I am looking to buy a new HDTV. I am currently stuck between Vizio or Insignia. I looked up the original manufacturer of the Insignia i am looking at, and it looks like LG originally made it.

Both are 26", the vizio is LED-LCD, the Insignia is 1080p which doesnt truly matter considering the screen size and i wont really be using it for anything that needs 1080p. the vizio is 720p. Both are within my price range and the only price difference is the vizio is $25 less, which could mean some other accessories i could get, but i am not thinking about that all too much.

I am unsure of which to get. I heard vizio had some problems a couple years ago, but recently they have gotten their act together and produce good quality things now. I heard good things about LG(original manufacturer for Insignia) but also some bad things for the insignia tvs specifically.

I like the look/design of the vizio, but the insignia is not bad. I went to both stores and checked out the TV in person and the picture is comparable to one another.

This is the vizio:

-It might say out of stock, but i found it in the store and they have decent stock, but if not i will just go with the other

This is the Insignia:

There really only seems to be slight differences, but i am not really educated in this stuff so i need a little help.

Any advice would be great!

also: depending on the tv, is a protection plan worth buying?
I looked up the response rate for the Insignia, and it looks like its around 8.0ms

Answer
I'd avoid the Insignia, if only because you'd have to purchase it at Best Buy, which has the worst return policy in the business. If you get it home and find that it's unsuitable for any reason, BB will stick you for a stiff restocking fee if you bring it back. Not so at any number of other vendors, like Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam's Club, and maybe others.

Vizio was a low tier brand years ago, but specific models have started to show up in the top ten lists at Consumer Reports and other professional testing labs. I have a 24 inch Vizio in my office, about a year old, and it's as good as anything in its class.

I wouldn't get a protection plan with Vizio or LG. If they don't fail during the return period, 30 to 90 days depending on the store, they're probably going to be okay. Any repair it might subsequently need could cost less than the protection plan.

I WOULD consider a protection plan with a Samsung, which has a poor reputation for warranty support.

Followup per John's answer: removing the restocking fee is good news, but as for Insignia being "praised" by Consumer Reports: not hardly. Insignia sets show up in just two of their many preference listings over the past year, #11 of 28 for a 42 inch LCD and #11 of 14 for a 32 inch model. There are clearly far better choices in all classes.

Which Laptop Out Of These Four?

Don't Look

I am buying a laptop and have narrowed it to four laptops. These choices were made because I want a big hard drive space on my laptop (1.5 TB or more) and decent RAM (8gb or more). Graphics aren't really important since I won't do gaming. CPU has to be powerful enough to handle standard internet browsing, video editing, and video chat (Skype). And, price range is from $0 - $1600. :)
So if you recommend any other laptops with these preferred specifications, I would be happy to know.

Answer
how about a Apple Macbook Pro
2.0GHz or 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 6MB shared L3 cache; or optional 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 8MB shared L3 cache
4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB

Yes a little Pricer but so worth it.
1.) Harder to get viruses
2.)Bluetooth
3.)Great for Video/Picture editing

If your a PC person the transition from PC to apple might be a little harder but well worth it in the end..

PC user for 15 years
APPLE owner for 5 Years..

LOVE both in their own ways

But as for the 4 laptops u have .. Any would be a Wonderful Buy.. At a glance it all looks the same except for maybe HDD size and Videocard Size.. Video card is important if you are doing Video editing.

Most important thing is choose one you are / or feel comfortable with.. Try them out if possible at stores like best buy so you can see how they work. Looking a Rating is not always the best thing if the Laptop isnt comfortable to you
