I am from India and I am looking to buya HANDYCAM. I am looking for a HANDYCAM that allows me video recording in such a way that, the recorded video gives me quality similaR TO the English original DVDs or that of the DVDRips widely available in the net.

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT HIGH DEFINITION VIDEOS....I DONT WANT THAT MUCH ....DVDRips would do

Now when i tried to look for one....in my town , only SONY is widely available....the problem is the dealers know nothing about "video quality"....they just tell that the HANDYCAM they show me records video in Standard Definition.....when i say "I want something which gives me DVD like resolution", they say "If i want HIGHER resolution i need to go for High Definition models"

They seem to be ignorant....i just want to record video and be able to view them on my TV or laptop in a DVD like quality.....i don't want High Definition.....and if i am correct my TV is not HD compatable

Now please help....can anyone tell me in a simple manner all this thing?????
I have no idea how to exactly equate DVD quality with camera video quality specifications!!!!

Answer
NO. you'll never get a dvdrip quality video from a handycam. Movies that you rip start out in film... super high quality. when you compress the video for dvd, you toss out information that is redundant. movies have large files and when compressed, you still get a great looking product. handy cams start with less resolution and smaller files so when you compress that, it won't look as good... kind of like garbage in garbage out... that's the short answer...

Which one do you think should i buy?
I know LG is a good brand for pc monitors but what about Philips and Asus?
by the way, which is better LED or LCD? in terms of Lifespan on number of hours?
I need your advice guys, thank you.

Answer
ASUS is my personal favorite brand, but Samsung is generally the most popular. I have had many Phillips monitors/tvs in the past and they do seem to be slightly lower quality (but still very good). I personally would go for the 17 inch LG with the 1440x900 resolution or the 18.5 ASUS 1366x768 resolution. The higher the resolution is the more stuff you will be able to see on the screen and having a larger screen makes the things you can see on the screen larger. Sorry for the wordy response.
