So I asked a question earlier about the best Hagen Combo for my Fluval Roma 90 but had no replies

So anyhow I am not good with all this lightning and am now just thinking of spending some cash and maybe buying a Arcadia OT5 Freshwater 2x24W T5 with a suspension kit, as my Roma 90 has a strange frame on top so there's not much I can do as in lighting upgrades and its only running 2x t8's Hagen glo's at 15w each, so as I said I don't know much about lighting but I think I'm around 1.5wpg or less, and this upgrade would give me around 2.4 wpg if I'm working the wpg out correctly.

I'm still not sure if 2.4wpg is low light, but surely it has to better, only problem I don't know how high above the tank I'm meant to have it suspended and if the light would be beaming into my eyes when I'm watching tv as the tank is near the tv, or does the light go directly downwards to the tank...

So if anyone can let me know if this will improve plant growth a lot as I don't want to waste +£100 for something that won't do much, I would rather just buy 2 new t8 bulbs as mentioned in my other question...I'm currently running power glo and aqua glo but am thinking aqua glo with life glo would be better or 2x life glo would be better for my plants, but I don't want a dull tank where I cant see my fish colours.

I've spent hours of researching what I can do with my tank and it seems many people are in the same boat when it comes to the Fluval Roma's, so this seems the only route that don't evolve diy, or there was some 8w led strips off ebay for like £8 but I dout they will do much?
Also how do you work out if a aquarium has low-med-high lighting?

Answer
1. personally I like using a wood canopy to hide the light, not only so you don't see the top of the tank, but also so the light isn't so bright in the room

2. you will do better with more light intensity, so either 3-4 T8 bulbs, or 3 of the T5 would be best. 2 of the T5 is still a pretty low light tank, but probably acceptable for many plants

3. yes it will make the tank look and grow better to have the 2 T5 bulbs and the new fixture.

4. you suspend the lights just 6 inches or so above the tank, go with the recommendations from the manufacturer

5. the estimate for lighting tanks is up to about 5 watts per gallon, 1-2 watts is a low light tank, once you get over about 4 watts per gallon it becomes necessary to add co2 to take advantage of the additional light.

so, in conclusion, yes the new light will be better, but still not as intense as some planted tanks.
buy plants that grow well in your tank, and don't replace ones that don't do well.
have very few fish or very small fish only, and very little feeding and the tank will function a lot better.

Why do American teens seem more childish and overall dumber than Europeans?

Just visited a few countries (Russia Spain and Greece) and i noticed teens and those in their 20s are much more educated and sophisticated compared to their US counterparts. They seem to act like they are 30 but surprisingly are only 21. They dress elegant without gang tattoos or rocker look or skater look. Especially the women, they are very family oriented.

Answer
We coddle our kids... "Generation Zero" has raised kids with no boundaries and taught them that it doesn't matter if you succeed or fail, all that matters is that you showed up...

We require instant gratification of our wants and desires and expect them to be handed to us just for showing up.

People on welfare can afford LED/LCD 42 inch flat screen TV's and App-Phones then STILL b*tch that they "Deserve" more.

Our children have no boundaries, received no discipline, and grew up hearing that "The US is #1!" so they learn only the minimum needed to get through life, follow their silly little causes to fill the void left in their lives by having TOO MUCH prosperity and let the world turn to sh*t around them.

Education is pushed off with the mantra of "Bill Gates didn't go to college" and seeing the internet millionaires of the late 90's, early 2000's... We watch interviews with the 25 year old billionaire developers of facebook, youtube, etc. and think "If they can do it..." and expect to be thrown fists full of money for surfing the web and being creative.

We have reached the point where we either succeed or fail... we are the New-Rome.

Will we let our decadence and over-blown sense of superiority bring us down like they did? I hope not.
