I had a co-worker come up to me today and ask me if I could help him fix a back light on a laptop. I don't own a laptop so I had no idea about the problem he was facing. He described it, if you held a flashlight at the back of the screen you could see it.
He said it would cost 200 dollars at best buy to get fixed and he said he wanted to do it himself.
Anybody have suggestions I can pass along to him?

Best Buy labor rates are high. There are repair shops that do the job with $35 to $85 in labor.
There are several here in Las Vegas, some of which work by mail also. They are easy to find on the internet with google.
Images of LCD screen are transparent color dots with light shining behind. That light can be either LED which all laptops (and most TVs) use or the older CCFL fluorescent. The fluorescents are no longer produced and went up in price and there are converter kits. When he says he shined a flashlight onto the screen, he means he can then see the images are there, but the backlight is out. There are two issues possible. The LEDs have a driver card and the CCFL has an inverter card. The electronic card could have died. It also could be the bulbs and that is more common in the CCFL. It could also be a bad connection in the cabling or connectors.
You first need the exact model of the laptop to find out if it is LED or CCFL and find the replacement screen. Then it is a choice of whether to find the driver or inverter card on ebay or Amazon or to try replacing the screen first or both as a pair.

what is the best flat screen,plasma,lcd tv does ps2 works best on?
Which tv does brand and model or what not can make the ps2 fit the whole hdtv because it wont fit mine im willing to go buy one in talking about it wont fit the aspect ratio.
