Ben

Hi guys I have had my x box for a long time its the x box slim and it is connected to a monitor. This means I cant hear any of the game sound. I was considering getting a T.V because then I could actually hear sound in the game but all my friends say a monitor has more fps and is generally better they have both so I trust there opinion. My monitor is terrible it only has two slots one to connect straight to electricity and one to to connect to my x box. My ideal thing to have is turtle beaches so I can talk to friends and hear the game as well and to be actually able to record my gameplay and my voice I know I wont do well on YouTube views but I would just love to be able to do it.
My budget is 200 and I could stretch to 250 so if i need to buy special speakers or a new monitor or even a tv then I will. I will also have to buy some kind of software to record sound and gameplay.
Links would be extremely helpful and more than one option would be too.
Thanks very much.

Preliminary Analysis:
-If you can't hear sound then I can safely assume your monitor doesn't have an HDMI port.

-If you want to record youtube gameplays you will need 2 monitors (1 for your xbox and 1 for your computer) as it can't be done all in one.

-You will need to buy a headset (turtle beaches are good and cheap, especially the X12). You will need to buy a second monitor with an HDMI port, or an HDTV. You will need to buy a recording device.

-You have $250 dollars available.

-Monitor vs. HDTVs in console gaming hardly matters unless you are a Pro player. I discussed this topic here:

Feel free to fully read it and draw your own conclusions.

How this is going to work:

-The Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 ($39.99 Manufacturer Refurbished- 90 day warranty, that's the cheapest I could find them for.

-Samsung 24" Ultra Slim LED Monitor VGA HDMI 1920x1080 Fast Response S24B300EL
($139, Seller Refurbished/Used, 60 day warranty, you can add an extra 1 year warranty for $23 extra. Being used/seller refurbished can be a hassle but you won't find a monitor of this category for less than $200, it's worth a try)

The reason why I chose a monitor is because due to their size they are cheaper than TVs and you are under budget.

-Elgato Game Capture HD ($159.36 New. I don't think you want to buy this used but you are free to do so at Ebay. I can't recommend any other Game Capture Device because this one is the best in the market and I haven't tried any other to be honest. You need a computer that can handle basic video processing and the better your computer is the less time and the better quality your videos will have. You will need "audacity" (free program) to add audio to your comentaries if you pre-record them. You will need Sony Vegas Pro, which you can pay a lot for or get it by other means that I can't discuss here. Or if you don't want the complexity of choices that Sony Vegas Pro will give you, you can just use Windows Movie Maker to render the audio you recorded in Audacity and your gameplay videos together.

As you can see:
$139+$40+$160=$339

It is above your $250 budget but it will be worth every penny if you truly enjoy gaming and uploading gameplay videos. There might be less expensive equipment but you will get no where near the same performance. The choice is yours. Good Luck. Hope it helps...

Is their a difference between 720p and a 1080p?

Mike

i want to use it with hdmi with my xbox 360 what resolution is better for gaming??? im getting a 32 inch so yeah thanks

Answer
Based on technically , our eye will not getting any resolution difference between full HD 1080P / HD 720P from any screen size below 40 inc .and the only source provide 1080P is via blue-ray at this moment. HD TV channel via box-cable / digital Free view ( ATSC/DVB -T ) , DVD / X-BOX all are 720P . is mean, even you watch blue-ray movies via an 32 inc LCD TV , there is " no difference ".
Keep in mind . that on " paper ".
TV maker understand such issue more than other , and yet come out small screen 26 / 32 / 37 inc with full HD 1080 models ? and the demand from consumer is great too. WHY ?
TV manufactures take 32 inc 720P models as Low End Standard models , every issue based on " cost ", designs is very standard. select a little high Response time LCD display panel , ue only 60 HZ refresh rare.
maker take 1080P 32 inc as Mid - Hi End models.
to support 1080P need better grade display panel . better video Enhance circuit.select a little fast Response time display panel. use 120 HZ fast refresh rate to cover the " motion blur ".
make it simple >
32 inc 720P TV vs 32 inc 1080P TV = low prices LCD PC monitor vs Hi end PC monitor. can you notice the difference ?
TV Video Enhance circuit = PC Graphic Card. * is great difference in display quality right ?
32 inc LCD with 1080 P always better than 720P models for sure, you eye noticeable the difference . because of product quality .
Brand is also important issue. International brand Samsung / LG / Sharp / Sony / Panasonic / Toshiba 720P models could be better that low prices house brand 1080P models. beware of trademark / maker quality.
for gaming or any moving image , standard 60 HZ refresh rate , the " motion blur " usually make you eye very uncomfortable. advice to select those 32 inc with 120 HZ refresh rate. that " cover / hide " away the motion blur.
WORTH to paid more for . Samsung / LG / Sony / Panasonic / Sharp / Toshiba 32 inc 1080P with 120 HZ models for total quality and reliable.of course , if budget allow , 32 inc LED TV( LCD -LED back light ) is much more better than LCD TV. do not believe some smart people said , just the difference in back light, no difference in quality., LED TV is RE-FINE of LCD TV. more rich in colour / deep dark colour / better black colour , much better in " motion blur ".those LCD TV unable to perform well, LED TV do it better.but you paid for it. worth it . ( LED TV go for Samsung / Sony / Sharp and LG ).
