Which would be the better option/picture quality, LED or LCD with 3D capability? What are quality differences?

I am looking for a 42-inch flat screen TV. I'm looking at a Vizio model which is LCD with 3D and wireless internet capability. However I also like the advantages of the LED rather than LCD. I'm on a rather tight budget and I want the biggest bang for the buck. I'm not in a huge hurry to buy, so should I just wait until an LED 3D becomes affordable... or perhaps 4D?

Answer
picture quality wise, they are pretty much the same, but we are talking about more on the features of a specific TV. i mean, check out these features for better picture quality:

1. the resolution - the best one is a 1080p
2. refresh rate - the higher the better, example (240hz is better than 120hz)
3. contrast ratio, again, the higher the bett ( 1,000,000:1 is better than 500,000:1) - but take note that every brand/manufacturrer have their own formula on computaing the contrast ratio of the tv.

these thre features are the one to check if you want a good picture quality.
you might also read reviews before buying one. you can buy at best buy or costco, and you can return the tv with no restocking fees and hassles.

any other features like wi-fi, google tv, netflix are just additional but won't affect he picture quality. also, take note that if you buy an LED tv, do not expect a great quality sound and/or speakers.

Get on a computer, watch tv, play xbox, and ps3 all on the same monitor?

ok so i wanna use a computer lcd or led monitor depending which one works best and i might get dish satelite so i wanna know how can i watch tv with that and i want to but this at costco maybe? or some other cheap retail store.

Answer
Get yourself an 1080p HDTV. That would have enough inputs to let you hook up all those things.

Typical HDTVs might have 3 HDMI ports and 1 VGA port. You can put your PC on the VGA port, and everything else (PS3, XBox 360, Dish HD) on HDMI.

Where is the best place to get a good deal on a new TV?

warning!

I have not bought a TV before, so this is new to me. I am looking for a good deal. Also, is there a certain time of year to get a better deal?

Answer
First decide on what you have in mind to spend. They come $200 and less and $2000 and more, and everything in between. Next decide within the realm of price, wall mount or stand mount and size for the room. Then decide on audio - through the TV, or an enhanced sound system. After you have an idea, you have Fry's in-store sales on the West Coast, and price against internet Tigerdirect, Newegg, Amazon, and try Nextag as a pricing comparison. Occassionally, Walmart and Best Buy do something special. Understand brand quality. Top brands are Samsung, Sony, LG. Then Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba. Then other covers the rest.
Plasma TVs are generally lower priced and heavier weight. LCD TFT-CCFL are fluorescent backlight LCD and generally have brighter but less uniform pictures and are mid-thickness, and LED-LCD is thinner and more uniform picture brightness. Plasmas are great day 1, and degrade faster. 720p is lower density pixels but cheaper. 1080p is higher density pixels. In LCD, refresh rate in milliseconds or Hertz determines the smoothness of flow of motion on the screen.
Know that all TVs have been shipped from China to US warehouses so the store location is not as important as you may think. But, standard delivery is doorstep - a large box outside your door, and bring in and/or setup is extra. Also, if you have Costco or BJs maybe, sometimes they have a deal. Check internet for reviews.
Time to buy, there are black friday after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday around then, and Xmas, and after Xmas, and generally new models are around April, so March is typically closeouts.
You also have extra features like internet capabilities for more money, and that would include Netflix direct reception among other features.
If not doing separate audio, beware of the watts per channel audio.
That's the general. Look at some at Best Buy if there is one near you, but don't buy the day you walk in no matter what.
Basic cheap set: http://www.frys.com/product/6802766
40 inch Coby brand $300
1920 x 1080 resolution is good, but Dynamic Contrast Ratio 6000:1 is awful. It means the picture will have a bit of a greyness to it. Refresh Rate 60Hz Response Time 8 ms means that in fast moving images you may sense a choppiness.
More typical is getting a really nice set that is not top of the line

Toshiba 46SL417U was $819 at Best Buy, mostly sold out. $830 here in NY from a reliable seller (check bbb.org and resellerratings.com): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755009-REG/Toshiba_46SL417_46SL417U_46_LED_HDTV.html
Decent brand, 46" diagonal size, LED backlit, 1080p, built-in Wifi, 120Hz, 10 Watts per Channel Audio. It isn't a super-deluxe 3D, and is not a cheap set. You decide what you want to spend, and what features you want, and what size you want, and understand that everything is trade-offs at a price. New models coming out shortly, meaning this years models are starting to closeout.

Which store or website sells flat screens at great prices?

Just as the title says, I'm looking to buy a 40 or 42 in Smart LED TV. I've heard that Samsung and Vizio are the best, so, that's probably what I'm looking for. Who has the best prices?

Answer
Vizio is crap. Look at Sony, Panasonic, LG, Samsung or Sharp TV's. As for stores that would probably have them for a good price check out Best Buy, Costco or maybe even Walmart.

Looking for a basic average size TV for $500 or less.

Answer
I think I saw one in Costco last week for $250, and I'm in Canada where prices are higher. I just checked the Costco Canada website, cheapest TV is a 19 inch Toshiba LED for $149. A 32 inch, which is more like what most people would call average size these days, is $249 for a Toshiba LCD or a Haier LED.

Looking to buy a new flatscreen TV and want the most bang for my buck.. suggestions please?

Since Smart Tv with 3D sea to be the latest, should I definitely go for 1 with this ? And is LED the best choice ? Someone is selling a mint LG 55 inch 3D LED TV WITH 5 PAIRS OF 3D GLASSES TV WAS BARELY USED ADULT OWNED for $900 . Think this is a good deal ? Thanks in Advance !

Answer
Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. You are not going to find any LG brand tv being recommended. The lack of software for the 3D technology is limited. At this time there are only around 180 titles available in 3D and they are mainly animated movies from disney. I would not recommend buying a used tv. Panasonic is the most reliable tv in the market today. If you read yahoo questions all the time you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD or LED tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. Forget 3D and get a smart tv, you can purchase a brand new one for the same price and with a factory warranty for a year. If you purchase one at Costco you will get one more year of warranty and have 90 days to return it. Hope this will help you out.
