70 plus inch TV buying help?

Justin

LED TV buying help please?
Hello, I need some expert advice on a TV purchase that I'm going to be making in the near future.

I want to go with 70+ inches for sure but I need to stay in the $3000 range for price.

I have a short list of models but I would love to hear other options if there are any.

Sony KDL70R550A
Samsung UN75F6300AFX
Sharp LC-70LE857U
Sharp LC-80LE650U

Thanks

Answer
Dang there are a lot of thumbs down here!

With changes coming along, I'm not sure I'd plunk down $3000 on a set at this point. Maybe hold back a little bit and see where 4k ends up as prices fall as well as new technology that is around the bend.

Of the sets I see listed, my main "uneasy" one is the Sony, and that is due to parts availability issues should the set need repair at some point. Sony has really "fallen from grace" and just isn't the great brand, at least in the US market, that it once was. Great picture - but too much money is being spent on a set that may not be fixable.

Samsung and Panasonic (an excellent brand you don't have in your list) are good, safe bets. Actually Sharp has been making a good set, they just don't have the presence that Samsung/LG/Panasonic does.

How about this.... base your purchase on the service provided by the store. When spending good money on a good set, you want a store that will stand behind the set if you have a problem. I'd place that as the most important feature here (and still avoid the Sony).

Best/biggest TV for no more then $1,500?

MSI Magus

Ok so me and my wife are planning on getting a new TV. We were thinking we would get a projector since we wanted a really large image, but after reading about burn out rates of light bulbs and how expensive they are to replace we decided it was not for us. As a general price we want to spend between $1,000 and $1,500 but if the right TV(like something that was like 70+ inches for a good price)appeared we would pay more. We do not really watch TV, just instant streaming on netflix and we play a lot of video games. Only other thing to note is that screen size really is our main concern. We want something that is at least 58" but the bigger the better.

Anyone have any TVs or better yet sales to recommend? Even better if you can link sites that have it on sale!
