I'm looking into buy a LCD HDTV(Since I heard it's better). About less than 42inches and more than 32inches. I'm thinking about buying a Sony or a Samsung, Are they good models? Also the TV is gonna be used to watch TV(Obviously), play movies, and be used for videos games. What should I look into? Any advice on choosing?

Answer
Samsung and Sony models have generally received positive ratings.

If you really want my opinion, it's best that you narrow down several Sony and Samsung TVs and then do research online.

Several criteria:
-Between 32-42" it would be hard to discern between 720p and 1080p. However, as of this year most TVs are being upgraded to 1080p regardless.
- After that is the contrast ratio, though many manufactures now attach "Dynamic" in front of contrast ratio meaning "marketing, hype, look-big-numbers!!". Basically, if comparing contrast-ratios you can only really do so through reviews posted online or if there really is a big difference. Usually LED sets have way higher contrast ratios due to reasons posted below..
- CCFL or LED backlight. Basically, CCFL is the older technology where getting the color black means dimming the light but not turning it off hence you get a shade of dark gray but not "black". In fact, for black levels plasmas generally do much better, though a lot of plasmas are being phased out. LED remedies this problem because you can turn off an LED in one area while keeping it lit in other areas. However, the prices are much, much higher
- 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz. 120Hz is good, beyond that it's just pointless. Basically speaking.

Find a set that appeals to you, Google said set with the word review attached to it and compare with other sets that appeal to you.

do computers HAVE to get slower as they get older?

example: lets say i buy a top notch computer today, decked out with a top notch i7 processor, 8 gigs of ram and a good graphics card

if i take care of it, keep viruses off of it, keep the fan and vents clean and clear etc what are the chances that ten years from now it will be as fast as it is today?

Answer
It most likely will stay as fast, especially if you reinstall windows a couple of times along the way over the 10 year stretch... The thing is, our perception of fast changes over the years, after seeing new technology and better performance from other "gadgets"...
Much like I had a 61" DLP HDTV I bought 6 years ago, technically it looked good, but the color and the lighting was actually very dim... But when I bought it new it looked wonderful, and most likely looked the same, as I had just replaced the bulb in December... What changed was going into department stores and seeing the vibrant and bright pictures on the LCD/LED and plasma TV's out on the market today... I actually downgraded to a 55" LED that works so much better in my living room, but with the better picture, it makes up for size...
