I know the problem hasn't occured with LCD televisions.
I aslo know that a LED screen has more lamps and has a increase chance of failure.
The odds of pixel defects are higher. But it is so much thinner than LCD. More power efficient.
Better contrast ratio. My biggest problem is the screen edges are lighter of color. I mean after all its is best PQ we are after. Do the higher end models have this problem too?

Answer
Depends on the model.

Edge-lit LED TVs have all the light at the edge and use light-guides to spread the light.
They show "blooming", but can be made very thin.

Full-array LEDs have them spread in the back - in a full array. They provide better image quality, but are thicker.

Look for Full-array, back-lit, with Local dimming. = the best.

What's the difference between an LED TV and an LCD TV?

I think the LED one's are better quality. Is that true? also, what makes them different?

Answer
They are nearly the same. Both have a liquid crystal display screen. The only major difference between the two is that older or less expensive sets use a fluorescent lamp for the backlight, while an "LED" set uses a bank of light emitting diodes.

The LED backlighting uses less electrical power than the fluorescent lamp. There are two versions, "edge" lighting and "full matrix." Edge-lit sets can be very thin. Full matrix sets allow for "local dimming," which can bring improved contrast in specific areas of the screen.

However, don't look for a *major* difference in picture quality. The HD picture on a very good conventional LCD set will be difficult to discern from an "LED" set.
