I'm looking for a tv around 32 in. that is relatively cheap.

Answer
Both have a liquid crystal display screen. The only major difference between the two is that older or less expensive sets use a fluorescent lamp for the backlight, while an "LED" set uses a bank of light emitting diodes.

The LED backlighting uses less electrical power than the fluorescent lamp. There are two versions, "edge" lighting and "full matrix." Edge-lit sets can be very thin. Full matrix sets allow for "local dimming," which can bring improved contrast in specific areas of the screen.

New for 2011: some of the latest model edge-lit sets also provide for a certain degree of local dimming.

However, don't look for a *major* difference in picture quality. The HD picture on an "LED" set will be difficult to distinguish from a very good conventional LCD set.

Is the Sony 60nx720 led tv worth the xtra cost of other manufacturers.?

Is the Sony 60nx720 led tv worth the extra price of other led televisions.

Answer
Compared to what other LED TV's? The NX720 has local dimming edge led, Gorilla glass and built in Wi-Fi with smart features.

Amazon has it for $2544, the comparable Samsung model is $2536. Is it worth $8 more...yes.
