximum which results in blurry images for very very fast moving images.
- Refresh rates on Plasmas work similar to LED/LCD tv's. These settings are usually automatic, but you can change them in the advanced picture settings, Example 1; 2D 24p FPS mode and choose refresh rates of 48hz/96hz or 30hz/60hz with pulldown (might use interpolation frames for pulldowns), Example 2; 3D mode and choose refresh rates of 96hz for 24 FPS or 100hz for 50 FPS or 120hz for 60 or 24 fps.ect Of course it has gamer mode or many other adjustments.

What are the advantages of having a LED hdtv than the other normal LCD tvs?

best led hdtv
on The trend in TVs: Samsung's Best HDTVs in 2012 | PRLog
best led hdtv image

mark lloyd

Im planning to buy a LED hdtv this new year, but i really cant see the difference aside from the "light-emitting diode" feature. I mean, the resolution would be the same (1920 x 1080) like the other HD tv's. They say it's less power consumption, thinner pannel, dramatic impact etc. But aside from all these, what makes it stand out from the others?

Answer
LED TVs tend to have better contrast ratios (e.g. 1'000'000:1) therefore it is better at separating the darkest darks from the whitest whites consequently providing a more realistic image for the viewer.

That is the main advantage I am acquainted with, everything which you have stated is most of what I have read and heard.

Can you tell the difference between 720p and 1080p displayed on a 32 inch led hdtv?

Roland

i was looking to buy a 32 inch samsung led hdtv and i'm not sure if i should get the 720p or 1080p version. i like to sit fairly close to the tv due to my bad eyesight. i plan on using mostly to play call of duty and stream movies on Netflix. there is a one hundred dollar difference between the two tvs and i was wondering if is worth spending the extra money

Answer
It really gets down to personal preference. They say the tipping point between noticing a difference between 720 and 1080 is around 40". That is completely subjective though. The closer you sit...the more likely you are to notice. But then again...with poor eye sight (which you said you have) - you probably wont notice at all.

In the end...the only real way to tell is to look at both TV's on display somewhere and set yourself in front of them at about the same distance you would be at your home. If you can;t tell a difference...then save the money.

I just got new TV, so I thought it'd be fun to make it my monitor along with everything else. So I hooked it up via HDMI and it works perfectly. Only issue is, when I try to run Second Life, a viewer based MMO, it doesn't load responsively. It will load properly but at the login screen, it will be completely unresponsive. I think it may be a resolution problem, but I don't know for certain. It works perfectly fine on my 19" monitor, so moving up to a 47" led tv apparently makes it go wacky. If anyone can help, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Answer
i don't sure this will help you or not. when you set the monitor. you can set the resolution & Screen refresh rate. May be refresh rate not compatible?

What is better between a plasma and LCD TV?

best led tv for bright room image

Mariposa

Shopping for a flat-screen TV. Mostly for watching regular TV channels, Movies and Sports.
Not really for Video Games.

Which has a better quality and what brand would you recommend? We are looking for about 40 in size.
Tell me more about the LED screen, I want to know all of my options before purchasing.

Answer
It used to be that plasma was the hands-down winner on fast action like sports, while LCD's were better for bright rooms. These differences have largely gone away - and now there's LED'S. Do some research on the web (like PC World, CNET, etc.) to read pro reviews, owner's reviews, etc., but don't drive yourself nuts. If possible in your area, after some research, go to a big retailer and take a look - but hang onto your budget!

No matter what you buy, you'll probably love it. I'd also take a look at getting an extended warranty.
Take a minute to ask about HDMI cables and stuff, too. And then there's Blu-Ray. And - oh, never mind.

I'm a happy Toshiba owner, times three.

Happy Holidays

what is the difference between led and plazma TV?

what is the difference between led and plazma TV?

Answer
plasma tv gives the better picture quality compare to led tv but have bad reflection in bright sunny rooms, closing the curtains/blinds slightly can easily cure that problem

while

led tv are better in bright sunny rooms compared to plasma tv they do suffer from motion blur when watching fast action based sports or playing games and there is NO cure

also panasonic plasma tv's have won more awards in the past 3 years than any other make or type of tv,, thats how good they are

I was watching an episode of Law and Order on TNT and it was in 1080 HD, but it was an episode from 1994. This predates the US adoption of HD TV (1998). Were they using wide format film cameras? Why would they do this for a TV show?

Answer
They filmed on HD back then as default. The bad television quality crapped up the image. I saw a led zeppelin concert from the 70's in HD which led me to finding out the answer

Who are the true killers of the Khojaly civillians, during the Karabagh war?

During the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, both Armenians and Azerbaijanis became victims of pogroms and ethnic cleansing, which resulted in numerous casualties and displacement of large groups of people. By 1992 the conflict had escalated into a full-scale war. In February 1992 the capital of Karabakh Stepanakert was under a blockade and constant bombardment by Azerbaijani forces.
According to Human Rights Watch, the tragedy struck when a large column of residents, accompanied by dozens of retreating armed Azeri fighters, fled the city as it fell to Armenian forces. as they approached the border with Azerbaijan azeri forces used the opportunity to fire upon the Armenians who returned fire..
The Azerbaijani journalist Eynulla Fatullayev wrote an article called "Karabakh Diary". He reports that he met some refugees from Khojaly, temporarily settled in Naftalan, who said that the Armenian soldiers positioned behind the corridor had not opened fire on them. Some soldiers from the battalions of the National Front of Azerbaijan instead, for some reason, had led part of the refugees in the direction of the village of Nakhichevanik, which during that period had been under the control of the Armenians' Askeran battalion. The other group of refugees were hit by artillery volleys while they were reaching the Agdam Region.

