How do I clean my LED tv screen?

redace7237

I just bought one of the new Samsung LED tv's from Best Buy. Can I use the Monster stuff for like $20 to clean the screen, or is there something better I can use?

Answer
First off read the manual. See if it flags anything you shouldn't use. Most manuals discuss cleaning these days and you just want to make sure there's nothing in that Monster solution (or any other one) that the manual says to avoid.

Otherwise, then yes, an LCD cleaning kit, by Monster, or someone else, is a solid choice to use. Just make sure you're using it with a clean and still soft, microfiber cloth. If yours has seen better days, then consider buying a new one.

And remember to lightly mist the cloth and not the TV. Never spray directly onto the TV.

Answer
I looked it up on google myself because i have a 3 year old who decided to wipe their dirty hands all over the screen. The best thing recommend was one part water, one part white vinegar. Put it on a cloth or paper towel squeeze excess and clean your screen. I found it worked because i haven't had to clean my tv in weeks!

cleaning a LED tv screen?

Thomas

What is the best solution to clean baby power off a LED screen without ruin it? I used the cloth that came with the set but unable to wipe it clean the little hand print all over the screen where little Picasso did his masterpiece. Any I idea?

Answer
A few days ago there was a question posted here from a TV owner who tried cleaning her LCD display with a commercial screen-cleaning chemical, like the Monster product suggested in another answer. The chemical in the can was defective and her screen was ruined.

There is a safe and effective way to clean a flatscreen display, and you can rely on it. See the answer in the Yahoo Question below.

Can the cleaner thats used for LCD tv screens also be used for LED tv screens?

micahbrown

Its that special cleaner you get in the electronics area in any store thats blue in color and is used to clean lcd tv screens. I don't think that there'd be any problem using it on an led, but you can't be too careful especially with a tv that expensive. Thanks for your input.
PS: The tv's model is Samsung 55" series 6000 (if it even matters)

Answer
There is no such thing as a "LED" TV, that's samsung marketing. The TV you have is LCD, but instead of CCFL back-lights, you have LED back lights.

The screen should be very similar if not exactly the same as any other LCD TV. Go ahead and use it.

How many W RMS audio system should i buy to connect it with the LED TV if the size of the room is 11x19 feets?

Answer
AVDADDY nailed it on the head, but I'd like to add something for people reading this to consider.

Most people have no grasp of how much volume level just 1 single watt of output really is. With typical speakers of reasonable efficiency, you'll have to raise your voice to hold a conversation over a stereo playing at the 1 watt level. At the 10 watt level, you'll be shouting to hear each other.

Small speakers actually require more power than large speakers on average. As I type this, I am listening to a vintage Magnavox TOTL console stereo from the 1960's. Monstrous 15" woofers, 4 large horns on the front, and what was rated at 150 watts total by older EIA/IHF standards... closer to 20w/ch today. That console will truly shake pictures off the walls if you crank it. You literally feel the bass in your feet as you stand in the room with that 300 pound beast holding the floor down, and absolutely can't shout over it.

With average efficiency full range speakers, I'd be more than happy with 50w/ch of honest solid power than any of the crappy wattage schlock sold today. My home theater receiver is rated at 120w/ch, but I only have it as that Yamaha model is known to sound clean and is able to drive my JBL L7 speakers..something few modern receivers can do. I had to look up my model receiver to see what it was rated at - I had no idea. I don't care what the speakers are rated at either.

How can I safely clean wax off of an LED tv screen?

Jonathan

Long story short I've managed to get candle wax on my LED screen. I'm wondering what the safest most effective way to clean this off is. I'm thinking something like rubbing alcohol would work, but I want second opinions because I have never done this before and dont know what can and cannot hurt the tv.

Answer
If you're concerned about using the wrong solvent, go to a big office supplier and buy screen wipes. They contain a detergent and a mild solvent which will not harm the plastic surface and the material the wipe is made of will not scratch the surface either.

Alternatively, baby wipes seem to clean anything off anything and they don't harm a baby's skin, so they're unlikely to do much to plastic.

How to remove streaks on LED TV?

Austin Pat

I have a Vizio LED TV and I cleaned the screen with Windex (Which I didn't know was bad until AFTER I did it, of course.) So now I need to know if there was any way I can remove the streaks. I already tried just damping a cloth with some water and going over it but that didn't help much. Will the streaks just go away? I'm totally lost, help?

Answer
Oh no. I JUST gave somebody advice about this on Saturday. NEVER clean your flat panel screen with Windex for the very reason you mention. Streaks. I'll give you the proper way to clean it without leaving streaks. Here's what you need:

Distilled water
Bottle of white vinegar
empty spray bottle
A clean rag (must be 100% cotton)
Eyeglasses cleaning cloth

Instructions
1. The first thing you do is make a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar. We used 1/2 a cup of each.

2. Pour your new cleaning solution into an empty spray bottle

3. Spray the solution onto a cotton rag.

4. Wipe your screen with the rag using small circular motions. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to your screen while doing this as it can damage your screen.

5. Use the eyeglass cleaning cloth to wipe your screen in small circular motions.

DO NOT USE PAPER TOWELS (Paper towels have wood fiber which can damage your screen)

Use this method to clean your TV screen. It will dry quickly and never leave streaks.

Good luck.
