Can i use a LED TV with my computer, instead of a Computer Monitor?

primer___

Answer
Yes (possibly) if your computer is a laptop it should either have a VGA, HDMI, or S-VIDEO inputs and your TV should have one of those also. Just wire up whichever wire both devices support and Windows Vista & Windows 7 will both automatically recognize the TV as a monitor.

Now if you have a desktop PC depending on how new it is or if it has an actual graphics card or not it may only have one port (VGA or DVI). If it only has one port run the corresponding cord to the TV. If it has multiple ports you can use multiple monitors /tv's together.

LED tv Vs LED Computer monitor for gaming ?

Jesus Domi

Which is better to play Xbox 360 on ? For gaming which has better response time( I think that means faster playback ( less lag) )

Better with HDMI ?

Answer
Tv vs moniter is hands down easy moniters have always been superior in quality unless your will to spend tons on a tv, i have a 60hrz led 100,000:1 and my games look amazing, and a 47 10,000,000:1 480hrz both are tv's and a 23 250,000:1 60hrz computer monitior which looks better color wise but actual quality you cant tell, all running off hdmi which is the best for any use of a tv or moniter, has fastest transfer rate and cleariest picture/sound

How do i get the correct resolution on my 22" LCD TV when using it as a computer monitor?

I'm using a 22" LCD TV as a computer monitor at the moment, because i am unable to afford a monitor right now. It's a 22" LCD Toshiba TV, and i am using a HDMI to DVI cable, HDMI is in the TV, and the DVI is in my computer (Graphics card is GeForce GTX 650) and i have updated my Graphics cards drivers and all that, but when ever i select a resolution, every single resolution i select is quite blurry and just horrible to look at. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

Answer
No, there is no way you can fix it, your tv has a high response time which leaves ghost images, blurriness, fuzziness etc. I went through the same problem you are and will never use a tv again as a computer monitor. If the tv or pc monitor has any higher than a 2ms response time you get the problems with blurriness. 2ms response time is required for smooth motion playback motion and clear picture imaging.
Most lcd and led tvs are 8ms or higher. when you get ready to buy a monitor make sure to check the response time and buy one with a 2ms response.

I'll give you a link to a very good monitor it sells for $175 not including shipping charges on amazon. It would give you perfect picture with no ghosting. If you are saving up, I suggest you buy this monitor from amazon.

ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL- What is the difference between a 24" 1080p LED TV vs Monitor FOR USE AS A MONITOR?

enderw3000

I'm using this as my computer monitor. I have my own speakers and do not need to use TV speakers. I am just asking if theres any difference between the outputs of a 1080p LED TV vs 1080p LED Monitor? (ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL)

Answer
Better refresh, better response time (for the monitor)

Modern monitors are like that? 5ms or even 2ms response time? And monitors will do whatever refresh the video card says to do. :)

Are there any websites that just sell computer towers?

I have a 42 inch LED TV I use as a monitor via HDMI output from my laptop. My laptop is pretty slow because it only has 1 RAM of hard drive so I was looking for new computers but they all come with monitors, keyboards, a mouse, and lots of other things I don't need. Could you please tell me a place online that just sells towers that are HDMI port compatible? I really appreciate it.

Answer
Have you ever thought of buying the parts and building it yourself? MOTHERBOARD, HDD, RAM, VIDEO, POWER, PROCESSOR, and Box. Try Nextag.com. They do the shopping for you. Some MoBo's have on board HDMI. I use an ATI Graphics card that has HDMI. Building your own box is much more fun, and less expensive.

What is the difference between a computer monitor and an LCD/LED TV of a similar size?

drrouter

I would like to get a large monitor for my vision considerations. What are the major differences between two similar sized TVs and Monitors?

Answer
Computer Monitors
1.) Only go up to 32''
2.) Higher Image Quality. Better at display fine text
3.) Less inputs
4.) Cheaper
5.) Are only available with a refresh rate of up to 120hz
6.) Only higher end or more expensive models can be effectively mounted

LCD/LED
1.) Can go up 80''+
2.) Dollar for dollar image quality of a LCD TV won't match a computer monitor.
(partially with help of the video card)
3.) Far more inputs. Can plug your blu-ray player and all your other devices.
4.) More expensive
5.) Are available with a refresh rate of up to 240hz
6.) Better suited to mount on walls
