Best TV for under $400?

Joe

I'm in the market for a new TV for my apartment- not a smart TV or anything. I've seen a few 40-42" advertised for under $400, some even $300. I'm looking for an LCD (or LED but those are generally slightly more $$) with a 60Hz refresh rate. Some type of standard audio output would be nice. Any suggestions on specific TV's or brands?

Answer
Hit your local Craigslist for someones used television. Try to stick with major names like Panasonic or Samsung.

60 hz LCD panels are the lowest possible quality. You will see motion blur with sports or fast moving objects on movies.

You want 120 hz with LED back lights for a LCD panel - or a Plasma.

What's the best TV under $400?

I don't care how large it is, as long as it's at least 32". I just want the best overall picture quality. I've been considering this -

I been planing on buying a Samsung 43inch plasma for 399 and i was woundering if I wanted to save a little more money I seen a RCA 42inch , insignia 40inch , a lg 40inch, and Westinghouse 40inch. All the led's are 1080p and the RCA and insignia and lg are 60hz and the Westinghouse is 120hz. The Samsung plasma is 720p but 600hz so out of these tv's which would be the better buy

Answer
RCA, Westinghouse, & Insignia are crap brands. Buy the LG.

Which LED TV is best to buy at the moment?

I was thinking of buying either the Samsung UE32C5800 32" or SAMSUNG UE32C5100 32". I think 32" is a reasonable size but im not to bothered. But i was wondering if anyone new which was better and if they know of a different make/ model that is better?
Also is it worth while getting an LED TV?
Thanks in advance :)

Answer
Hi,

The Samsung LED televisions are not actually Full LED, but Back-lit LED. i.e they use an LED panel to provide light from the rear of the television. The remaining lighting is Liquid Crystal Display - a technology that has been around for sometime.

The only Full LED TV currently available is the LG LX6900 42-inch Widescreen LED 3D Internet TV with Freeview HD. This television uses Full Array LED Lighting...and is 3D and HD Ready so pretty much Future Proof for the next few years!

If your not concerned with 3D or having Full LED - the Samsung UE32C4000 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready 50Hz Slim LED TV with Freeview is an excellent TV for under £400.

Good Luck and Happy Viewing!
