LED or LCD for Gaming?

Jim M

2 Samsung TV's, both 40" with identical specs. One is LCD and the other is LED. The LED is $400 more. Is it worth it?

The TV I am specifically buying for Skyrim, so I want the best looking and performing for gaming. I am going to hook this TV up to my computer to play Skyrim with ULTRA graphics. I already upgraded my computer, now I want a TV that will show me the best possible graphics my computer will be dishing out.

It may also see some FPS like MW3.
The reason I don't want the Plasma, is I will be playing Skyrim for 12 hours a day no doubt, without a break. The is certainly enough time to burn in images on the screen, for example icons that always stay on the screen when you play a game, and they never move. For example health bar, or compass, ect. Also, the TV will new, so that's the must susceptible time for burn in.

I was hoping for more opinions. But right now I may end up going LCD it looks like.

Answer
LCD and LED are the same thing just different back lighting they still suffer from all the draw backs of a LCD for gaming and fast motion

Plasma all the way-Only thing Plasma Starts at 42" and goes up
-better and deeper blacks
-wider off angle viewing
-awesome for fast motion-600Hz refresh rate while the top LCDs/LEDs are only 240Hz-Best for gaming and sports watching
with a LCD you will have to drop it to 60Hz for gaming to help eliminate the lag
-No burn in-on new plasmas-was a problem 5 years ago
-they do use more power than the LCDs-But really if you cant afford the possible 3-5 bucks a month in and increase in your power bill-You do not need to be buying a big tv to begin with.
-The short life people are talking about equals about 10-15 years of watching. really who wont buy a new tv in 10 freaking years???
-I have my 65" Hung about 4' from a 72" window and even with the blinds open i have no trouble seeing it or get any annoying reflections. But The ceiling light that is behind the couch will reflect off it at night.

Right now the top Plasmas are made by Panasonic(according to Cnet, consumer reports and a few home video mags). Right now 50" 1080p ( i own this one and the 65" version) at best buy USA around 899 for the 50" 720p is 599

LED tvs are just a LCD with a LED back light instead of Florissant tubes!!!!!!!!!!
LED tvs ARE JUST LCD with different backlighting they still suffer all the drawbacks of LCD but are just brighter

How do you connect your 3d glasses (ssg-5100gb) that came w/ my 72" samsung LED F8000 2013 tv?

How do you connect your 3d glasses (ssg-5100gb) that came w/ my 72" samsung LED F8000 2013 tv? We followed all direction to activate glasses by putting battery chip + side up and holding top button down for 3 seconds. We already had the 3D movie playing before we even set up glasses. We tried the entire brand new set with each new battery & nothing? Is there anything were missing?

Answer
In order to get it to work the TV needs to be in 3d mode. You don't even need a 3d movie. Just hit the 3d button on the remote to turn on 3d. Then the glasses should turn on.
