should I buy an LED tv?

R

or will the price go down soon? I found that I can get around a 40 inch LED from walmart for $800. Kinda don't wanna get a regular LCD after I've seen the new ones

Answer
LED TV ( LCD-LED back-light ) is refine of LCD TV. it much better pictures quality / smooth pictures than LCD TV.
However , too many " off brand " LED TV on the market , is low quality LED TV. use 5ms Response time LED display panel.. really not worth that prices.
LED TV . go for Samsung / LG / Sony / Sharp , there use quality LED display panel . 2 ms Response time for Mose of the models. with 120 HZ refresh rate really smooth pictures .
Prices for any electronics items always " drop " every six months.
LED TV prices , of course will become much cheapest , but don't forget, new technology keeps coming. soon .. may be other TV maker use Sharp " quattron " RGB+Y technology ( as this moment , only Sharp use that , is great in colour display )
if you paid less for LED TV in next six months, that time you may think about new technology.LED TV ? and wait for another six months again .....no end !
Regular LCD TV prices also " drop " after another six months. TV maker swift to LED TV .

WHICH HAS BETTER OVERALL TV PICTURE QUALITY: LCD, LED, OR PLASMA?

The Q Man

And WHY?

Answer
There is no one answer. Plasma once had the most brilliant colors and clarity, but the latest model LCD (including LED) sets are, in many examples, equal or better.

"LED" sets (actually LCDs with a more modern type of backlighting) are the latest technology and, potentially, can supply the best picture. But an excellent quality LCD set, with conventional backlighting, can and in many cases does provide superior quality over a mediocre "LED" set.

Superior quality varies from model to model among different manufacturers. You need to look at the professional lab tests of specific models, like from Consumer Reports, then read a lot of owner reviews (i.e. Amazon, etc.). Anyone who says one type or one brand is absolutely the best across the board is not well informed.

I am thinking whether to spend $200 more on an Samsung LED 120 Hz TV vs Samsung LCD 120 Hz Tv. Do you think the picture quality of an LED TV will be better when watching HD Channels on Dish Network?

Answer
The claim that "LED gives better picture quality than LCD" is one of the most common myths in this business.

In the first place, an "LED" set is nothing more than an LCD set with a newer type of backlighting. They both have the same LCD display.

In the second place, lab tests and owner reviews demonstrate that the important factor in picture quality is the specific model of a set, not its brand or whether it uses LED backlighting. While LED technology does provide advantages, there definitely are conventional LCD sets with better picture quality than certain low-rated "LED" sets. You need to carefully look at test results and user reviews in order to make a valid decision.

So the bottom line for you, in my opinion, is no--the picture quality difference, if any, won't justify another $200, unless the specs, reviews, etc. of the cheaper set suggest otherwise.