Eynulla Fatullayev was sued for defamation and convicted in an Azerbaijani court to eight and a half years in prison and a penalty fee of $230,000. "Reporters without Borders" strongly condemned this decision, stating that the judgment was based on no evidence but is purely political

The town of Khojaly was located on the road that connected Shusha and Stepanakert to Agdam and had the region's only airport. According to reports from Human Rights Watch, Khojaly was used as a base for Azerbaijani forces shelling the city of Stepanakert. The indiscriminate shelling and sniper shooting killed or maimed hundreds of civilians, destroyed homes, hospitals and other objects that are not legitimate military targets, and generally terrorized the civilian population

So who indeed were responsible for the massacre of civilians in Khojaly?

Answer
Very credible reports and information point to the Azeri military for the Khojaly killings, I will provide two Azerbijani reports just as an example

1) Ayaz Mutalibov Former Prsident of Azerbaijan

The first president of Azerbaijan gave an extremely interesting interview to one of the Russian TV channels in which it is narrated that the first president of Azerbaijan, who proclaimed the independence of the country, at present is living in the outskirts of Moscow in a state apartment, without a passport and livelihood

The whole negative after the Khojaly tragedy was focused on me. I had to take the whole responsibility upon myself though I was not guilty of anythingâ, - claimed Ayaz Mutalibov in the interview. Let us remind you that on the 2nd of April in 1992, in âNezavisimaya gazetaâ Ayaz Mutalibov gave an interview to an independent Czech journalist, Dana Mazalova, who afterwards became persecuted in her own country.
The clan of the Alievs did not forgive Mutalibov for such frankness.

From the interview of the former president of Azerbaijan Ayaz Mutalibov to the Czech journalist Dana Mazalova, âNjvaya Gazetaâ, 2.04.92

Question:
What is your opinion about the KHOJALY events after which you resigned? Dead bodies of the Khojaly inhabitants were found not far from Aghdam. Someone first shot at legs so that people could not go farther. Then he added the axe, on the 29th of February my colleagues took photos of all this. Then during new sequences these very corpses were scalped. A very strange gameâ¦

Answer:
As the Khojali inhabitants, who narrowly escaped, say, it was all organized in order to have ground for my resignation. Some forces functioned for the effort to discredit the president. I donât think that Armenians, who always have a distinct and competent attitude towards such situations, could have let the Azerbaijani get the documents unmasking them in fascist actions. It could be supposed that somebody is interested to show these sequences afterwards, at the BC session and to focus everything on my person.

If I claim the Azerbaijani opposition to be guilty in it, they might say that I am telling lies about them. However, the general background of arguments is, that a corridor by which the people could leave, was, nevertheless, left by Armenians. Why then would they begin to shoot? Especially in the territory nearby Aghdam, where by that time there had been enough forces to help the people. Or, just come to an agreement that the civil population will leave. Such practice has always been usual.

Question: When were you informed about those lost lives?

Answer:
The next day after I was informed that there are just a few killed people in Khojaly. The information came from the minister of Home Affairs.

Question: Who was responsible for that information?

Answer:
The minister himself. By that time a press-centre had been established in the Ministry of Defense. After the story about the helicopters we had an agreement that nobody would spread doubtful information.

2) Highly respected Azeri reporter Eynulla Fatullajew spent 4 years in Jail for writing the truth

On 6 March 2007, Nizami Bahmanov, head of Azerbaijani community of Karabakh, complained that Eynulla Fatullayev had, in an interview published on a website, given "false information" that the Khojaly massacre had been committed by the Azerbaijani army and not by Armenians. . On 1 March 2007, 70-80 people had held a protest outside the editorial office of Fatullayev and raised posters that accused him of being a Dashnak (Armenian) agent and calling for Fatullayev to be stripped of his citizenship. After the reading the resolution, the participants threw eggs at the editorial office, breaking two windows. The police suppressed the protest. On May 31, the Azerbaijani Union of War Veterans expressed its disapproval against Fatullayev's article about the Khojaly massacre.

Fatullayev was charged with slandering the army and sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment, 4 year term he served in Baku. Amnesty International described the case as "trumped up charges after being critical of the government."

Fatullayev still maintains his beilef that Azeri military were only intersetd in human casualities to so as to create international condemnation and blame it on Armenians..His best friend Elmar Huseynov was murdered by Aliyev regieme in 2005 for reporting of corruption amongst the Azeri government.

Hence based on two very credible Azeri individuasl one being former President and the other being a reporter that has recieved international support and recoganation for his integrity in reporting truth have both pointed a firm finger at Azeri military for the Khojaly killings.
